Root Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

Hoping a future update fixes the bugs. I used to run on LV@ 1.3 and had that set on boot. Highest I can go now is 1.25 without setting at boot. if I choose anything on boot even 1.1... I go into a boot loop.

the update he pushed out late last night should fix it. however there should be another minor update soon as well.

I can boot up again with the latest update, which restores the older overclock kernel. But JRummy should be more careful when releasing updates. I understand a dev putting out a beta that might cause a bootloop, but when I download an update on the Market I assume it's a stable release.
I'm not the only one that was inconvenienced by having to restore a nandroid because of JRummy's carelessness. What ticks me off most is that JRummy doesn't take responsibility for creating the problem by putting an untested update on the Market. He claims:
"If you are experiencing boot loops don't blame it on the version of the app quite yet. First off, what are you overclocking to? If you are overclocking to 1.4 GHz on low voltage for example of course you might experience boot loops. The Droid X or Droid 2 wasn't made to run at these speeds..." (See his full explanation here).
Come on JRummy. I made no changes to my settings. The first time I booted my phone after your update I got stuck at the M and had to restore a nandroid. Your update was responsible for my bootloop problem, and many others. Man up and admit your mistake, and be more careful when releasing updates on the Market to paying customers.

At least mine would get to the os so i could uninstall it. But it caused some serious panic for a while. To tell me the boot loop was my fault makes no sense. Ive been running 1.35 for a while with no boot issues. Now one version comes out and suddenly it doesnt work and its my fault?! Come on...

Thanks. No more boot loop, but not stable past 1.2 anymore. I think the last stable one for me was 1.6.7 or something like that.

is that why 1.35 isnt stable any more for videos? I thought I finally overheated something. :/
I was going to go back and do more testing now with different vsel settings. Guess Ill see how this thread updates to figure it out.

tried to set it at medium on the highest and it froze and rebooted did it again and same thing, now using it on low at 1.25. is that good??

now the phone is rebooting on its own set to that one too

Ever heard of baby steps? No-ones going to be able to use the fastest speed. Try starting around 1.3 at VLF, if it's stable, great, O/W drop the speed.

Do NOT set it for boot for a couple days.

If that doesn't work, leave it at default and wait for an update. Sounds like some people had issues with the latest versions.

i wish the old version were available still. I think 1.7x was my most stable. Maybe even before that. I know Jrummy said nothing changed, but now I cant even get videos to play for any length of time before it locks up and reboots, where as before my ONLY issue was navigating for long lengths of time would cause it to hang.

Im not even stable @ LV @ 1.15ghz now. Sheesh! Anyone have a old version they can PM? 1.5-1.6ish? 1.8X isnt cutting it

Anyone lose their 1X when they overclock? I can access data but not make a phonecall for some reason.

Could it be b/c I'm on Fission?

I'm still able to overclock at the same rate I was before the last update.
mine seems vastely less stable now. I used to have a LV 1.35 clock that was rock solid unless i used the NaV for more than an hour. now I get less than 10 minutes before something freaks it out. Trying more voltage settings to see if I can get back but 1.35 @ 72 was awesome.

I've been using this scale for a while on both ApeX and Fission without any reboots.

350000 - 31
700000 - 44
1000000 - 54
1350000 - 66

Trying the above out right now, initial results blow away the app based ULV @ 1.3 that i was using ....lets hope it stays stable on my phone ..

Thoes settings were working ok for me until I ran some games, it started turtleing and heating up more than usual, then I had a reboot, I tried switching over to the "experimental" module in the settings, It was even worse.

I reset and im starting with just a mild 1.2 at just over stock voltage for the #4 slot, the rest are at stock values for now, this is also on the experimental module.

good luck tweaking everyone

Ulv or lv what's the big difference? I can run smooth 1.2 on ulv if I move to 1.25 random reboot but on lv I run 1.25 smoothly. So I ask what's the difference? Also got a quadrant score of 1541 dunno what that means

Did you test 1.25 with a stress app (runs the cpu at 100%) for an extended period of time? If you can run a week and get no flakiness, reboots or FC's that weren't there before, that's usually a good sign.

I used SetCpu (info... stress test) and ran it for 20 minutes to make sure 1.35 @ ULV was stable. About a week later I had a crash from dialer that wasn't there before so I dropped it to 1.30. I probably could have left it at 1.35. My battery life has increased after OC'ing my X.

The difference? ULV will get you longer battery life and less heat, assuming everything else equal.

Several questions.First I just downloaded it usinf the QR in Post #26. I have another overclocking app I have been using should I uninstall it? Will they conflict with each other.

FYI. this just got updated to fix a few small things. but he also added in profiles. i still use setcpu to display on my screen since jrummy's widget does not seem to update correctly. but nice to see new features.
