Root {DISCONTINUED}MegaTron 6.2.5 (Updated 7/13/13)

I actually dont remember what i used. I think it was a generic 3rd party app but also rom toolbox and titanium backup can do it i believe but im unsure if you have to have the paid versions

I use rom toolbox to uninstall or freeze apps but it is the paid version. Works extremely well. Be careful at what you uninstall. I accidentally uninstalled the wrong app (fat finger syndrome) and I knock out my notification bar and wasn't smart enough, at that time, to get it back.

yeah i think i used System Tuner, which is like a cheap free knock-off all-encompassing super app, basically a ghetto RTB or TiBU. and i have been preaching to freeze before u uninstall just to be on the safe side.

ok i just logged in after like a week or 2 not checking waiting for someone to put out a new rom n i saw this and i got a big fat rom boner
EDIT: btw.... im not too sure with you guys replacing my go launcher :P we will see if it sticks with me D: don't like launcher changes mainly because ive been using go launcher since the prevail first came out
Dude I love Go launcher too and use it exclusively.. We used xperia because its fast and sleek. everyone is going to put what launcher they want anyway... Xperia is the best turn-key launcher for anyone who won't change the launcher and leaves it as is..

Is there anyway to update to 2.3.6 without losing CWM?

Yes and no. If you flash a rom or a backup with the update in it and measures to keep CWM, then all's well. On the other hand, if you let your phone update itself, and it happens to go through, then you will lose the custom recovery when the phone finishes rebooting. And while it's risky (most everything talked about in the "All Things Root" subforum are), you could always use odin to push CWM back on there. PM me if you'd like me to help you with the update-re-CWM process (I don't wanna hijack the thread any more than I already have, plus I have a lot of respect for Chevanlol and mavrikmeerkat and the work they do).

My personal experience was that flashing a rom built on 2.3.6 updated with no loss of root or cwm. When they release this new version it should do it just fine.

was already looking forward to 6.0 then chev posted there will be 50 new features. plus it sounds like notification toggle will be back.

the anticipation just got cranked up even higher.

thanks chev.

Hello. I am definately looking forward to this new rom. There are couple of things I am not too sure and/or smart about. I am currenly 2.3.4 running root, cwm and $hevron rom. Will this take me to 2.3.6? Will I get the new/ better baseband? Or will I have to find another route to get 2.3.6 w/ new baseband before installing Megatron 6.0. I am confused on what to do.

I would like to thank all of the smart people in advance for holding this half noob/ half ignorant man's hand through this fun, but nerve racking experience. :stupid:

When Megatron is released, Chevanlol or mavrikmeerkat will let everyone know. All you will need to do is follow the instructions on the main post, and make sure you download the correct version for your carrier (meaning the Boost release if you have Boost, Sprint for Sprint). EDIT: sorry, forgot to add that it will update you the latest 2.3.6 release, regardless of what your phone has on it now.

As for the baseband, I'm sure mav and chev have found a way to include the new one in the upcoming release, but if for some reason it's not there, there are plenty of patient people willing to help you get your phone current. ;)

This looks DOPE!!!! Cant wait to flash this, thank you guys for your hard work...you make it much easier for us trying to learn the ropes! Well Appreciated

just trying to toss out some humor while we wait :P

Slowly dying on the inside waiting for this rom to drop. chevanlol360 you are my hero! I can't wait to see what you and mavrikmeerkat have put together. I remember when you guys were working with loota a few months ago. I was in awe of your skills. It's so nice to know that there are programmers out there taking the android system to these new heights. I'm sure some of the Samsung guys are waiting to see what you've done!

On a more technical note, is there any chance that you guys could drop an odin package? I am worried that my oc kernel from bobzhome never installed properly. I would prefer to just wipe the whole phone from the ground up with Megatron. I have reinstalled shevron like 5 times trying to get the fc issue resolved, but no luck. I'm pretty sure my Transform has a serious case of the derp. I mean, the damn thing ate my 16Gb sd card. Damn troll phone. Anyway, I am looking forward to your release of 6.0 and am checking daily for the link to drop. I'm not trying to put any more of a load on you guys by requesting the Odin package, but it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you guys so much for all that you do here on AndroidForums.

P.S. When this thing drops, I'm gonna be like: "I would have waited an eternity for this." -Megatron (First transformers movie)

Megatron 6.0 is looking good but I was a little iffy about the launcher change, but I'm down for changes!!! Can't wait!!! Been using the rom for about a month and I love it....mainly im anticipating the update cause the force close of the android system is annoying lol

Thanks and We have a updater-script that wipes to entire system and also installs kernel "i have already tested it", but we will also release an Odin Package as well.

kind of off topic of the rom but do you think its a good idea to buy an extended battery for the TU right now my battery only lasts about 8 to 9 hours running $hEvRoN ROM version 5.3.2 or should i buy a replacement battery (replacement $4, extended $10) or should i wait till 6.0 to come out n see if that takes care of the problem?

EDIT: btw just trying to keep the thred alive because i find it disappointing when i check and no one has posted anything :P

wait till mega is out, you can buy that huge battery for the phone or you can buy 2 1600 mah battery for $15 bucks like i did, plus you get a dock charger for free and requires no extra cover. i havnt tested em yet cause im developing on mega and switching into recovery in and out switching roms and updating crap recently so i wont test em until im on a stable rom for a full day.
