2) No, the phone will still be carrier locked. You'll need to get the unlock code from either your cell service provider or ebay.

so i got my gapps from the link provided, and it wouldn't let me install the full gapps package. says there isn't enough room, had to go down to mini to get it to install. what do i need to do?

There simply isn't enough storage space in the phones internal storage for both the ROM and a full install of Gapps, but you really don't need all of those Gapps anyways. I typically strip any ROM down of apps I really don't need/use/want.

I think that's the boost tribute 2 which is a Leon and has a locked bootloader.

Yes, but with a locked bootloader. Tmo and Metro are the only LG Leon in the world with unlocked bootloaders. Yes I said world even LG international devices have locked bootloaders.

Impossible as soon as you flash TWRP you will get a secure boot error.
