Root Deck's Reloaded and A2SD..

I don't want to use Dark Tremor and that is the one you have the option of getting with this rom. I found an app that lets me move my apps to the SD card but with Mik 3.11 I believe A2SD was in there and any app I downloaded was automatically moved to the SD card. Is there a way to get A2SD on Deck's Reloaded? Is it an app I can just download and install and it will do its thing?

Yes there is but it only moves part of the app.
With DarkTremors a2sd, it moves the entire app leaving alot of internal memory free.
With Decks there is an option not to install DTa2sd.
Just curious why do you not want to utilize DT's?
See this article.
:)

I have nothing against using any specific program as long as I don't have to really mess with anything. When I installed mik 3.11 I'm pretty sure whatever program came with it just worked out of the gate without me doing anything. As far as stuff I've read about DT, I always see things like "if you don't know how to use this, DON'T INSTALL IT!" and things like that. Kind of makes me nervous. Ive never had to actually do anything at all with an a2sd program and I'd love to keep it that way. I'd just like it to be there and move the apps all by itself. Is this asking too much? Am I misunderstanding DT?

In order for DarkTremors to function properly you need:
1. sd card partitioned to ext 3 (or 4, but 3 is fine for sense roms)
2. A rom that has DTa2sd baked (included) in it. or
2a..flash the DTa2sd script (not the app in the market)
3. Terminal Emulator (from the market)...to check status of dt, that's all.
and to issue commands for DT (easy)
4. Watch your internal memory barely move cuz apps go to sd-ext automatically.
MikG3.11 has DT included, so if you have sd card partitioned, it will work out of the box.
:D

Edit: is your card partitioned now?

Yes it is, Im not sure the name of the partitions, is there a way to look? But im pretty sure I partitioned it a while back for some rom.

well dt only works when you use an app called terminal emulator. you can have dt installed and it will not do anything. it is super easy to do. it is command oriented. once you enter the command reinstall a2sd then your apps will move to the card. it is pretty easy. and those warnings are there to protect the op legally. dt is supper easy to do. just flash it like you would a rom.

the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html has a section for partitoning and it also goes into dt with a link for commands for it. check it out.

In terminal emulator type:
$su (enter)
# mount| grep /sd-ext (enter)
Then this is what will come up:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext type ext4 (rw,noatime.nodiratime.barrier=1,data=ordered)
That's what mine says...I am partitioned to ext-4
The rest is garbly-goop to me.

That will show you to what extent you partitioned.
The "$" and the "#" sign you do not have to type.
Also the "(enter)" is you hitting enter, dont type that.
Just be sure to space the commands correct.
like this--- mount| grep /sd-ext
not this--- mount | grep/sd-ext
or this----mount|grep/ sd-ext
follow? or that command will not work

well dt only works when you use an app called terminal emulator.

There is the app a2sdGUI in the playstore that was made specifically to run DTa2sd. As long as the script's installed you can run it just by going through the menus.
A2SDGUI for Dark Tremor's a2sd
Its incredibly simple and easy to use.

In terminal emulator type:
$su (enter)
# mount| grep /sd-ext (enter)

If you have dta2sd already installed. In terminal why not just enter a2sd check. This will tell you what ext you're on and which ones are also supported by your system. also gives a break down of what is where and other info

I tried that also, and it lists all 3 or 4 ext's are supported.
Does that tell me what I partitioned to? As in, the last ext listed is what my card is partitioned to? If the last one listed was ext-3, then is that what I am partitioned to? I wasn't sure, that's why I type the mount grep thing instead.

I see your DT's is a different version than mine, and mine does not show to what extent I am partitioned to.

You're running a newer version. I'm running the run that gets baked-in dsixda's Android Kitchen.

I can't see what ext you're running though it shows your system/kernel supports all types of ext. That's what those are showing, not what you are currently running off.

When I type a2sd check it says "permission denied.

edit: Duh.... I told it not to install dta2sd when I flashed rom. I'll have to get it separately.

....How the HECK does one get OUT of Terminal Emulator??! I hit some of the commands and now I want OUT of it! But when I type "exit" or "quit" it tells me that the command cannot be found...! The BACK button takes me to my homescreen BUT there's a small icon up in the status bar showing there is a TE session running...

Hah! What a DOLT I am!! It's been a week or two since I flashed my current ROM (TeamD.I.R.T. CM9 v1.7.5 ICS) and I discover - THANKS TO THIS THREAD - that I never FLASHED dta2sd .zip AFTER installing the ROM...:(!

So, I went about doing so by first, checking with the dev to make sure the ROM does indeed support a2sd then booting into Recovery and flashing the dta2sd.zip file! WOW! I saw my internal memory explode! Went from like 260MB free to 360MB free! :(SD card (a2sd) went from 1.68GB free to 1.55GB free!

Moral of story? Do NOT forget to flash the a2sd if the ROM requires it :)

Hey don't feel bad. I've had moment s like that also:D

It appears when you flash the DT zip it moves all your apps to the SD card right off the bat. I haven't done anything at all and I notice I went from 39 mb of free space to 239 mb. Does DT do other stuff that could get me even more internal space?

Wow that's quite a jump and that's nice eh?:)
Heres a list of DT commands that can be done also such as move dalvik to sd-ext also.
