Droid X Gingerbread Patch News

In mid June, on the phone, a Verizon tech told me that - for sure - an update to fix GB's problems would be available by the end of June.

Don't believe it until you are able to update officially. They just hear rumors and spread them around to keep people from making their job more difficult with a return or warrenty claim.

P3droid tweeted either yesterday or a couple of days ago, I can't remember now, but anyway, he said the update was coming. He didn't say when it was coming, but it's coming.

about 20 minutes ago he also stated that when it drops he will set a record with how fast it is rooted and in the TBH app lol

I went to the Verizon store today and they told me the same thing. They asked me to delete all the apps and then do a factory data wipe. and then install one by one to see if any would trigger the problems i was having. Instead i just asked for a new phone since i thought i was under warranty. Go to find out since i bought this DX off of a friend that they could not help me unless i make an insurance claim on it. WTF, they never told me about when i went to get it activated and i still am paying on the extended warranty.

Demand a credit for the peroid of time you have been paying for the warranty. Im pretty sure they have to cover it...they have your MIED,and are charging you....they are accepting your money. You havent misrepresented your device, the numbers are all there.....If they told me that, there would have been a discussion then and there, either id be getting a credit that day or a new phone.

This is the response I just received back from AE at VZW on twitter. Looks there is hope for us after all. Hang in there as I am also with some issues.

VZW Support Twitter response: There are updates in the testing phase by VZW and others Motorola is still investigating. A patch should be released soon. ^AE

The last time I was in a Verizon store was because the Gallery stopped opening. The first two things the rep blamed were apps. Then he wanted me to download an app killer. Then do a factory reset. I finally found the solution in this forum (and it had nothing to do with any of the rep's suggestions).

I was only stating that I was never trained to blame an application for a problem. In fact I am not trained to say anything on tech related issues because I work in a SALES center. Yes, I know some stores might have "Technicians" on staff but mine doesn't, and if you find one that does it is likely it won't be there long. Any tech is going to obviously tell you get down to the root of the phones issues by removing apps. Its a basic "script" for diagnosing problems with ANY technical device. If I call Dell tech support and say I keep freezing they will likely ask me if I have installed any software recently. I feel like people think Verizon is full of devil worshiping maniacs out to screw you at every bend. At the end of the day we are payed to sell you phones.
