That's true too. For anyone that needs AirCard with unlimited LTE this is really the only option. It's as fast as home internet connection but on the go. And if you travel a lot, it's priceless. I actually downgraded my home internet because of that.

Good point. My friend, who works for the Fish and Wildlife Department, goes out of the country at least once a month as part of a team that helps other nations with their wildlife departments, and Alaska as well. So he needs something like that.

But I think that the majority of us, myself included, don't travel all that much, and if we do, it's rarely out of the country. That's why I don't care if it's a world phone or not.

Now, the possibility that our unlimited 4G will some day be capped or slowed down like the poor idiots over at AT&T, that does scare me a bit. I do tether at times, but only when the wifi signal is out for some reason. It's a rare occasion.

However, and this is a huge however, I do plan to use the Netflix app. Not every day or anything, but sometimes I find myself waiting somewhere or really bored, and I know I'll want to use it. Netflix is going to eat up a LOT of GBs. I don't get how Verizon can get mad if we download a lot, knowing that apps like Netflix are going to be such hogs.

Either they'll get rid of the Netflix app in their phones, or they'll just grin and bare it.

You know, I was thinking about getting ride of my home internet completely, but I came to the conclusion that the way I use my router (my 360 is wired into it and I use TVersity to stream video THROUGH the router to the 360), would probably not be conducive to my phone acting as a router.

Maybe in 2 years when they develop a more battery efficient phone I would be willing to try replacing my internet with it.

Although, I AM curious, where did you read that you cannot get unlimited tethering for the $30? I thought that was simply tied into the unlimited plans and if you were grandfathered you could pick it up for $30?

I would love to see the news release/thread that you saw it in.

The unlimited tethering is available only to LTE phone users that had the phone before July 7th and used the free unlimited tethering promo. Tethering has never been unlimited on Verizon. They've always had 2GB and up data allotments.

Does Verizon do anything to you if you tether via PDAnet or a rooted tethering program without having the tethering plan?

AT&T seems to be sending out texts to users saying something stupid like "Oh, did you know that you're screwing us over? We're sure you didn't, so this is your first and final warning. Hmmm, yes, bye bye now."

@#$%!!!!!!!

No no no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was happy with the Bionic. I don't wanna hear nothing about any new phone.

<puts fingers in ears> La la la la la la, I'm not listening...

Screw it, the Bionic will hold me off for 2 years.

I am tired of dealing with this...

Looks like we might be getting LTE SGS2 after all. But with 4.5" screen and 1.5Ghz dual core.

LTE Samsung Galaxy S II Surfaces, Codenamed Celox

I am sure we will...someday! But I'll take one, unless something better comes along in the interim. In the meantime, my orinigal Droid is working fine, and I don't need 4g because I am relatively housebound and use wifi 99% of the fine, and it isn't available here nor do expect it anytime soon.

Now the kicker about the GS2.....

Will it have a Tegra 2 or Snapdragon...

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 was just legally blocked in parts of Europe:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Sales Now Blocked in Europe Thanks to Apple

I think pretty soon there are gonna be some "are you just frustrated" GS2 threads popping up soon. (along with hate Apple for the Galaxy S Tab issue threads.)

Wow, that stinks. I mean yes, Samsung products do kind of rip off Apple, but I think it's actually an improvement over apple's crap.

I think Good really needs to jump in at this point. They should start suing Apple for iOS5 copying notification and some other features from Android. This way they can keep Apple busy defending it and keep them from diverting their resource to crushing their competitions (Samsung, HTC, etc) in courts.

AMEN TO THAT!

Drop-down notifications, speech-to-text, widgets? Real Apple innovations there! I'd throw a different lawsuit in there for every single "feature" crApple nicked from Android!

... of course, everyone's lawyers will laugh all the way to the bank, while we eventually pay $500 subsidized prices for cell phones

To me Apple is evil! If they succeed in banning Galaxy tab across the globe, it will be serious blow to android tablet growth. Google just can't sit back and do nothing when android device manufacturers are under lawsuit attack from fruit company.

How Steve Jobs seriously thinks he has a fundamental RIGHT to sell his products free of any competition just bewilders me... and what stupefies me is that some judge somewhere agrees with him! No Galaxy Tabs in the EU???

The judge must be a friggin' fanboi...

How would you feel if you were an artist, a songwriter lets say, and you've created a number one music hit, designed your own album cover, even packaging, and then another artist blatantly copies the song write different lyrics on it, steals your album art, and signs it as his/hers?

Exactly... Now I'm not defending anyone here, but what Samsung in particular is doing is really pushing Apple's (home) buttons, blatantly trying to copy industrial design, GUI, all the way to the actual packaging of their phones. They even approved smart-cvoer look-a-like in their stores for a brief period of time!
Let's be real here for just a second.

That said, I'd still buy GS2 in a heartbeat if they made LTE version on Verizon :)

There are only so many effective design possibilities as to the shape and size of a tablet, and I believe that a good many of Apple's patents are way too broad.

That said, Samsung's main low blow to Apple (in my opinion) was in copying the proprietary dock connector. This technique has been a great money maker for Apple, to the extent that even aftermarket copies still have to pay royalties to Apple for the patented functions they do specifically for Apple's patented devices.

Going with that proprietary crap is a low blow to the openness and universality of Android in the first place, not to mention a cheap money grab attempt, but they are definitely encroaching on Apple's terrain.

It's a tactic I wholeheartedly criticize Apple for in the first place. Now Samsung is copying it to make some extra dinars?

As much as I love my Fascinate, and as much as I want the SGSII, their tablet does copy a few things it shouldn't. They could've made it enough different/better/etc. that a lawsuit wouldn't seem as necessary or justified.

Great point, but let's also mention GS2's square coated icons, swiping home screens, home button, packaging, etc... They really went blatantly over the top imho.

That's all configurable and changeable without even rooting, i.e. Launcher Pro, ADW, stock launcher if you do root, etc. Yes, the square icons and horizontal scrolling are similar, but that's just your app drawer and some icons that you can also change. There are still loads of functional widgets and a custom drop-down notification screen that you get with touchwiz (and other android launchers) that aren't even remotely similar to your interface on the iPhone. That proprietary hardware interface is 100% Apple. They've been doing that since the iPod and on both generations of iPad so far.

I do agree that they probably did that to be more competitive with the iPhone AND to make a transition from iDefectors more iPhoney so they would have an easier time adjusting to the competition.

Honestly I wish they hadn't done that. I much prefer vertical smooth scrolling and my own custom icons. Samsung really should make TW a little less iOS like, at least at face value. I know it has lots of power and utility, at least the latest version, but the horizontal scrolling and copycat icons are indeed a bit of an issue. I agree with you there. I just haven't thought about it much because it's one of the first things I replaced on my Fascinate and the wife's. We're both running the stock android launcher instead, and I run launcher pro from time to time.

Yep, that's how it works every time. It's also funny cause you thanked for that post...

They really did go over the top with TouchWiz. I've seen it, and it's iOS with all of the Android goodness. The home button thing is ridiculous as well. I'm pretty sure if they had just used 4 buttons, Apple wouldn't have sued. It's that large of a copy.

Just so we know, the Celox is 800 MHz LTE, so not coming to the states (We are 700 MHz). But its nice to see what one might possibly look like for here. So no guarantees we will be getting it, although with Apple paying off the judges in Europe to get favorable rulings (my bitter view, not factual), the States might be the only place they CAN sell. So we'll see.
