droid charge

I think the need to have "the latest and greatest" in cellphones only serves to make cellphone companies even wealthier. If they truly cared about customer satisfaction, they would make the phones software work without a hitch. Instead they come out with a newer model to get you to spend more money on a phone you don't need.

Unfortunately, that's the way of the cellphone world. Stick to you DX. it's a good phone and a lot of fun to play with. Sorry for the ramble but that's how I see it.

if you chose the droid X over the fascinate to begin with, why would you get the charge? its a slightly bigger 4g fascinate :)

we all have the first phone to display this big screen, first with a 8mp camera and hd video. the only downside to this phone, and its the only one is the locked bootloader.

other than that this phone is PERFECT!

idk if its PERFECT...

- the phone should have come with what we know as the "extended battery" as the stock battery...

- front facing camera should have been included

- the 1.2ghz cpu stock would have been nice

ok couple things here lol
-do you think you can notice 200 mhz? i cant lol
-a front facing camera wasnt concieved until the iphone 4 and if you look at the back of your dx you notice the 8 mp camera creates that nice lip lol, otherwise it would be flat
-and this battery lasts longer than every htc, most samsungs, and more than the other motorola's

its a 20% increase in clock speed...thats fairly significant

rubbish...Sony Ericsson had a flip phone with a front facing camera in the early 2000's...quality was poor, but to think the iPhone4 was the first is nonsense...

nobody is calling for an 8MP front facing camera....

longer? yes...but in all honesty that isn't saying much...the X is good for a modern smart phone...but its still not great...the iPhone beats the X fairly easily...

so you got me on the ff camera, i wasnt aware of that one :p i admitt im wrong

and a 8mp ff would be badass, but as of now no time soon, i see where your saying the x can be improved but when you got it for that time of smart phones it is perfect, its outdated with all the new features now but back then it was the best as far as specs go... sorta

No denying it was the best hardware when it came out...but there was A LOT Moto could have done to better future proof the phone...my suggestions were readily available tech that would have allowed the X to further separate itself from the likes of the Dinc and Evo...

the dinc didnt have anything special, except a unlocked bootloader
the evo is the same way, and a kickstand, i dun understand why the evo is so popular

you care to share wisdom o wise one?

Welp, I saw Rob Jackson's good review of this last night on the Phandroid site. What he said confirmed what phonearena said, only he expanded on it. Phonearena said the Charge only got consistant 1000's on quadrant. hmmm..., thought I.

Rob said he noticed the same thing. He also said that the screens were a bit laggy/jumpy and that there were serious scrolling issues within the browser especially when viewing flash sites.

Translation? Underpowered. No sir, not for me. I need my 1900 plus quadrants with GB on the DX, thank you.

Wisdom enough? Too much? :)

The Dinc has Sense which is still the best UI for Android...and really beats the pants off what cones installed on the X from the factory...

in any case the x could of had dual core, and could have made my breakfast this morning too

I don't understand the defensiveness over me criticizing that hardware of the X...obviously I like the phone...I order it the moment it became available ...actually about 30 minutes before midnight the night it was released on Verizon's site...somehow it let me order it early...

I even said in this thread I was sticking with the phone...I just don't see any reason ti not be able to point out the areas that IMO were not exceptionally well designed from the get go...

There were certain areas where Moto really could have set themselves apart from the competition and would have helped keep the X as the flagship device for maybe a little longer as well...

I tried to go find one of the free phones and was first on location but did not find it first. However, I did play around with the Charge. It was nice. For free, I'd have gladly taken it. Getting for two years? No way! Single core and the reps excuse was that they traded off the extra speed for better performance on 4G. Meh.

o i know im just being a smartass right now :p
but im glad you like sense ui, i had it on my eris and absolutely despised it.

i like pure vanilla android, nothing with manufacters stuff on it like touchwiz or sense, and verizons bloat

but then they wouldnt make money :p no one would buy another device of theirs :p

I agree. Apple has the balls to sell a new color of a year old phone and it's working! My sister went out and bought it and is happy as can be. I tried to get her to wait on the next version but she said that this phone does all that she wants it to do.

Why wouldn't Moto take a page from the Apple playbook? Even the front facing camera is a HUGE deal right now. I would pass on a fast as hell phone to have that feature.

Why put every single feature on one phone when they can add a new one to a phone and give it a different name and model number. Then everyone will rush out to buy it just like they do when every other new phone that comes out. That is how they are making a killing off of people like us.

Add a new feature, change the look and walla! Someone is dropping another $500-$600 to get it. There will never be 1 phone that has everything, if it did then they wouldn't make money the way they do.

The best thing to do is find the right one for you and stick with it. Even then one day it will be obsolete and you will soon be looking for something new again...

Even the manufacturers can't keep up with technology. Kind of like we can't keep up with leaks, rom's ect.... Once there is something new then we are quick to jump on it, even if it is the tiniest of changes...

The Galaxy S II looks sexy as hell, I think that may end up being my next phone, depending on what the Verizon version is like.

Messing around with a TBlot for a few hours really makes you realize how poor the X is in some ways straight out of the box...

i thought i liked vanilla android...then i saw GingerBlur...

its even caused me to hold back on flashing my favorite ROM (ApeX) because i find Vanilla Android to be absolutely boring now...

Only to an extent...but Moto also missed the boat on things like the FFC with the D2, D2G, and DPro....

Those features on the X wouldn't have kept people from buying Moto's new phones...it still would have been a single core processor, and would have had less memory than the new phones...

of course what you're saying make sense from a business model...but all i said was that the X was not perfect, and there were things available at the time that could have made it a better phone...and it still would have been outclassed by something like the Bionic...or the Atrix (with 4G anyway)...
