Desire HD from Orange

Just remember it may take a few top to bottom charges before the battery starts to get better, I noticed mine was pretty poor at the start but has improved in longevity over the last week - its the display that kills most of it, get yourself the "Brightness" app, helps better manage the percentages..
 
The phone arrived lunchtime yesterday, and was charged and sim activated by 5pm.
The first point is it is a gorgeous thing, but what a learning curve! It was the first time I had actually held a working android phone and approaching a day later I'm still struggling somewhat.
One really good thing is that there is just no Orange bloatware or branding (other than a single small app called Orange+, and that is easily ignored).
I had previously downloaded and then printed out the whole of the manual (yes, all 226 pages) so with a lot of page turning I set off to tame the beast!
Getting wi-fi working turned out to be easy, and using bluetooth to talk to my previous SE C905 and transfer contacts and messages was much simpler than I feared.
One thing that has proved convoluted has been setting up what the C905 called `profiles' and by HTC are known as sound sets. I need an Office/meeting mode with the ring silenced, a home mode with a normal ring and an in car mode set to loud - I'm sure i'll get there, sooner or later, but at the moment the volume is the same in each one!
This evening I'm going for the Google a/c, then after that it is getting the sat nav working.
First impressions - what an amazing piece of kit.
 
Sigh - I am just so disappointed that the networks are getting their stock (some of them at least), yet the sim free retailers aren't.

Well, shouldn't be surprised really.
 
Like most here I'm waiting for mine too. Just got off the phone from Orange upgrades, similar story, the lad suggested a shipment was coming tomorrow, going for 'testing' and will be on sale on Saturday.

Which at some point i shall get the much fabled text... Really?

He even offered an alternative phone which doesn't bowed well.

I won't be holing my breath for too long. I am concerned that they are beginning to get stock and holding on to them to fill them with bloatware.
 
It's likely you'll get the Orange FW on it seeing as the RUU is now available. You can just debrand, though, and keep the Orange RUU for warranty purposes
 
Just spoke to Orange upgrades earlier and was told they had 4,000 just come in but they won't be released for a few days as they're undergoing 'testing'.
Have myself down for a text alert - got offered 600mins, unlimited texts, 1Gb internet and free DHD for
 
The number of times over the last couple of weeks that orange upgrades have told people "We've just gotten x,000 in, they've got to go for testing" just keeps going up and up.

I wouldn't trust it to be honest.
 
hey all, likewise im gettin a new HD Desire delivered on Monday :)

i stayed with Orange and got an upgrade, and went for this in the end:

ive been waiting 2 weeks on the text telling me when ill be getting mine.
i called up on thursday and the guy said they just had 3000 delivered and they were getting tested. said i should have it by the start of next week. ill wait and see but i reckon ill be on the phone to them end of next week asking where my phone is:mad:
 
Just ordered my DHD from Orange, used phone number from their website.
Free phone, 8gb memory card (included anyway in box) 600 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited email, 750 mb, 50 photo msgs and sat nav

being delivered on tuesday, so excited

What exactly wouldnt you trust? Presumably since people have received Orange DHDs, they are coming in to stock and then leaving again?
 
hey peeps, just catching up with you all on this one with orange and to see how your all getting on? also curious to know if this Orange ROM does exist as it'll mean they'll push that out to the rest of us eventually....eep!
 
Courier arrives in the next hour.

I'm expecting an Orange ROM so they can control updates, I just have my fingers crossed for no bloatware
 
It's here and it's charging.

First impressions WOW!

No orange branding logo on the case. Switching it on and I so far can't find any other Orange branded bloatware. I'll update later. :D
 
Just got my Dispatch text from Orange, I called them about an upgrade Fri, its coming tomorrow, they have stock!
 
Received it today. Great phone :). Havent explored it much.

No orange bloatware on the phone so guess am of the lucky ones who managed to escape.

Another point guys - i didnt receive any SMS of when in stock or when they put me on the back order. I had to call them up as my friend received an SMS (i had asked him to confirm the plan so that he goes on the back order list) and i hadnt although i was told i have been added to the back order list. Anyway, please call them up and keep checking.
