Desire 2.2 OTA Update

Is it worth doing a factory reset after this update?

Read that after the last one to Froyo it was best to do that so not sure if I should do it again?

No, just rebooting your phone after the update should be fine. As a matter of course, I always do a final reboot once the phone has cleanly started, just to be sure.

I can't update. My Desire is unbrandet, rooted with LeeDroid ROM. I'm from Bulgaria. Phone found the update, downloadet it and reboot it trying install it but stays on one screen with litle Droid on it and some sign.
Can I install this update if i'm rooted with custom ROM?

Right here are my first impressions...

Shuts down Quicker - Was taking 15 seconds before but now consistantly about 5-6 seconds.

Seems a little quicker - Was not slow before but seems like its got an extra spring in its step.

Gallary is not fixed - Not sure if anyone else had this issue. Mine is quite slow to show the pics in the grid view. Will show some then when I it goes blank and then loads them up? Maybe this is just mine but was perfect in 2.1 and the only major downside to 2.2.

Seems pretty good though :D

I just loaded up gallery, and it loaded up my pictures very fast, grid view.

Dont get me wrong its not that its so much slow. In 2.1 the pictures were there no matter how fast you scrolled or what way you went but in 2.2 I scroll down and at some points they are not loaded yet. Dont take long to load but just not as rapid as previous?

Does yours do that?

Mines fine, once loaded up, everytime i go back in, they are there. scroll down, and no lag, nice and zippy, all images pre-loaded as it were.

I've been having lots of problems with google services of late. Last 2 days to be specific. Gmail not updating. Unable to download or update in the market place.

I'm hoping this update resolves this.

Might just be the version that I debranded to. Been thinking about rooting anyway so might give that a go to see if it helps.

thanks for letting me know.

check your internet browsers after update. is it just me or the lagginess is gone? well for me it looks like its gone :) yep and it does seem to be a little bit more faster, especially in app drawer. and get around 32.67 MFOPLS with linpack. which shows that speed should be almost the same as previous firmware.
but overall it seems faster :)

Do you need your gold card if you just debranded your phone, as I didn't root mine.

I'd like to know the answer to this also.

I have the option update.....question is, as I debranded (not rooted) from the vodafone rom to the generic htc 2.1 then ota for 2.2. Do I need the gold card in while I update?

I debranded at the same time. I put my goldcard in when I did this update and its worked perfectly. Have read a couple of people on here didn't and they are having problems so probably best to be safe and put the goldcard in :)

Just ran a Quadrant test and it appears to be a little slower. I'm getting 1142 when I have hit 1200+ before.

Not sure this is such a big deal though as many people have commented it seems quicker and smoother and I have also seen that.

Right i have a little question i have a Vodafone Desire that i installed (not rooted) a generic 2.1 Rom and in my infinite wisdom delted/lost/formatted, my gold card i used to install the generic ROM.

Is it possible that i can reproduce my Gold Card or am i now stuck and cannot install this new update?

Any help would be great as i don't wanna start the update without this info as i can see some people are having issues upgrading without.

Oh really is at simple as that, because i can/have made another Gold Card since i just wasn't sure if it needed to be the Gold Card from before i installed the generic 2.1 ROM.

Funnily enough, I just asked the same question in a different thread looking for a similar reply!

I dont have any OTA updates available (im on O2 UK)
currently unbranded running the "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe"?

it just appeared when I rechecked, downloading it now.

edit: loaded fine, seems to be running ok.

No problem, im sitting here with my angry face cos i forgot to change my cards over
Why not make your everyday card a goldcard? The 8gig card that came with my Desire was made into a goldcard so I could flash it to an unbranded generic version, and keep it in the phone for updates. Works great and no need to swap cards. I also made my wifes card and a spare card into goldcards as backups.

So I checked this morning and I have an update waiting. I ran the update, and it seems ok but it didn't maintain all my settings. It wiped my Calendar events, reset the News widget, and is a bit laggy. A reboot helped with the lag and it seems to be back to normal, and Quadrant benchmark gives a result of 1193, which is less than I had before the update. I'll do a reset and see how it runs...if it's not laggy, I'll probably keep it.

You might know the answer RetroDude....

If I turn my nice new FULL 8GB card into a goldcard will it wipe the data and can I use the goldcard.img I got or are they linked to the SD card somehow?

I believe you would need to submit a new one. Just use the goldcard creator found HERE. Takes like two minutes
