.::Droid X Lounge::.

there is never a bad time for a good grilled cheese sandwich! as long as its really good bread and atleast 3 kinds of cheeses.

indeed. well said. +1 for being as far OT as possible.. This is the lounge, you know. :) ;)

I will soon no longer be a member if the iCult.

A Droid X is on order with my name on it. Goodbye, crappy AT&T. Goodbye, iPhone.

AT&T: good riddance. You were never as bad to me as some of my friends, but I have nothing positive to say.

iPhone: you were good to me. I enjoyed you, for a time. When I bought you, you were, bar none, the best on the market. But there's a great big world of awesome smartphones out there now, and I'm no longer tolerating the walls of the garden - I wish to roam free.

Verizon: you welcomed me with open arms and many discounts/waived fees. Even though I am highly talented at talking my way into freebies or discounts, you made it easy with minimal schmoozing. Thanks. I look forward to joining your minions.

Sniff. I'd like to thank all the little people that made this moment possible.

Welcome! Sprint tried to lure me away by saving me money on my bill. What's the point, though, if I can't get data service while roaming on VZW towers, huh? ;)

I'm sure AT&T would have offered me something if I had called them and told them I wanted to switch. A guy I know got new-contract-pricing on an iPhone4 and an immediate reset on his upgrade status (i.e. he got a discounted phone and the option to immediately get another discounted phone should he choose), but the reality was, they didn't have any phones that I wanted, and didn't have service that I needed. So, as you say, what's the point?

I'm sure the iPhone 4 is very nice but I want Google Voice integration, a Gmail client and widgets... and I won't get any of those on the iPhone 4.

Interestingly, I found that, despite the enormous screen, the Droid X is actually only slightly less than half an inch taller than my iPhone 3GS, and it's thinner. I know you can tell that from the specs but it really sinks in when you have the phones next to each other.

Geez it's dead in here!

Yeah, I usually try to post in here at least once a day but I don't think I have today. I have been posting in some other topics today trying to figure out the last few things I need to do to my X to make it complete.

It would be a lot easier if I would ever get my invitation to app inventor. I filled out my request the day it was first posted on phandroid (about 10 minutes after it was posted) and still nothing yet. :(

getting my replacement X today hopefully. I haven't really been able to customize the initial X the way I want because it keeps rebooting. I hope to try out some customer docks and icons for launcher pro!

I really need to do that, I haven't been to the dentist in a while. I just hate the dentist.

Well, I've had so many issues over the course of time, that I've learned to floss daily and brush at least twice daily. Now? No problems.

I have just had really bad experiences is the past with military dentists. It makes me hesitant to go so I tend to make up excuses for other things I need to do instead of going to the dentist.

Ok so I figured I'd ask you guys rather then making a whole new thread about it... just looking for some opinions from people I regularly see on here (read as mr I have more then 6000 posts lol)
I'm thinking about rooting my x... and really, the only reason I want to is cause I want the black notification bar up top lol. I know, its really a simple reason, and i wouldnt mind having the teather either, but the real reason is the black notification bar. I love customizing the X and mess with it almost every day, but thats something I REALLY want.
what do you guys think? is it worth the risk? is rooting even all that risky? what happens when 2.2 is dropped?
Just lookin for others opinions. thanks

Got my DX this morning. So far, I love it. I'm a long time iPhone guy, and did enjoy them, but it was time for something different. And the volume rocker stopped working on my 3G, which was kind of a problem.

First observation: data on VZW sure seems faster than it is on AT&T. A lot faster.

I really can't wait for my X to come in the mail. We are going to get rid of our landline and just use our cell phones. Timewarner sucks!

So I have been reading everything on Phandroid today about the Droid 2 Launching Thursday. It is confirmed that it is launching with 2.2 and the benchmarks look impressive.

Since the internals are basically the same. The BLUR crap is basically the same. Why is MOTO and Verizon delaying the upgrade of our phones to 2.2? It is really upsetting. The sooner it gets released, the sooner it can be rooted, and the sooner I can upgrade.

BTW, does anyone know if the Droid 2 is released with 2.2 and rooted within say a week, will the same root method work on the X or will a new hole need to be found?

because sprint doesn't have coverage where I live.

Speaking of landlines. We got our DX phones on launch day and dropped our landline of 40 plus years on the 21st. Have GV number and our two cell phone numbers.

Who said, "You can't teach old dogs new tricks!" Bark bark.

;)

wow, now i really cant wait. im also looking at android clothing. some of it is pretty sweet. oh yeah, apple sucks.

Rooting's a snap. If I (idiot) can do it, anyone can. All you have to do is "click" and you're there. If you need any help, I'll be glad to nurse you through it.

like you said everything is pretty much the same so i don't think there will be much difference in Rooting but thats just my thinking on it
