Root Dear family, friends, ect *Its official*

Its official. Just got the EVO LTE from sprint, and setting up this bad boy now
ok your going to have to keep me posted on how well it does and any quirks you start to find. I also believe otter box has a cover for it already.

I've already got a defender on the way from amazon. I wanted the commuter but they didn't have any in stock that were eligible for prime.

I'm looking for good deals on the zagg.

I'm really digging this phone so far. I burned through the half charge it come with but that was constant downloading apps and getting things set up.

Looking into the automated HTC dev root method as well. Id like to wait a while longer and see if we get an s-off

Im leaning towards the SIII. When I decided that I wanted the og Evo, It was still pre-release and the rumors at the time were that it was gonna have a amoled display. When I found out that it was a tft, i still wanted it LoL But now after having played around and rooted several galaxys, Ive decided that I want a phone with an amoled. However, with my recent plight with an SII, I have found that not all SII's have the same battery size. A friend of mine has the tmobile version and it had a physically and capacitatively bigger battery. Not all galaxys are created equal is what im sayin :/

oh, and im considering using my best buy blacktie coverage to replace my evo. I have one from sept of '10. Any disadvantages of getting a replacement vs a repair? Are the older ones better/worse? I know that there are differences between the tft's, but beyond that? Any ideas/thoughts?

I am surprised you're not going for the Galaxy Nexus. You're an AOSP guy, so why not go with the ultimate AOSP phone?

I was hoping you would've ended up getting a Gnex! Oh well, keep us posted on how the EvoLTE is.

As for me, I'm loving the Gnex!

It was the front runner for a while.

This thing is sleeping like a baby. Is that even possible? 2?

And the quadrant is killer. Granted, this is still stock unrooted

If my phone uses WiFi to determine my location it puts me somewhere in Asia every now and again. I guess that saved me the hassle of editing out the name of the tiny town im staying this summer :p

Hey Rx, how are you liking the new phone? I see those stats are really impressive!

Do you have a take on the battery life yet? How do you think the 3g speeds are vs the Evo 4g? One of the salespeople at sprint I spoke to was saying that they should be better due to improved radios but I am ever the skeptic.

Be time for a review pretty soon! ? !!! :D

Sure gimme a few days and I'll write up a review.

Battery life seems to be pretty killer just because of how well the phone sleeps. I've seen anywhere from -1 to -3mA pretty consistently on battery monitor widget. There aren't any custom kernels yet, so I only expect this to improve. I'm at 88% right now and took the phone off the charger roughly 6 hours ago.

The development of the device has been ramping up. We already have a few custom ROMS including CM9 under development.

Rooting the device is really easy, and there are both soft root (can be completely undone with no record of it being there by running an RUU) and HTC dev methods. They are both completely automated thanks to the devs. Download a program and run it on your computer with the phone hooked up and your all set. Its pretty amazing that they were able to do that with HTC Dev. Maybe that can get ported back to the OG EVO.

I currently have it soft rooted with the stock ROM and am hoping to see an S-off soon.

3G speeds......suck in my current area. I miss being in a big city. I posted about my beautiful 25kbp/s download speeds with my EVO and its about the same with the LTE (I'm always on WIFI). It'll have to wait untill next week when I'm in Minneapolis for a full check.

I'm gonna go into sprint tomorrow and complain about this

Man, I am starting to really want one. But right now, running the Decks Reloaded .44rls rom with the Mason kernel, I just can't ask for anything more.

I have PM'd the dev that put together the automated HTC dev script and am going to try to see if I can get that backported for you guys here. I know we still have people with trouble from that method on a daily basis. It would be nice to have.

I read some on the lte evo forum. I saw where they had a problem with the Google wallet after they had set it up and then done a factory reset. I am wondering if what i saw when I updated TB Pro today would help them? It said something about backing up the Android Id. Or something like that. Not sure what it is or if it is related to the issue but it caught my eye.

I read that this phone has really good sound quality. That is important! I can't remember if the HD quality was only when it was on an LTE network though.

I read some review a guy did of the phone. He was fairly critical of it, but it seemed that most of his complaints were about cosmetic issues.

I hope you like it, I'll probably end up with one myself!

The google wallet issue is one with any phone with google wallet. Doing a factory reset with your banking data stored in wallet will cause it to lock up and never be usable again. This is to prevent people from dong a factory reset to clear out passwords and get a hold of your account info. You just have to reset wallet ahead of time to prevent this. (I personally haven't touched wallet yet). I doubt TB would be able to fix that.

The phone will have some sort of HD call sound once sprint gets their networks updated. Its supposed to be pretty BA once its fully functional. I don't think you have to be on LTE for it. Its something to do with new 3G technology.

I hated the cosmetics of the back of thephone before I got it. But I actually kind of like it now :o

Good move on the LTEvo! I'm hoping to have one myself shortly, depends if i can talk the wife into stopping by a corporate store on our way to the beach tomorrow LOL Sucks about your OG Evo though, but at least you made the best of the bad situation

"Change the device's Android ID, restore it from a backup or after a factory reset"

Is what it says it does on their official page. Don't know if that his how the wallet thing id's things or what.

Muahahaha

Also, just ran the RUU to confirm that it gets rid of all evidence on the bootloader for the ROM level root exploit.

When rooted It did say:
**Tampered**
**Locked**

but now unrooted it just says:
**Locked**

Did you ever figure out a way to reboot the phone or enter recovery if the phone accidentally froze or anything like that since there isn't a detachable battery?
