Droid X Froyo quadrant score

I guess it does suck if you base your phone choice solely on a benchmark test. My rooted, over-clocked, Droid 1 is getting in the 1700s. Does it perform better than my Drod X in everyday use? No way! Not even close. Personally the Fascinate felt terrible to me when I tried it out.

Did you completely miss the part about graphic performance? Watch the fps of the moon spinning and going through the hallways in quadrant. Then watch a clip on youtube of a galaxy s device doing it.

I just am dissappointed that a processor with the same clock speed is doing 5x the FPS.

And how does that "spinning moon" affect your day to day performance exactly? My point was, which you obviously missed, is that it doesn't translate into better all around performance. Even on gaming, you barely see a difference, if any, between the Galaxy S line and the Droid X or Droid 2. Stop putting all your faith in these useless benchmark tests! You have a great processor in the DX! Here's the proof.

It all depends on what you do day-to-day with your phone.

Look at what Quadrant measures - CPU, IO, Memory, 2D and 3D. The first 3 will matter to your day-to-day usage IF you are a heavy user. If all you do is texting and occasional browsing, then I agree it doesn't matter.

As for graphics, if the program runs fine on Droid 2, that's because it didn't push the hardware to the limit.

If you saw how Desktop technology evolve for many many years, you will see some similar patterns here. Higher resolution, more textures, more anti-aliasing, etc. All of this demand more GPU power. If you don't care, then you don't need higher end GPUs.

1281 on 2.1 after being on for a couple days straight.

1400 or so after initial install.

901 just now.

edit: reran after giving phone time to "wake up"

1417

1380-1480 I've seen since 2.2 install yesterday.

My fav thing is the battery life now is amazing!

2.2 froyo,OTA...rooted.
deoxed. using this.. http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/158274-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html
running this theme..http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...-custom-theme-experience-8-colors-choose.html

as you can see by the time, i did 3 in a row.

1311 right after installation

Then I removed bloatware, and rebooted then got

1451

Force killed some more apps and got

1465

Noooow to look into overclocking. ;)

scores in the 2000 are false scores. Its caused by applying the stagefright mod to the build.prop It causes it to skip a step in the benchmark test completely and the test thinks it just flies thru it.

So instead of speeding up any part of Quadrant test, it simply skips one of the test? Which test does it skip?

It skips the H.264 video decoding step. Normally, simply affecting the performance on one step out of all of them wouldn't be as big a deal, but since it immediately "finishes," - i.e. the time goes from a second or two, to zero - it ends up affecting the benchmark scores a lot.

Just another reason why these phone benchmarks shouldn't be relied upon as the be-all, end-all performance indicator.

I have my phone OCed to 1.2ghz. I got a 1471 on my first test running Setcpu at 300/1200. I changed it to 1200/1200 and got a 1663. Not shabby, but I would never run my phone at 1200/1200. No reboot but plugged into power.

so is the stagefright mod part of deoxed? because i never downloaded any separate files. and can i delete it? thanks

yes, stagefright was baked into deodex because at the time it was believed that it was a galaxy s type fix and not a "trick" quadrant only fix.

just use root explorer and go into your build.prop and open in text editor and change the values all to false from true (there should be 4)

if you don't you won't be able to view the videos you record with your phone.
