Root {DISCONTINUED}MegaTron 6.2.5 (Updated 7/13/13)

I was on 6.0.1 when i updated to 6.0.3, that's ok right?

edit: Looks like i don't have the ICS kb from 6.0.2, so i'm guessing i shouldn't have skipped it

I restored my backup to 6.0.1, then put in 6.0.2, then before rebooting I did and advance restore of the data from my 6.0.1 backup. I figured it was probably best to let it boot before doing 6.0.3. But I got a bunch of FCs from systemui. So I'm going to restore 6.0.1 again, update to 6.0.2, reboot normal, reboot into cwm, advanced restore data, reboot normal, reboot cwm, and then update 6.0.3

Hopefully that does the trick..

edit:
So This is the method i used to update in case anyone has a similar issue.

restored 6.0.1, updated to 6.0.2, reboot normal, reboot into cwm, advanced restore data, advanced restore sd-ext, reboot normal, go to link2sd, let it make the script, reboot normal, reboot cwm, and then update 6.0.3.

So far soo good, no errors, no FC's, and all my apps are still there

OK what are custom kernels? And what is overclocking? I wanted to know these because I hear alot about BobZhomes Custom Kernels and people overclocking to do things. Plz tell me these because I want to do anything to make my phone better!

Custom kernels are kernels written by users to unlock certain settings of the processor, such as overclocking. A kernel is the code used by the operating system to control the processor.

Overclocking is the act of running the processor at a speed (frequency) higher than the manufacturer's base setting in order to achieve better performance from the whole system.

BobZhome's kernel is an example of a custom kernel, but it's NOT recommended for use with Megatron. As of 6.0.2, Megatron comes with an overclocking kernel that is compatible.

It's highly advised that you not overclock beyond 1.5Ghz, ass any higher risks burning out the processor.

i was under the assumption that the 6.0.3 update came with the modified version of Bobz kernel that Bloodawn tweaked for use in his rom? i might be wrong but yeah

im actually starting to toy around with different minimum and maximum speeds fr the processor as well as checking out some of the different governers. i have been using Ondemand setting since $hevron but after doing some research today i found that Interactive and InteractiveX are supposedly grat on performance while keeping the battery drain to a minimum when the phone isnt being used. no unofficially results yet since i did it halfway through the day when i was already off the charger for a few hours.

but basically what xaelith said is right. you also get the ability to underclock the cpu if you wanna get into the diehard stuff :P

i did but i went from 6.0.1 straight to 6.0.3 and its running great no problems

Theses are Reasons why we are considering switching back to fully wiping everything and reinstalling fresh versions instead of small OTA's that doesn't wipe anything.
People keep skipping previous updates and going straight to the latest ones.
I will most likely either do the full wipe everything on every OTA or put a code in the script so that it automatically aborts anyone who tries to skip a update.

Just a piece of helpful information for you guys, basically when I installed my theme on my phone it overwrote MegaTron's Bootani with the bootani that I put in my theme, now this creates a dilema for if you wanna go back to MegaTron's default bootani, what do you do?? Simple:

1. Plug your phone to your computer and enable Mass Storage Mode
2. On your computer click into your Storage Card and navigate to clockworkmod/backup folder

3. Double click into your MegaTron backup folder
4. Copy system.ext4.tar to your desktop
5. Open system.ext4.tar with 7zip, Winrar, or your favorite extraction utility
6. Inside the archive double click into system folder, then double click into media folder, and there you will find MegaTron's default bootani
7. Right click bootanimation.zip and extract it to your desktop
8. Once you have it on your desktop copy the bootanimation.zip to the root of your MicroSD Card
9. On your phone use a File Explorer with root privileges and copy the bootanimation.zip from the root of your MicroSD Card to system/media
10. Reboot!! Congrats you now have the default MegaTron bootani back in place!! :D

#7 extract ? copy to your desktop!! Then copy it to the root of your SD card and so on

@Chev: You guys should just keep it the way it is bro, it would be so much easier on you guys and take less time to put out an OTA at that point, not to mention smaller size to download = update quicker!! lmao!! :p

Lol acutally its easier for us to just release a full wipe in OTA's but we changed that up and switched to small zips cause its easier for you guys.

Quick question, how much will this help my battery life? And also is it needed for me to create a nandroid backup? Losing all of my data wouldnt bother me.

Hey guys, GREAT ROM!
Got it on the TU, OC'd running like a dream. Wow, what a difference from stock...lol
One thing. Is it possible to MOD the center clock back to the right? I have a couple sticky notification icons and update a few of my apps automatically so when I have a lot going on the clock gets lost in all the notifications. Also notice that when you drop down the notification bar, the date at the top cuts off part of the time.
Not sure if this can be a simple update zip or if it would mean the whole ROM would have to be modded but it sure would be nice if I could get the clock back to the right side.....

Oh, and thanks guys! Much appreciation for the countless hours spent modding.

Oh, Oh, and I'm on the Boost flavor if that matters.....

Yes - It helps battery life by getting rid of all the bloatware.

EDIT: Also depends on what you have going on. Like what apps are running all the time.

Yes - ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP

your battery life goes through the roof especially with proper wifi/3g manaement aka dont leave them on all the time when you arent using them. im using juice defender and might go through 0.5% while my phone is idle and the screen is off. it might be less then that. you'll see well over the 7-8 hours that people have been complaining about. right now ive had mine off the charger for 10 hours with casual use listening to music for about 2 hours of it and im down to 77%.

as far as your nandroid question goes. its recommended to always make a backup for just in case things go wrong or if you want/need to flash back to stock etc.

EdIT: you beat me to it lol :P

Is there a way to only allow the update manager to notify of the next iteration of updates instead of jumping to the latest one? What I mean is, say I have version 6.0 and version 6.1 AND version 6.2 have been released already. Since the current version on the handheld is only 6.0, then the updater will only notify and update to version 6.1. Then, once the ROM is updated to 6.1, then and only then will the updater show an update to 6.2.

If this were possible it would make it much easier for the devs to handle bugs and have better control on how updates are distributed, in addition to installing them in sequence.

I've been in a situation where I would put off an update just cause I was too busy to update at that time, and then I forgot about it later on... next thing I know, I'm already two versions behind. It happens, people won't always follow ever update on time. The method I mentioned above could fix this problem if it is possible to implement.

Prl changing for megatron ? Anyone wanna make a guide. Some have rumored we gettting less towers on boost than sprint. True or not I can't say but have lost about half my signal over the last 6 months. Would like to try some prls.

ok this works for megatron if you follow the guide right.

http://androidforums.com/warp-all-t...ow-change-your-msl-prl-not-cdma-workshop.html

Not sure which PRL's can be used on the Boost phone but the link you used is for the ZTE Warp. I tried DFS for the TU but the drivers are not a part of the free to use version. The ZTE drivers are obviously included in the FREE version. And, no, it does not use the standard "Samsung USB" native drivers. It will not even show up in DFS without theirs. If you got the DFS website you'll notice that you can purchase the TU drivers for something like $35 for one time use so you probably need to do a little more research or cough up the dough.

With that said, I will refrain from posting anything else here about modifying the phones internals since this thread is and should be for discussing Mav's and Chev's most awesome ROM instead of trying to break into your phone....lol.

I changed my prl. Using the info posted in that link and the drivers I had loaded I know for sure it works. Even read prl back to confirm.

Thanks guys, heres another newbie question. Whenever I put the MegaTron file into my phone, do I put the unzipped folder or the zipped file? Whenever I put the zipped file in, it said it was aborting and it wouldn't work.

I hate to say this but look at the 1st post. all instructions are there.

EDIT: You have to "pull" the zip file to the cwm backup folder.

You don't pull the zip to the cwm backup folder, you put the zip in the root of your MicroSD Card and then "Install zip from SD Card"...

Yeah yeah :) wrong terminology, I know. English major, I am not :) I will be more careful in future.
