Root DX Gingerbread 2.3.3 Update.zip released! TBH

Yeah, I had Liberty set up the way I wanted it. I just ran a nandroid before I updated, figure Liberty is only a SBF + clockwork restore away.

Yeah I guess your right... Gonna take GB for a test drive right now. Won't be getting much done at work today... Hope they understand, lol....

BTW, if anyone is wondering, the "vibrate" icon in the notification bar is now three wavy lines next to each other. I find that extremely non-intuitive, but if anyone - like me - starts wondering WTF that icon is, it's that your phone is set to vibrate.

ahhhhhh, the beginning of the discoveries of Moto's idiocies..

When there is word on root I'm sure there will be a bevy of posts on it.

I love some of my root apps but I could not pass up a GB release. It is smooth and very fast.

That being said, root is likely to be achieved faster now that a public released was forced due to people releasing the link earlier than TBH wanted to.

I agree. I just flashed and I like this a ton better than I thought I would... Love the color scheme as well. Wasn't a fan of all the green in the themed GB builds....

Feel a little naked right now without root but I think I can adjust for the time being...

so, i'm taking from this that all apps will be compatible aside from root apps (until root is achieved)?

oh yeah, I did a full restore from the market over wifi and everything is cooking along swimmingly. Some people have said they see a few apps missing from the market but for me that wasn't the case.

Do you have the 'texts from last night widget' in the market? Trivial, I know. But I like to see what how shameful other people's lives are lol

I am still working on restoring all my apps and I have found a couple that I can find in the online app store, but when I go to install it says my phone is not compatible with that app. I know one file I was having an issue with the same thing when I went on the 2.4.2 leak that was out, this was the ESPN Bracket Bound app, which it does not matter now since all my teams are out. The other ones I have seen are MP3 Ringtone Maker and Within Route.

Some of you with market issues may want to try this...
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (Filter by all) Market > Clear Cache (NOT DATA!)
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Google Services Framework > Clear Data > Force Close
Reboot

Worked for me.

it got pulled for some reason. I nabbed a copy of the .apk from my old backup just so I can have it with me. I can email it, if you would like.

Just checked and it's there for me. Didn't know what it was, but looks pretty funny. Don't know if it's worth paying for though.

It's in the Amazon App store and you must not be the only one who enjoys laughing at people's sorrows since it is one of the top apps. ;)

quick and painless install, like everyone said running seamless......also i havent had any issues to report all of my apps came....loving the midnight blue....

i do have to say that is one icon that took me quite some time to figure out what it was as well!!

i've got to be honest...at one point i literally stared at for a good 2 minutes going through my head as to what it might be lol...

didn't figure it out till i was "testing" lock screen lag by flicking the "sound tab" and noticed the icon changing at the top lol

Noob question. I'm rooted, used bootstrap to make backups before etc. But I've never flashed anything to my phone. I want to try this out but am concerned about losing text message history, photos etc. I have titanium backup but I know that will be inaccessible for now since there is no root. Any one have a good suggestion on the best way to back up everything/restore it assuming I have to do the factory restore during the process? It's just not worth it to me to do this if I'm gonna lose everything. Thanks!

I just reverted because I can't bring over all of my backed up settings. May play with it again tonight - I tried to SBF to stock, restore my TiBu settings, then install the Gingerbread over the top of it in hopes I wouldn't have to factory reset, but it just bootlooped :(

Same results when I tried to install over the top of Liberty without a factory reset. Can't get my settings/apps.

Ok...you have a few things here...

1. Pictures: They will not be touched. They will remain safely on your sdcard for when the process is over...

2. SMS: I use a program called "SMS Backup and Restore" from the market. It allows you to back up your messages, as well as few them (complete with conversations)...

it will also allow you to restore them once you are done...HOWEVER there is a small hiccup caused by the stock Moto texting app...

- by default the Moto app is set to have 200 messages per conversation, so when you go to restore your texts, if you have conversations that are longer than that, it will cause the program to hang when trying to open a conversation...

- The way around this is to set the conversation limit to 1000 (the highest the moto app will allow) and hope you don't have conversations larger than that...if you DO have conversations larger, it may cause some issues...

BUT because SMS Backup and Restore allows you to read the conversations contained in your backups through the app, you will never actually lose the texts, they just won't be contained in your normal texting app...

personally as i text A LOT, and i've done this backup and restore thing a few times...i generally just start over with my texts now, and leave the backups on the SD card...if i need to look back at a conversation i use SMS Backup and Restore to look at the conversations...i have like 6 backups on my SD card
