GoodFinally....
IRC should be a lot less crowded.

yeah now the only reason for noobs to go into irc is for voodoo updates.
Im not really sure why those are pretty much just there though. No ones job is on the line if a voodoo kernel gets posted on the forums. I suppose having stuff on irc might reduce people getting into hot water but then again people are going to do what they wanna do anyway.
I know both nemesis and geeknik are fine with anyone having access to their kernels, I mean shoot geeknik even has a webpage with his.
Having the newest voodoo links here would even further reduce irc traffic and we all know those times we cannot get into irc but want the links.
Yeah no I get that part I guess Im saying most of us who frequent irc like you omj david etc etc arent posting the new kernels in here when they drop. My point is there is no real reason to keep those kernels hidden over on irc.i think its jt throws stuff into irc and doesnt feel the need to support them on xda with the ridiculous questions
if you post them on xda, seems like you gotta deal with the headaches of it i suppose, but thats just a guess
good to go everything adryn linked is the same stuff that was in irc the past 3 weeksIs this the radio release that has been only on IRC or someone's crapped up version of it? Good to flash or are we better off asking for a link in IRC still?

Im mean I have PM'd about 6-8 people in here kernels and what not routinely.
I almost think it'd be better to have stuff here instead of [or maybe better said in addition to] there for some since if they have questions they wont necessarily get washed away in the tides of irc as sometimes happens.

yeah all the higher ups, the jt's geekniks and adryn they all have both a] huge cult followings and b] detractors. Its sadly a no-win situation but yeah look at jt posting kernels in between working in his duct space. Geeknik is often up till 6am building kernels. Adryn goes out of his way to break his own SF just to test to make sure his odin package is 100% for anyone. Great guys one and all. All super helpful too 98% of the time. But like any of us we all have our moments and buttons which can be pushed.yeah its the same...use caution as always
good call....still i think your voodoo "IQ" test should be mandatory
yeah adryn goes above and beyond...even though half of xda seems to hate his posts, they still clamor for whatever he releases![]()

I flashed to DJ05 and I lost the boot animation not the sound is there anyway to get it back?
Yeah, my thought in that by keeping it on IRC, it weeded some folks (who probably shouldn't be using it) out from going to get it because it involved extra steps. By in large part, my experience with rooting and the rooting community has been that those who are more inept will typically only go with the easiest solution and fewest clicks, and if it's a little too much, they'll just whine until someone gives it to them, then they complain when they screw things up.
I know I screwed up my first Fascinate, did JT's w/o Voodoo, and I guess my phone just hated it and imploded. I did the same thing with my current SF, and have no problems. My thing is to really research before rooting and even more so with different ROMs and kernels. I waited 5 months before rooting my Eris, a month before my Droid and a month for my SF. I've grown more confident over time, but I spend time just reading on here and XDA learning as much as possible beforehand.
Just my $.02![]()
You need to make sure your new kernel supports custom bootanimations. If it does, just replace the old one in /system/media just like you did before.

Agreed I put my custom bootaimation in data/local and it always overrides anything that might be built into someone else's kernelor data/local...your system checks there first before system/media![]()
Is anyone having the issue of renaming/moving bloat with Root Explorer? I now get a message its "read-only".

up top on the right, click to change it to r/w![]()
And... Voodoo has been posted too. Overclocked, even.

and i got banned for 10 days too ... see ya on XDA on the 20th! ... lol... the funniest part is... i was so mad and felt so justified, i said, "and i better not be permabanned!" and they didn't so big ups XDA.![]()
