Help Email shows "Loading messages..." when I try to reply to an email

The very same situation began on my Galaxy S5 5 days ago. Verizon could not help. My University IT techs could not help and Samsung took remote control of my phone..reset it. updated and could not resolve the problem. I an now trying to ask Microsoft...but its hard to get a real person there.
It is an Microsoft Exchange Outlook account. HELP

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....[/QUOTE]

OK, in the Android Email app, not gmail, but the actual Email app, I can receive messages. I can send a new message. But any time I try to reply to a message, as soon as I click reply, the compose window opens and then there is a box that says "Loading messages..."

This is on a Samsung Note 3 phone. My email comes in just fine on my Samsung Tab E tablet. The server settings and credentials are all set correctly. Just start happening today. Have gone into the application manager to email, and cleared the cache for the email app.

So how can this be fixed. Verizon wants me to get a new phone!

How do I do that. Will I have to reinstall my Outlook account

Go to settings>apps and tap on the menu icon (three dots) in the upper right. Select "show system apps". Then in your app list find WebView (it may be listed alphabetically as "Android System WebView"). Tap on it and select the "uninstall updates option. Then restart your phone. Your issue should be gone after that as long as WebView doesn't update again. You might want to turn off automatic updates in the play store app just to be safe.

Will I lose any data doing that. I'm not very smart about these things?

The data for the app only. I would guess that you don't have any. WebView is a "helper app" that allows other apps to display interactive web pages within the app itself rather than taking you to a browser to view it. If it interferes with an other app by having it disabled, then simply re-enable it and you'll be fine. Just don't update it.

Before I continue the prompt now says If you disable a built in app this may cause problems with other apps. Your data will also be deleted

So sho;uld I do this?
WOW...seems to have worked! As I said earlier Verizon, my IT techs ansd Samsung could not resolve this. Thanks to this Forum for the help!

Most Verizon and Samsung tech's aren't allowed to deviate from the stock script for troubleshooting, so even if they did know about this issue they probably couldn't tell you without risking their jobs. At least not until corporate approves the method. As for your IT dept. you should probably tell them so if anyone else has the problem they can actually help them. :D

Thanks for the help and the tip. I will let the IT guys know this.

Thank you. These steps cleared up my issue.

I'm new here but everyone helped!

It was webview for me
Updated it yesterday and then got stuck with updating messages bs

Disable it and factory version works

Disable auto updates and don't update this one
Maybe they will fix it

Just did what Jamie told me, though I used "Uninstall Updates" button...and just managed to send an email via Reply to an earlier one I got today in my Inbox...it should meant it works (for the time being). I am now very much intrigued what will happen when I Update this Android System Web View App back to the latest version again....... Anyway, a big thanks to you Jamie!
Yes, big thanks to you Jamie, removing this App Android System Web app solved the issue, I now can send email again though native email app.

I am also new here, but this is great help, thank you everyone for their comments. It is indeed webview, which is the culprit.

Good day, i have the same problem on my Note 4. i have cleared the cache and checked the app permission and set the app permission to accept all and looks like it is working for now.

May have just come up with at least a temp fix by searching similar issues. Went to settings- apps- app manager- android system webviewer. Hit disable which rolls it back to an earlier version. Seems to be forwarding or replying now on over ten tests

Thanks, Jamie, your suggestion will have to do for me right now, and if you hear of a permanent fix, please let us know.

I have an S5 and it started the send issue when replying to emails a couple of days ago. I also noticed it wouldn't load a picture in an email. I followed the djback post "into SETTINGS and APPLICATION MANAGER and disabling ANDROID SYSTEM WEBVIEW". When I clicked uninstall, it rolled back to factory version. My emails seem to work again without any issues, and so far no other problems.

This has worked for me. Thank you so much, and to everyone who has posted under this thread.
