Rooting's a snap. If I (idiot) can do it, anyone can. All you have to do is "click" and you're there. If you need any help, I'll be glad to nurse you through it.

Yeah I went ahead and did the easy root method. Now I've got myself a black notification bar and teather. I'm happy! I'm not going to delete any of the bloatware though just for risk of possibly having an issue when froyo comes. I figure when it comes I'll just click the unroot button then update and hope for the best. Hopefully it wont mess with anything like the notification bar changes I've made or anything like that.

what are the benefits of rooting?
What software gives you a blank notification bar? (not sure I want it, just curious) TIA.
That looks nice! Is the time and weather look part of the root?
Just wanted to pop in and say I just got my X. Freakin awesome! I also wanted to say that all the little gripes people complain about on the forums like lag they encounter with the unlock screen and in general, and such I have not experienced... I don't know if the people haven't learned how to optimize their phone to run properly or they are just trolling the forums, but I have no lag at all.. I was expecting it to wait a second or to before I did the slide to unlock thing for the screen to pop up reading all the complaints about that.
I guess it's a really good thing when the complaints about the phone are small like that. The speaker volume is indeed a little low, but it's not like it's killing me. Anyway, this forum is awesome and has been helping me a lot in my BB to Android transition!
not I
I know you're contemmplating the galaxy
Anyone DX owners contemplating switching to the D2? Just curious.....
Nah. I'm done. I'm so happy with my DX. I have it all decked out beyond belief.
I'm down with it for a year to 1.5 years or so.. Love it.
Absolutely not! Smaller screen and keyboard, both negatives.
Droid pro, maybe when it comes out depending on specs and if it is LTE I might contemplate that. Im good with my droid X for at least 6 months maybe a year (that is my normal life cycle for phones). I can't go back to a <4" screen though.
Good to hear Steven, I was worried about you for a while

I think I would have gone with a D2 if it had been out earlier. I thought I wanted the smaller size and keyboard. I wouldn't trade the X for it now...
(However, I really want to see the R2D2 version - geek overload)
Pics of the R2D2?
There is going to be a limited edition R2D2 hardware themed Droid 2 phone!
Hey, had my first, "What phone is THAT??" today at lunch. It was my waitress, she caught me looking up apps when she brought my salad. Seemed impressed, we talked keyboards mostly.
