Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

after almost 24 hrs on 7.20, can`t see any difference between 7.18-7.19-7.20 at least in terms of battery.
back to 5.89, juice is more important for me, to quote ironass "this baby is the best for battery IMHO" :thumb: and "the bells and whistles of the v7.x releases" doesn`t sound like a symphony....yet.:D

If you like Dorimanx v5.89, then you could give v5.92 a try as you are on ICS.

I'm using it now, in conjunction with ExTweaks and ExTweaks Plus, on extreme_battery with Conservative for screen on and off, (not convinced about screen off separate governor), and noop scheduler, (any problems, try ondemand and sio), with ZRAM off and BLN on with Keys LED timout at 1 sec. Cortexbrain enabled and Auto Wi-Fi and Brightness unchecked and Wi-Fi Low PWR, checked.

Am getting stupid battery life with this and no SOD's, freezes or FC's.

This is the sort of battery I get with the v5.x kernel as opposed to the v7.x.

Thanks ironass. I used to get very good results with 5.89 (pics attached, old ones). I`ll let it settle for a day or two and post back.
I`m using extreme_battery profile, conservative for on/off with sio scheduler, all the other settings as you mentioned.

Now..after going back to 5.89, STweaks is still the app in charge. Shall I take it off and go back to ExTweaks or keep it with all the mentioned settings????

Thanks ironass. I used to get even better than that with 5.89. I`ll let it settle for a day or two and post back.

If STweaks works for you... then fine. I found that on v5.x that ExTweaks was better for me when it came to setting the Profile.

Judging from your screenies and my experience, I could not get that sort of battery life on v7.x.

Dori 7.22 is now up.

Guess who posts next??? :D

Me! Because I waited until Dorimanx posted his changelog at 16.41 hrs. You know the changelog Hawker... the bit with all the important info in. ;)

(I swear that it's a lot easier to train a gun dog! )

Just wondering, is there anyone on here on a Sammy ICS ROM who has cron jobs working?
I've never got it to work even tho its all reporting as online etc in STweaks.

I've a feeling it needs the AOKP/JB version of busybox installed for it to work properly, but not sure.

As I'm giving up on crons and 7.21 was quite poor for me last night (lost 3% in 8 hours overnight) I'm back on 5.92 for now to compare battery...

BTW after going back to 5.89 yesterday, I started getting randomly disconnected from the carrier during calls. Had this issue previously, but after flashing XWLPY was gone. Today got cut bout 6 times in the middle of the discussion.
@ironass, how to uninstall STweaks? Not showing an uninstall button.
Any ideas what might cause this behavior?

Dorimanx v5.92 still holds the all time battery record for me! OK, it's basic and lacks all the fripperies of the v7.x releases... but it gets the job done.

Had a quick double take earlier today. I reset CPUSpy before a meeting and when I looked at it again, about 3 hours later... I'd used -1% battery!

Before anyone gets excited... the battery must have re-calibrated itself during that period. ;)

I'm missing the "turbo charged, go faster stripes included with all added extras" of this kernel compared to standard Siyah. I like the "safety" of Siyah though. Ah decisions, decisions.

You've got to love the SGSII, so many ways to tweak, flash, improve (and if your not careful, kill) it.

U r late with this info good few hours ;)

Btw this ver is terrible with battery :( after 8h of just listening to music battery went to 15%.... It never happened before. I revert back to 7.18 as for the moment I got best results on this ver.
I tried 5.92 but jkay seems not to work with it. Is it normal or sth fcked up on my phone? Because then I flashed 7.18 and everything went back to normal.

I was late, lol. Should read the posts I've not read in a thread first. :) I think I just wanted ironass and Hawker to stop bickering about change logs !

This place wouldn't be the same if I wasn't bickering with that wrinkled old cheese-chasing monkey boy!

Looks as if Dori will finally have the cron jobs fixed for the next release and has spotted a bug. Ties in with all my findings so far, so I reckon it'll be ok for 7.23.

Dorimanx v7.22 was actually quite good on battery for me. However, as a test, I ticked all the Cron Task services and it is only showing the hourly cache clear as being done! As Hawker says, hopefully this will be sorted out in v7.23.

Waldorf and Staler! That's rich coming from Mr, I am six hours late with the breaking news, dynomot!

Can't wait for him to inform us that Queen Victoria is looking sickly, the Titanic is a bit overdue and that Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria will be holidaying in Sarajevo! ;)

I flashed the new kernel last night and found I couldn't save my VC settings to /etc/init.d. It appeared to be locked as r/o and Root Explorer couldn't mount as r/w. I'm back with v7.21 for now.
