I stopped by Verizon today to check out the X and I agree with the OP. I will def hang on to my dinc. For one the screen was just too big for me. I like to do a lot with one hand on my phone and the X is just to big for that. Also the sense UI is much better. Screen transitions on the X seemed sluggish. I was just dissapointed. Glad I didn't wait for the X. The Incredible is just that, incredible.

I played with the X yesterday also and found the phone to be nowhere near as cool as the DInc. The display was not as crisp nor was the interface as snappy as the DInc. Holding them side-by-side I felt that the X was a little TOO big for my liking. I like the size of the DInc. The sound was not as clear on the X nor was the UI anywhere NEAR as good as SenseUI. I've had Motorola phones in the past and they ALL were buggy (in my experience) and put out much higher SAR than HTC's do.

I did like the contour shape of the back of the X better than on the DInc though. Didn't care for the buttons at the bottom and the picture quality lacked a little also.

Call quality wasn't as good as the DInc, although the signal strength was identical (go figure since they were side-by-side on Verizon's network IN their store)

It's funny that you can buy an X right in the store because they have many, but on the day the DInc came out, it was standing room only to get one and they didnt' have anymore left after the first day in my town (where there are 7 VZW stores), and then you had to wait for over a month to get your hands on one IF you ordered quick enough! I was lucky enough to get one on roll-out day.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Opinions vary of course, but I love the DInc. Looking forward to the Froyo roll-out now...

Sounds like you just went with whatever you could get first.

There is a reason you were able to get your DroidX so easily after launch...Most are still waiting on the Inc.

Look I can do it to! BTW Goodluck rooting!

have fun with your with your mini tablet or droidlet its way to big for my small man hands i dont have bear paws like some

OK

the Dinc feels like a plastic chew toy that is not even worthy of my dogs slobber ...the screen is super crispy, true enough, under its tender digitizer. I however, wouldnt want to risk dropping the dinc from my big toe and having that glass shatter into crispy pieces. So I cancel my order in hopes that one of you Dinc'ers can get it sooner and I bid you all fair well

:D better :D

yall enjoy your devices

Much better, I commend you.

So you're the guy standing in front of the only X in the store messing with the phone in your pocket while everyone else circles you like vultures...

OH no not at all

I ordered the dinc for its lack of physical keyboard only. I don't care about home screen sense or blur or whatever any of them has, as long as it can work ,,.

on june 2nd was my first order. It got back ordered due to samsung or vzw as HTC explained to me in a email not being prepared yadayada(which I somewhat agree)

HTC just isn't a company I can support, hence the change to the X. I didnt find out about the x until well after my dinc order. Had I known I would have just waited it out anyhow...I like MOTO as a company. They have had hiccups but who hasn't...

size, ha I say, its not but a inch bigger then the ARIA I use for work(damn company forces at&t on us). only 3/8 inch wider and 1 inch taller...so 3/8 wider then the dinc..and 1/2 taller...no thicker. So I will take the bigger screen, on a phone thats not much bigger, that I could get on launch day, that knows what screen will be in it first to last run production.

and I can do it back at cha...while your waiting on your dinc to come in go ahead and order a longer charging cord. I hear they are always plugged in.

LOL never cared about rooting...HTC will stop it next but someone will always work around anything..I just want a device that works with great company, and the X fit that bill for me... maybe cause I had the D1 since it first came out and I am just use to the moto features...but the dinc does feel cheap... sorry

LOL I guess I really am trolling now

sorry yall have fun that wasn't my intentions. even though I named the post as such... but en

I saw the Droid X at a concert last night at a Verizon booth they had set up.... the guy there immediately started touting the X.

I pulled out my Incredible and he looks at me and says "You already have the best phone we carry... why would you want this one".

I laughed and asked him why not more accessories for the Incredible... he had no answer.

I sent the DINC packing. The battery life was just to pitiful for me to deal with. I had the extended battery and I could barely get 7 hours out of it with moderate usage. I got the X last night and today was the first full day with it and after 7 hours with the setup EXACTLY the same as on my DINC I had 60% battery life left (about the same usage except I played the NFS demo for about 20 minutes this morning as well). I use Launcher Pro so the stock UI is a non-issue for me. Launcher Pro is just as snappy as on my DINC and doesn't have the force closes I had on the DINC. I do notice a significant difference in call quality with the X even though the signal DB's are almost exactly the same. The screen is not a vibrant as the DINC but it's not horrible by any stretch of the imagination. I do like the bigger screen (especially when I'm typing in portrait mode). The hump is not nearly as bad as it looks in the picture and I actually like the way it feels when you're on the phone. Overall it's a much better phone FOR ME. I realize that everyone has different tastes and that's why there are different choices but this was just my overall opinion of why the X is a better phone for me.

I had the same problem with the stock battery, but the 1750 Seidio gives me about 40% better battery. Not sure if it is due to the Seidio being great as much as it is the stock battery being poor quality....

I had the 2150 HTC extended battery and could barely get 7 hours. I got about 4 hours with the stock battery.

They tried 2 different phones and 4 different batteries...

If you only got 7 Hrs out of a 2150 HTC extended battery you are doing something wrong. i now get about 15 Hrs easy from the HTC 1500 battery and close to that with the stock battery. i know longer worry about batteries.

musta been the phone because the DROID X with the exact same setup and screens and apps downloaded was only down to about 60% after 7 hours today...

Well I kinda fell into a droid X lastnight
I like the bigger screen and the HDMI witch BTW you cannot watch youtube or Tv.com on your tv VIA the phone BIG bummer for me.
I can say the incredible is much faster on the handset wise,
but oddly enough the X is much faster on PDA net tethering.
The driod X when you kill the apps with app killer the phone locks up for about 5 sec.
I miss the heck out of the HTC clock and weather thou.
But not too sad a day the inc is still in my house so I can switch back at any time.

I was really surprised how laggy the screen transitions were at the veriz store yesterday morning. The manager let me play with his phone. I don't know it was a very disappointing experience on a brand new phone he had no apps and minimal widgets. It's a beautiful device imo, but dang did moto mess up on initial impressions for me!
I went from the dinc to the X and I got the same first impression like you did but after a day of playing with the X for me it is a much nicer device than the dinc IMO. But of course there will be a better device coming out next week LOL.

I don't spend my days running benchmark apps. I spend my days using the various apps on the phone, and every time I use the phone, I interact with Sense UI.

If I had to choose between awesome benchmarks with laggy UI and just good benchmarks with a smooth UI and app loading, I'll go with the lesser benchmarks and better UI experience. What the numbers tell me means crap if I don't feel it when I use the phone on a day-to-day basis.
This guy....

Go to the market and download Beautiful Widgets. You won't be missing the HTC clock and weather for long...
