Desire HD from Orange

I always go to the option "if you are thinking of leaving orange" [even if you aren't!] which takes you through to retentions [and then onto discussing your plan/upgrade/loyalty discounts etc]. If you go to straight to "upgrades" I find you get offered the latest web deals only [this is based on my personal experience and appreciate it might not be the same for all]

From what I can gather, I think they work out loyalty contracts based on your previous usage and how much you have paid them the past and what hasn't been used up. I got told I wasn't using as many network minutes as I had been paying for the last few years, so they reduced my network minutes and offered free landline calls. I might add that I also had contracts running with orange under my account for 2 of my sons over the last 2 years [now cancelled] but that may have clocked up a bit more 'loyalty'?

I was told it would normally be

eddiewawa did orange say they were going to text you when the stock came in as well, or just the courier.

I phoned for my upgrade on wednesday, and the lady said I would get a text when they came back into stock

hey dude, hmmm...basically they said the only time we'll know is when we get a txt from the courier about to deliver the phone...thats all.

lol i guess we both got different information on this one, i'll wait till next week :)

been calling orange for the last 3 days just to check if all the agents are in sync :)... have been put on a list and will get a sms when the phone is back in stock... stock is expected early next week. Is there some way i can get a better deal on 12 months? Have just been on orange only for a year but have paid them a lot in the 12 months (around 70 quid a month)...

well no harm in speaking the orange advisors on this one, i remember seeing the best deal for 12 months is around the

nah, basically upgrades and retentions are the only depts you ever get to talk when your a current customer. loyalty usually helps current customers get a better deal, since they're loyal customers who've spent hard earned money with orange. now, its not always the case and for some odd reason it depends on the discretionary practice of the person picking the call up (as experienced with rjayne)

*so use loyalty as a leverage.
*if you only use 50mins a month on calls, you dont need 600, so be sure to get the orange rep to find tariffs to match your exact needs, you'll find dropping the mins then gets you free mms, unlimited landline calls etc etc
*dont go in all aggressive, be sure to pick up the orange reps name and be pally, peeving him/her off will not help your cause.
*if you dont ask, you dont get. try and push more and more freebies, its how i got a free mobile broadband dongle lol

hope this helps anyone calling in with orange, majority of the guys & gals are like you and me, so be nice, most of the time they cant help it.

if the upgrades dont work, then wait till 30days left on your contract and go through retentions, usually they have more power to offer you better deals than the upgrade dept. again follow the basic rules and good luck :)

fantastic post. Very helpful information there mate.

Been with orange for about 7 years now so hopefully that should help me get a decent deal.

Currently get 600mins, unlimited texts and internet for

Just to let you know I got my DHD delivered yesterday.

2 words: legend dary

Absolutely loving it. It's not Orange branded. No logo or orange skin. Was even able to do an OTA update.

Being a Google person it synced up with all my contacts/email/calendar seamlessly.

Now exploring the world of Android....

great stuff interesting to hear its not branded

not that its the same but when i tried the loyalty card trick for the desire they said id have to pay for it as i dont use enough each month regardless of how long id been with them

sweet! thats good news you lucky beggers who got the phone early lol but glad its unbranded, have you guys spotted any random orange apps installed too?

lol @ navigate to IKEA...

but cheers for the feedback ghostface, glad decent deals are avial on the 18 month to others, but omg so glad they're leaving the branding out of it! and they better keep it that way rather than spring an orange surprise in an OTA in the future :)

Hey guys, haven't read all the replies so sorry for any duplicated replies, but thought I'd drop my 2p

I've just moved over from 02 to Orange (due to no offerings of the DHD) through Mobiles.co.uk (subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse) and have to say the experience was great.. Ordered the phone Monday, confirmation Tuesday, arrived Wednesday =D

Looking at the website now I think I got a temporary deal, but there are still some similar ones on there at the moment: Panther

sorry fella, cant help you there, not till my phone arrives next week :( boo hoooo... lol

ooo and my bit for the other peeps out there, as a personal preference, i always stay away from redemption deals unless its with a reputable company of size, even then they always try and make it awkward for you guys to reclaim your dosh back (they want you to forget). if you are on a redemption deal:

*always remember what intervals you need to reclaim your dosh back
*always send your redemptions via recorded delivery where the recipient need to sign for it.or they will always say they didnt receive it.

Thanks for the advice, I did do a little research into Mobiles.co.uk before I went along with the purchase, and they defiantly are a sister company of The Carphone Warehouse (even when the TCW website is down, it will redirect you to Mobiles & another "e"something company)

The redemption process shown on the website does look a little complicated, and I'm going to call them up next week to confirm when I should do so, but they do show you pretty much when and how to do so..

Regarding recorded delivery, I've opted for all my account stuff to be done online, and the website has a submission section for online redemption offers, so its as simple as filling in the boxes and uploading the bill (via pdf or scanned in) :)

yeah know mobiles.co.uk was owned by the warehouse, which is encouraging from the redemption point of view lol but omg how the games changed! finally online submissions! i'll make a note of that one for the future thanks! :D

another question for the other peeps.

Scenario: your gonna get the DHD on a particular good contract since you were such good customer. at the same time, your missuses contract is about to expire on another network provider outside of Orange. have any of you guys been able to get another contract on the your account? or swangle it so she gets the same deal on a separate account cos your bringing additional business to Orange? lol hope it makes sense...ive had too many sailor jerry's and coke :p

Been assured this morning that orange have had a major delivery :), They are currently in testing :( and will be despatched in a couple of days ;), We shall see.

B.T

By "testing", I hope you don't mean they're branding them and putting their bloatware on them? :(

no most companies test a sample of phones in a batch to ensure they're fit and ready to go, its kinda like a lil PAT testing and basic functional tests to see that everythings a-ok for the public

no idea how long it'll be but ive been told i should get my DHD sometime tuesday/weds...WHOOOPIEEEEEEEEEE!

Hope so! I ordered my DHD through mobiles.co.uk with an Orange contract last Tuesday. A few guys before me managed to get theirs within 48 hours, but unfortunately, by my order, they were out of stock... so fingers crossed for this week!

Unlucky to hear, I was going to wait a little longer, but after doing so for so long already I had pretty much made my mind up and did an impulse puchase, looks like my timing was perfect!

Purchased my DHD from CPW a couple of weeks ago. Good advice and service plus good subsequent support. However the quality of service and knowledge does vary from CPW store to store. I ended up going for an Orange contract as, since combining signals with Tmobile, the signal is better than my former provider of many years, Vodafone. I paid

well so far orange for me have been alright, but yeah as with everything it really depends on who you speak to at times i.e. just put the phone down and call back in 30mins and pray you get someone else lol

i personally cant wait for the t-orange merge to start sharing the mobile data connection rather than just the calls so far :D

*prays his gets delivered tomorrow...pretty please???*

Being naive, I thought that Orange DOES share the data connection with TMobile. If not, any idea when this will happen?

when you sign up to that anywhere everywhere thing with tmob or orange you'll be able to hop onto either network when your original provider cant provide a decent phone signal. As with anything IT related, its generally best to action this sort of thing on this scale with a phased approach rather than a big bang, think the 1st phase was the open up phone calls, txts and basic gprs.....then next would be the full integration of mobile data masts, not sure when that would happen but im sure it'll be soonish id imagine. i am however, jealous with t-mobs android 3GB allowance! lol

Everything you need to know about switching on the Orange & T-Mobile merger for your phone including doing so can be found here..

I've already done it, but am yet to fall out of Orange's signal, havent ventured too far with my phone yet. Essentially it works by letting your phone automatically select the network, and switching on roaming (so if you go abroad you'll need to remember to switch it off).. Though from what I've read, Orange gives you 16MB allowance abroad, and informs you by text when your half way and finished said allowance..

oh ive so been switched to the joint network many a time in leeds lol there seems to be a few black spots near the train station for some odd reason...huff :p so as an orange customer, when you drop out of an orange signal you'll get a 'Orange T-mobile' signal and an 'R' on your signal stack like your roaming (where you'd normally see a G, or E, or 3G or H). you'll still be able to make and receive calls and txts

ooo but really?? free roaming allowance??? tho...16mb isnt alot is it?? lol
