Root Does z4 root work with new gingerbread

Hey guys, just installed the gb2 leak. I had my phone rooted using z4 root in the past. Can i use this on the new gb2 leak or will it mess up my phone.

You installed the 3 part GB 2 leak right? If you did, then you are already rooted.....and no, z4root does not work on any version of GB.
 
No, as far as GB goes, Motorola has made it impossible to use on this and future builds. Rooting is getting harder and harder. Thankfully, it come pre-rooted as bouchingo put it.
 
SBF to 2.340 Full

Factory Reset.

z4root

d2 bootstrap

boot into recovery.

install all 3 zip files in order without leaving recovery.

Reboot, if it loops for 10+ minutes. Factory recovery. Wipe data / cache.
 
Wait a minute when I first sbf back to 340 and downloaded .573 which wasnt rooted not the 3 file download I had to use z4 inorder to get root. It wasnt rooted i know that for a fact but as you guys mentioned I have read the same thing but I did root on 573

Not sure what you did but I promise that z4root was not the way. It has never worked for GB builds. With both GB builds that have been rooted, you have had to sbf to 2.3.340 and then flash to an already rooted rom.

here is a download link to the files you need, this sbf is specifically for 2.3.340 which is the current version from vzw, rsd and sbf go on your pc not phone and rsd is a program that pushes the sbf to your x while connected to the computer in a nutshell, here is a link for downloads as well as another you should familiarize yourself with that has lots of info on sbf and much more,

I used RSDlite 4.7 when I sbf'ed back to stock froyo. I have to say, this is THE easiest method for sbf'ing back to stock. Worked like a charm for me. And I'm still a noob to boot. gotta love it!

And for those that may see this and are new. When you hear everyone say you must be on stock froyo to flash the latest GB, They mean it. Stock EVERYTHING! Not one app can be modified, deleted, or changed in ANY way. your phone MUST be in the same factory condition as it was when you got the phone.

I'm no longer a dumb founded noob. I graduated to still learning noob. Now I can help to pass on what I have learned to the newcoming dumb founded....lol
