Root dta2sd kinda working

For Future Reference Something to keep in mind.

When you download an app and it installs It installs in INTERNAL MEMORY. Android does this.
When you reboot DTa2sd will move the app to EXTERNAL MEMORY the issue is that at times during the reboot process the dalvic cache is loaded an it tells the system the Memory and what is left in memory so usually a reboot and a wipe of dalvic and cache will get everything back as it should be.
So even though DT leaves only a symbolic link the Dalvic Cache, the cache loads its data into Live memory as the Android System does not expect anything to change with these from a simple reboot. This is why dalvic cache is not normally erased in a stock setting. It saves times on the routines that it takes to load all of the information into live memory so if it has a data base with all that info in already and nothing should have changes because of a reboot then the system can report accurately the Memory Usage. a2sd is not an expected program and its routines are not know to the ROM. The ROM see's the Symbolic link as the actual program and does not realize that it is not stored in INTERNAL memory. This is the concept of a2sd.

Very nice, very nice...I'm gonna bookmark this page to refer to this post.
Thanks argedion:D

Well, I pulled the battery and that did it! When it booted up it had that little android dude that you touch with your finger, then it has you sign in to google and so on..

So I'm good now! No more messing with it for a while!

Thanks :D:smokingsomb::D

PS: Happy fathers day (if appropriate, of course!)

Alright. Glad its fixed and thankyou, yes, I am father of 2.
Happy Fathers day, if it applies, to you also.:)

Gotcha. On phone now with tapatalk but no "like" button. I'll like it later:D

running your data from the sdcard is a bad idea.

ropodope

along with this running dalvic cache from sdcard can also cause issues. It has not for me yet but that doesn't mean it wont. As Great developers like Ropodope , Diablo, and others are increasing there knowledge of these systems and how they work we will get better choices in the future. Just make sure you do a NANDROID before attempting anything like these as they can cause major issues. Learning is a wonderful thing just don't let it cost you more than it is worth.

Funny that this thread comes up now... Yesterday my phone started giving me the warnings about storage is full, low on memory, etc. And internal memory showed as basically full. I'm on MikG3.11 and I thought a2sd was working, however I never downloaded the script itself (just expected that MikG had it...). So I haven't really done much yet. Tried doing a fix uid mismatch, clear cache, dalvik, etc. Force closes all over the place- and scary sounding fc's at that- android.process.acore, superuser, google.services or something... I did an a2sd check and it didn't look good- denied permissions and what-not. Now TE won't even let me type anything because the android.process.acore keeps force closing over and over and over... Any help before I just have to restore a nandroid and get back to this same place?

Go into recovery and fix permissions first and tell us what happens when you reboot

The same thing. Reboots fine, gives me the warnings, then everything starts force closing left and right- to the point where the phone is so laggy you can't do much of anything. I try to move the cache to sd in terminal, but I can't get the keyboard to appear, superuser force closes, etc. I end up having to pull the battery again when it gets to the point of going back to the home screen and nothing is loading, etc.

Maybe time to just start fresh. You could do a band-restore

is your card partitioned?

and i agree with argedion to just wipe everything and re-flash the rom.

Yes, the card is partitioned and had seemed to be working fine for a while. I just can't seem to find one stable solution for my phone- I'm not the type to want to keep switching and resetting everything all the time. I tried restoring a nandroid, but had no lock screen and couldn't get anything to work. Going to re-do it all and hope this time it's good!
