I just spent about three hours with Pure Eris 2.0 (same dev as Fresh 2.1.1) on my phone.

The launcher choices are Home and Helix; I chose Helix and moved into my customizations, settings and tweaks.. including being able to over clock faster than any ROM so far: 810/528 with no ill effects I can detect at all. Amazing speed and functionality.

Cons: The "personalize" menu FCs for any attempt at a sub menu... also, and this is noted at the download page, power down does not work at all, requiring a battery pull to turn the device off.

If a patch comes along for those two issues I'll have a new fave. ;) That OC is something else!

Upto 15 'recent apps' displayed.

Amazing, eye-popping stuff there, hookem.

At the download page it says the Google apps have to be flashed separately, did that get changed?

It would be Evil Eris 3.0, but for the amount of storage it takes up. My default ROM right now is xtrROM 2.1. It's fast and is very stable.

Google apps are still a separate flash. (legal requirement)

If you try it. Be sure to go into settings > sound and display and turn off 'animations'. It's set to 'All animations' by default and slows things way down.

That's always been one of my first settings. I like a bright screen and my slot cycle at 0, so I try to take as many other battery/resource saving measures as I can.

I'm going to give that ROM a go right now. Thanks for sharing.

That's what we're all here for... ;)

Using Handcent is probably related to the typical MMS issue that a lot of non-HTC ROMs have, so the answer might be "no". That is, if you want to be able to send MMS (receive should be okay).

Ivan's Eris Official 1.0 w/overclocking

its actually stable at 806.

linpack at 5.3 MFLOPS

does anyone know if i can get my phone faster?

i have JIT and the OC Kernal.

How do some ROMs include them ? Are they simply skirting the law (copyright/trademark ?) ?

Any rom made that uses caynogenmod has to keep them separate. Google issued the creator of caynogen a Cease and Desist order about including gapps in any of his mods, which applies to anything based off of his work. Thats my understand of what has occured.

Yes, I was aware of the C&D sent to "cyanogen". The others, I guess, are just too small for Google to bother with at this point (?).

TCP/SoCal Rom's: Pure Eris 2.0

I believe it is because the personalize menu uses sense or something like that (not compatible with the ROM). I had some issues using bookmarks in the browser as well. You should give Fresh 2.1.1 a shot if you enjoyed Pure Eris. Those guys make some really neat/clean ROMS.

I've been into three more ROMs today.

Senseable 3.1 keeps winning me back, though. I think it's the stability.

Here's my current home screen:

Ivan's Eris Official 1.0 w/overclocking

it just works, and its fast with overclock. the next version ivan is working on undervolting the cpu(just like I can do on laptops and PCs), so this will reduce power consumption while keeping the same speed. He's also working on various speed tweaks, so we still get Sense with the benefits of root and tweaking.

just for fyi, and correct me if im wrong

since the froyo is a google release, theres no need to take out the google bits. they dont need to be flashed seperatly. punk.kaos i just dont think has added them in yet because of time constraints.

CM couldnt use them because his is not an official google release, its a HEAVILY modded version.

I have tried nearly all of them, and by that I mean about 15. I stay with EE, currently running 3.0, my wife is on 2.0.1.

I find it the most stable, I have no bugs, FC, ect. I really like Sense. It is a little on the heavy side. With the theme in 2.0.1 and it coming soon to 3.0, it is almost something I would have done myself, I love it. Plus, all or nearly all of the stock apps are removed, the ones I never wanted to begin with and Titanium takes care of the rest.

I am OC to 767, you can see on the widget what I am when it is plugged in, it is the same plugged in as it is in sleep.

I like EE, too. It's still in my phone and I'll "recover" to it now and then.. but Senseable just seems to be smoother for me, even though I was able to OC EE to 748 with no ill effects; Senseable maxes at 710 but I seen no differences at all in speed, just the "smoother" feeling (can't come up with a better word for the differences).

I am still on the hunt for a ROM which is well crafted without Sense.. I tried Pure Eris, however it is unfinished and buggy (I keep hoping I'll get the most out of rooting by being able to fix a ROM myself sometime).

If you're looking for the vanilla experience, ErisLightningBolt or White Widow are probably your best choices. I had pretty intense battery drain with ELB and a number of FCs/bugs with WW, but it seems like every phone/setup reacts differently to each rom, so I'd most definitely give them a try. Both are CyanogenMod-based.

You might want to try out xtrROM as well. It looks kinda neat. I haven't tried it personally, but it's on my to-do list.

At the moment, I'm running CyanogenEris and haven't had any problems beyond a little tweaking to get MMS to work.

its been evil eris for a few weeks but now you guys got my itching to switch to something else.....thanks alot....lol
