Did Everyone Get The Recent Software Update?

I can't figure out how they do the updates.
Location IL.
I got mine yesterday morning, my wife has yet to get hers.
On the last update she did not get hers until 5 days after me.
It would be nice if sprint could clarify how they push updates?

According to a Sprint admin on its own user forum, the updates are random.

This is so irritating. When I saw the update pop up on my phone a few days ago, I hit "later" or whatever option I had to wait. I wanted to wait til I got home from a trip and could check here for info on this update. Didn't want to install it til I was sure it was okay. The next time I picked up the phone, it was about to install it! I canceled it out again. But it apparently installed some other time.

Is it just me, or should you NEED to tell it to go ahead and install the update?? Permission should be REQUIRED unless there is some major security risk or something..

Yesterday morning I still hadn't got the update. I read that someone's update came through while they were downloading apps from the market. So I went into the market and started downloading the available app updates that I had. Right away, the DI18 update appeared for me. When I got home last night I started downloading app updates on my wife's phone and the DI18 update came up right away also. Don't know if it matters, but this was done on 3G.

Well thats interesting. The updates must come over that same server channel the market apps do so when you are connected it must do a cross check for updates to the handset. Great tip.

Well Im in Downers Grove, My update came in as soon as I got the new handset yesterday, In fact it rolled several in one right after the other so I didn't really know what I was getting until later in the day and was happy to see DI18 was also installed.

thats odd thats the same way i got the update and the one before that i had just installed and began to play a new game so maybe it does trigger somethin with the servers ill make sure to download new apps when a new update releases but hopefully that next one is froyo

Come to think of it at the time of my update I was downloading from the market - will test this on my wifes phone tonight.

Wow, thanks for the tip guys. Had not seen the update yet here in Tampa, FL

Just opened Market for the first time in days and within a few minutes BAM!!!!! :)

I got it last night, but it might have been sooner if I hadn't been leaving my 3G off except when needed. I realized that was probably preventing the update, enabled it, and I had it in ~2 hours,

I'll test mine later today as I am returning my initial Epic because my phone gives errors everytime I check the profile, prl, and firmware. We think there is a problem with the radio. I did however get the DI17 so that may have screwed it up somehow. Anyway we'll see with the new one. If the new one has issues, i'll test out an EVO.

Mine has also never been able to update any of those things. It tried on its own to update the firmware after the latest upgrade, and it failed, so I tried it again manually and it still failed. I doubt it was the update, because numerous attempts have failed for me with all 3 software versions. I hope I don't end up having to replace mine - not looking forward to the hassle of setting everything up again. I guess I could try backup to the SD card of as much as possible.

Anyone know if there is another solution to that problem? Quickstang, did you end up replacing yours? The error message I get is the remarkably unhelpful "Internal error".

What baseband version do you now have?

What baseband version do you now have?

S:D700.0.55.DI18. But I guess the point is, even if I have the latest, isn't an internal error a bad thing? And while I'm at it, what's the difference between updating Android and updating firmware on the updates menu? I'm a computer professional, so I know the difference between firmware and the OS, but a lot of people seem to refer to what I believe are OS updates as "firmware". The 2 terms seem to be used interchangeably here, but there are 2 menu items, and I'm curious as to whether we've actually been getting firmware updates or OS updates. And I'm confused as to why I can never update any of the firmware, profile, or PRL.

Thanks in advance for any and all enlightenment :).

I was reading this thread and figured, how the hell not, let me download an app and see what happens. The econd I finished downloading it, the phone got the update.

I had been getting the notification and kept saying "later". I finally tell it to do it, and says i'm up to date. I have DI07. I try to manually "update firmware" adn it also says up to date
