Desire HD from Orange

just spoke to orange. They said there is no stock update since Friday as they dont receive anything over the weekend or receive stock itself on weekends. It is likely they will get it on Monday or Tuesday but cant be sure....
I think the update depends on who is answering the phone and how good a reply they can frame...:confused:

lol you know im so gonna just sit tight and wait till tuesday, the more i get optimistic the more im gonna cry waiting lol

i want my DHD, i want my DHD....

hmmm...just a thought, have you guys seen the presence of company representatives on sites like moneysavingexpert forums? why cant they have them here too? lol surely there must be some geeks like us working for orange, it'll defo help customer relations :p
 
hey all just an update :)

so I called orange again and the kind lady repeated what was mentioned last week that there's a batch being tested I type...so early on in the week delivery is now going to be late on in the week im afraid kids...or somhow they can pull a blinder?? here 's to a lil hope that we'll get ours this week at least eh? hehe

I hope they are not just pulling our leg and giving away phones in the background to whoever. This waiting is getting to nerves. Havent got an sms from them yet.:(

Called mobiles.co.uk, and they have stock delivery today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be able to send it out today too... sigh.
 
I would put a cheeky call into them to be honest. Last week I was promised a text and it was only when I called off the cuff Wednesday morning struck lucky to bag one in stock that he said "Oh yeah, you were on the list to get a text"
Certainly didn't get one.
 
whats kinda frustrating at the moment is my mate at work just got his sim-free desire z ordered yesterday from expansys and its now delivered??? GOSH! lol
 
I wouldn't count on it. Clove were originally due a delivery today that HTC cancelled.

Also in what I hope will be my last wander round at lunch to try and find one sooner, CPW and P4U said they were expecting deliveries today that didn't show up.

Was an HTC rep in P4U who claimed to know nothing about a shortage of Desire HDs.

There are plenty of Desire Zs kicking around. HTC seem to have got the ratio in which to produce them very wrong.

yeah very odd...maybe ppl are being put off by the hinge and want something simpler? (tho alot larger hehe)

p.s. after playing with my mates desire z, man i love that tactile keyboard, and he can play all those emulators with ease...booo....

anyhoos...where's our DHD's orange?!?!
 
Yes, I played with a friend's DZ yesterday. In many ways it is very very nice. The hinge does put me off a little but I suspect would be ok. My problem with it is that the thickness and general 'heft' to it isn't quite compensated for by the keyboard. I would rather that my bulky phone has a large screen...

oh i dunno...if the desire Z had similar specs to the desire HD, I'd defo buy the Z lol i do miss my HTC TyTn days...*sighs*...
 
Specs wise there's not much in it. The 7230 in the DZ is basically the same chip as the 8255 in the DHD just clocked a little lower. In reality that should make very little difference to the user experience. The DZ will be plenty fast.

The only thing that it comes down to choosing between these phones is do you want a big screen or a h/w keyboard.
 
No text or email from mobiles.co.uk today, despite having called them earlier and them saying that they were getting a delivery today. However, I suppose there's always the chance that they're being tested first.
 
what im looking forward is that they delay my phone even longer...cos my new contract with upgrades kicks in on the 12th, and if i dont receive it by then, they'll be breaking my contract...then i'll find a way to get more freebies lol

but man, angry birds on my hero sucks! lol mega sloooooow.....

Unless you work for them, there's no way you can know if it's because they didn't get their delivery or if they're testing their stock first. So what if a few places didn't get theirs? That doesn't automatically mean no one else did either. Though it's not a good sign either.

But don't take me for an idiot; I know it's unlikely, that's why I said it was just a "chance". :rolleyes:
 
Sorry, not taking you for an idiot, but companies like mobiles.co.uk (contract resellers) do not typically open up and test shipments of phones. Only the networks regularly do that and they normally only do that with initial batches.

I also think it's reasonable to assume if the likes of Clove, Expansys, Handtech, CPW and P4U are not getting their promised deliveries from HTC then mobiles.co.uk (I know they're CPW affiliated btw) won't be either.

It seems that the consistent story is that HTC have promised stock deliveries every Tuesday for the rest of the month commencing again on the 16th. If next week's delivery shows up then I think it will be a sign that the problems may start to ease. If that delivery doesn't show up then I think it will be indicative of longer delays to come.
 
lol now now lads, we're just passionate about this thats all....we'll get it EVENTUALLY hehe but it keeps everyday exciting with a "what if it arrives today??

shud have just done the upgrade through P4U the other week when had the chance. oh well
 
I have just phoned up orange again regarding my DHD upgrade. I missed out on the last batch of 800 as I was number 906.
She checked their system and it said that they had recieved 2500 units today!
I was told they will go for testing but should start going out at the end of the week. Just a few more days to wait.
