Droid X 2.3 update

I remember the big update for the BB Storm dropped on a Sunday night at midnight Eastern (so technically Monday morning for them) a couple of years ago, and that's actually when it was scheduled

I don't see why people are getting so excited about when the OTA update will hit. Personally I'd rather obcess over why I haven't gotten the Android 3.1 update on my WiFi Xoom! :p

are you referring to when it officially finally got BB 5.0 software? I think i remember that. ...although like i am with my x i had already hacked my BB 9650 and was running a hybrid OS on it lol

My gut says you're right. My mind says "move this thread to where it belongs, dammit!" The mind uses profanity sometimes. :p

correct - it was the "biggest thing ever" on the forums, but after everyone realized that BB only made more problems, the hybrids started up again. I ran several of them myself.

I do remember seeing a lot more people posting about that coming out than this potential OTA, though...

damn....my bad Steven i'm so used to cruising the "all things root" section i didn't even realize i posted it in there instead of the plain X forum.

No problem. It just gives me something meaningful to do with my meaningless life. :p

Oh god, don't even bring up RIM and the big 5 O step. Let me find a way to squeeze out just one more meg of ram... or reboot, whichever comes first...

OP - I wouldn't put any money on it, we get it, when we get it, or choose to revert to froyo, one of those 2

Even if it drops tomorrow I'm not installing it yet. Gonnna wait for user feedback before permanently going away from my very smooth working X on 2.2.

I concur. But the rumor mill has been prepared all week for this thread, there's a few articles claiming there'll be a few people to get it on the 13th, but 16th will be everyone else.

Baulderdash.

I don't fret about this stuff but speculation is fun if it's lighthearted. Just got a tweet that the DroidX2 is being released on May 26 with GB. Maybe they want the new, shiny phone to have GB first. :p

lets just be happy that they didn't come out and say "END OF SUMMER"
the words that still haunt my phone to this day

Maybe, they won't offer it for the DX at all, and the leaks have all been for the DX2? :p

Droid X owners are to receive a free upgrade to the Droid X 2 upon release plus $100 credit towards accessories? That's the latest rumor from some guy named Mephistopholes, but it should make for a bit of advertising revenue on some bs web blog somewhere.

Haha! Love it!!:D

Hey guys, I'm running Liberty 1.5, underclocked, ADW launcher, yadda yadda yadda. The problem is, when I flashed the first ROM on my phone, I made the BIG mistake of not backing up the factory version. I've loaded most of the original apps back on, but there are still some I can't find, like Alarm & Timer, Backup Assistant, City ID, NFS, my Accounts, etc. I've searched for these on the market, but of course dozens of similar apps pop up on the search results, so I'm stuck not knowing which ones to download.

If I don't have these on my phone, will I still be able to download the OTA and run the official release of GB?

No you will have to SBF back to stock Froyo. Also with the OTA you will lose root. Id wait it out until its rooted before attempting anything if I were you.

I'll be waiting for the rooted n deodexed version so doesnt matter to me lol. I cant stand all the white so I'm def not gonna get myself stuck with it lol

I went to a vzw store to check out the thunderbolt the other day and one the vzw reps was saying that they were told the ota gingerbread probably wasn't getting released for the older phones so I've been thinking about upgrading the the thunderbolt but until I decide what I wanna do ill stick with my dx running 2.3.595
