Desire 2.2 OTA Update

If I turn my nice new FULL 8GB card into a goldcard will it wipe the data and can I use the goldcard.img I got or are they linked to the SD card somehow?
Each memory card has a unique serial and you must make a new image for each goldcard you want to make. But once you convert a card into a goldcard, then it's a goldcard forever - a format does not change it. You can then use the goldcard as a regular memory card in everyday use and not worry about it.

It's recommended that before you create the goldcard, you format it in the phone which wipes all data off the card. If the card has already been formatted in the phone, then you can try making it into a goldcard without formatting again, but I don't know if that will work properly or not. It should since it's just changing the boot sectors slightly, so maybe try that first. If it doesn't work, then you can backup and format.
:D

Thanks bfksc! I had thought that formatting a goldcard would result in the card losing its goldcardy goodness.

Has snyone seen the differences to Gmail with its multiple inboxes? it still looks the same to me.

New feature: Icons in the notification bar now have a count number (if more than 1).

It would seem then that as I used the sd card that came with the phone to create the gold card, I'm actually ready to update :)

I used the 2.2 RUU file 2.09 version but now i am not seeing this update even with my gold card in, any body know why that might be?

i just updated without goldcard in and lost my wifi, please dont tell me i have to start over again and lose all my settings??? dam it

Damn. I was hoping the OS update might fix the bug with parsing wma file tags that was introduced with Froyo.

Also, just tried using speech to text to type this, using the new mic key on the kbd, but it gave a "Unable to reach the server" error when processing the speech.

Not noticed any other changes yet.

Ill go with that one if teppic doesnt get back to me, there is a RUU out with the update already installed, but you seem to need a password to DL it

User name and password is "shipped"

All lower case without the quotation marks! Now to make a gold card.............................:D

Cheers

I had the same problem, in the end it worked by checking whilst wifi was off, and then it saw the update, I then turned wifi on before downloading it.

Update was available on my phone yesterday but I didnt have my goldcard with me so I cancelled it. Got my goldcard in my phone this morning and the update is no longer available - have HTC pulled this or is it because my "cancelled" answer to the update is cached in the phone somewhere?

I had similar

I pressed cancel yesterday afternoon, 22:00 last night I decided to upgrade but update was no longer there. Rebooted phone and tried again and the update was back. Suspect the phone remembers you cancelled but rebooting clears.

I, too, had the update available last night but was about to get some sleep so cancelled to do the update this morning. Now it's gone and says my phone is up to date. (Unbranded, not rooted, on O2) I read the article on another thread that said O2 pulled the update due to complaints (presumably dufuses who have no patience). How do I complain to O2 to bring it back for people who know how to update and not blame the software for user error?

Ps.....tried rebooting as Baz suggested with no joy.

I cancelled the update when I first saw it yesterday afternoon, then got home to my wifi in the evening and checked again and the option was still there.

So I would say it hasn't anything to do with you cancelling it first time round.

unbranded, unlocked stock froyo on 02 simplicity:

OTA update has disappeared. As with others it was their last night but cancelled it as was not on wifi. Went back this morning and update not available.

Tried reboot, battery pull accessing with and without wifi - it's still not there.

Can others confirm that they can still see it? Is it an official pull or a bug at my end?

From what ive read, it has been pulled to fix this so called wifi bug. Mine went fine, however alot are not best happy about losing wifi. welcome to the world of android ;-)

O2 update that was pulled is FroYo update for O2 branded handsets only afaik.

This is a HTC provided update for handsets already on 2.2. I'm on O2. It was there when I downloaded it. Everything working fine after including wi-fi.
