I think a lot of people will be pleased with the updates, especially the faster syncing with Exchange as I've seen that as a real annoyance with some people.

Improvements:
+ Improved battery charging status indicator.
+ Smoother transition for camera and camcorder functions.
+ Redesign of weather widget icons.
+ Faster Exchange ActiveSync

There's some thing even a phone can't compensate for...

Bada Bing!!! :D

(Steven Glares at NKT)

;)

BTW, I think this thread is very important for all of us to see, so I'm sticking it for a day or two.

Thank you for your help!

Steven

The big thing they are missing is the picasa gallery syncing bug. Wish that would get fixed soon!

I don't like them adding the my Verizon app, I had it on my Droid and I just wish it was my choice. Kindle is already on my X, so that I don't care about. I just wish manufacturers and networks could leave all apps up to the users!

While I understand your point of view you have to understand that they get $$$ from the people who created these apps to put them on your phone. they them use this $$$ to subsidize the cot of the phones we buy. That said I do believe we should be able to remove them whenever we want to without having to root the phone. I'm OK with them being on there I just wish we could take them off without an act of God...

Hate to break this to you but you paid full price. You are just making payments on the balance as it is built into the contract. If you are in a Sales Tax state you can see this effect because you paid tax on the retail price. What really sucks is that the people who pay everything up front still don't get a discount on service.

Agreed. I don't like having the Blockbuster app on there by default. I'm a Netflix kinda guy

A Thought...
wouldn't be great if you could pay a fee (small) to be able to eliminate them.
Blockbuter IMHO is a joke Their one video away from closing their doors.

end of rant.
:cool::cool:

It's too bad phone manufacturers obviously don't pay much attention to these forums because paying a fee to remove crap apps would be great.

Like I said I don't have a problem with them being there but I do have a problem with the fact that you can't remove them unless you get root access.

What I want to know is the stuff that is included in the update that is not in the change log. There is always more, when people find out they should post it in this thread.

When entering text into a forum entry box - like this one for instance - if you screw up it's damn near impossible to put the cursor where you want it to edit the text.

Complete pain in the @ss.

At least, I think that's what it might be.

If you tap and then put your finger back on the screen and hold you will get a zoomed in window of where the cursor is and you can move it by sliding your finger without lifting up

i personally wont update for 2 weeks. I want to see what the devs can find that has changed in the new rom. Perhaps, they can exploit something. this would be a major breakthrough and a opportunity i wont update myself out of. I am looking forward to reading your experiences post-update.

Obligatory post. It's now 7/19. Has anyone received notice of the OTA update yet and, more importantly, updated. MOST importantly.....effects of it?

Thanks

Not yet, but I turned off the wifi since I am not sure how the update is triggered. I figured it can't hurt to keep it on the 3G connection for data assuming that is how the update will get pushed down.

I'm wondering if anyone has updated their phones with the OTA update that's supposed to be coming out today (7/19). I get my phone today and am interested to see if this has fixed people's battery issues.

It's going to be rolled randomly to only a certain number of people...usually a few thousand at first.

Nothing here either. Michigan too but vacationing in florida.

Is there anyway to manually start the update?
