Root Droid X sbf File Released....Now you can unbrick

I've got the SBF, but the instructions say:

1. Unzip the SBF and place VRZ_MB810_1.13.6.2_1FF_01.sbf and sbf_flash in the downloads folder

When I click the link to download sbf_flash I'm just directed to a webpage with a bunch of code, rather than being prompted to download a file. Is something wrong with the link or is it because I'm trying to access the file with Safari?

It almost sounds like your viewing the file instead of downloading it.
 
so this is kind of like a factory reset?, because i have rooted my droid x and can not seem to unroot it with the one click root/unroot app...can i just do this to unroot my phone? or is there another way to unroot it?

No it is not really like a factory reset but it will unroot it.

I ran this last night and it unrooted my phone, reinstalled some stock apps that I had deleted but it left all of the apps that I've downloaded and Everything looked like it did right before I ran it.

That's odd. I thought it put it back to exactly how it was when we bought it.

That is probably do to the dalvik-cache being preserved. When I did it I went ahead and loaded my phone into recovery mode and wiped the phone to factory and the dalvik-cache then I loaded the sbf file.

yeah thats what I thought too. And yeah when they referred to factory reset I looked at it, as most people do, as just clearing data and cache. But this should totally reflash everything as moto would do when then refurb a phone

Thanks for the info. I'm not a root user, but I try to keep up on it for when I do decide to root: would you be so kinda as to post this procedure? It seems like it would be something that's good to know how to do for a lot of people.
 
I added a bunch of links from the thread. If there is something else that needs to be added someone just pm me. Since I dont have a DX I dont visit this forum that often

I haven't tried it with my X yet, but I did use it for my droid and it worked. I am running win 7

I guess my question is what is this patch for or do?
If I have a 4.7 working on my PC is it needed?

I am not sure what the patch is. But when I open rsd lite 4.7 and I plug in my X it recognizes it. Like I said I haven't flased the sbf yet so I couldn't tell you if it works to that point
