Help Epic Bug List

i read this thread, and maybe i missed it but...
sometimes (when i have no apps open) the phone will seize up and become literally unresponsive to any touch, anywhere on the screen. the only functioning button is the power button
another problem is the lag...
ive installed close to 100 apps but they are all credible apps
4-5 stars, 250,000 installs.. but the phone is crazy slow...
i only have 100 MB of ram available most of the time...
how is this possible.. i understand the phone requires some to operate itself, but that should be no more than 100 MB
the rest is ridiculous, and i dont want to root my device
download = ridiculous like stated
GPS = same stupid problem even tho samsung like and said there wasnt one
such an amazing phone, this sucks
 
Twice, now, I've hit an issue where the entire phone will lock up. All the capacitive buttons will light, but no button -- including power -- is responsive. I've had to pull out the battery, and reinsert. :(

Didn't have this issue for the first week of ownership. I have 390MB free on internal storage....

I have found if I use the pad of my thumb as opposed to the tip of my thumb and push hard it works with in one or two pushes. The other three buttons work just fine, with only the slightest touch making them work.

I have been getting better at pushing that darn back button. You have to hit it just right with just the right amount of pressure.

I bought my phone through Let's Talk, do you think I can take my phone to sprint and exchange for a new one? Or will I have to deal with Let's Talk? I've heard of some ppl exchanging their phone and getting one without this problem.

Of course I could run into a whole new mess of problems. So far the back button seems to be the only problem.

Maybe I should wait for an update to hopefully correct this problem? What do ya'll think?
 
I just did an exchange on Sat. and the buttons work great. The whole phone does so far. Just put the phone on the charger after 13 hours of pretty heavy use...lots of GPS checking. GPS worked great all day.

Thought I'd start a thread to list bugs that I've found on my Epic. This is NOT a rant thread. I LOVE my epic, despite the bugs. So far, the bugs that I've found have all been minor, and I don't really mind them. 1. When a bluetooth headset is active and you try to use the "Speech-to-text" microphone while typing a message, it does not recognize your voice. If you turn the bluetooth off, it works fine. I suspect that with the bluetooth on, it is looking for sound coming from the bluetooth headset, but with no way to active the headset unless you are in PHONE mode, this isn't workable.

2. Cannot add a Facebook ACCOUNT under "Accounts & Sync" despite the fact that the option exists on the menu. If this feature simply isn't supported, perhaps the option should be removed. Or fixed (even better). I have even tried updating to the latest Facebook app. I have also done a software reset on my phone, and it still does not work.
I finally got my Facebook app to work. I'm not 100% certain all the steps that I took to fix it, but this is what I seem to recall:
A) Downloaded the FaceBook update from the Market
B) UNINSTALLed the Facebook update
C) Went back to my Accounts screen and added a new account. Now I don't remember what this screen looked like before, but now I had TWO options for adding Facebook. One was in the top section called "Integrated contact accounts" and the other was in "More accounts". I used the top one, and it worked beautifully. Now all of my Facebook contacts are in my list, and they auto-linked to my Exchange contacts so I get pictures now.
D) I reinstalled the Facebook update and it still works fine.

3. My phone rebooted itself while I was in the middle of a phone call and a new call was coming through (call-waiting). This has only happened one time, and I have tested it several times since.
I have NOT had this problem again, and I use my phone a LOT.

4. The battery icon on the top bar is not very accurate. It will look like it has 75% remaining when it really has somewhere around 40%. A simple handling is a free app download to display the battery percentage in the bar instead of the icon, but this should work better with the stock app.
Per the description posted below, this is not a bug but rather just the way the battery icon displays in the taskbar. I thought it was supposed to be a realtime gague, ticking off tiny increments every percent or two. But it updates in stages instead, which I don't like. But I'm happy to know it's not really a bug.

5. When using the AccuWeather Clock widget, the TIME on the analog clock is an hour off. I am in the Eastern Time Zone, for testing purposes. When you go into the app, it shows the correct time in digital format. But no matter what I've tried, the analog clock is an hour off.
This is NOT a bug. Found the setting for DST as described below, and it works great.

My epic has been freezing a little, especially with the phone menu it takes me back to the homepage without me hitting anything even during dialing or adding a contact
 
I think the task manager is quite active and things jump around based on usage. So if you go to close something and usage changes, things get reordered and you click on something else. It's all in the timing.

You do know it's a double button. Light press for focus and hard press to take the pic. So maybe you're not pressing hard enough. Or just try to fully press and hold for a second. If I press it fully quickly it doesn't register. But if I press and hold it for a second it switches no problem. I don't think that's a bug or problem. It's to help against accidental presses taking you to the camera all the time. A deliberate press and brief hold should take you there every time.

Anyone get force closes when trying to see pics in emails? I get daily emails from buy.com, ecost and others that when I click to see pics it force closes.

The same signature across accounts is still bugging me.

And now my 4g won't connect. It just says unknown all the time after trying to connect.

And I have 313mb free on the phone and can't load NFS which was a 100mb. I rarely buy games, but after playing the Asphalt demo, I want something better.
 
Trust me, I mash the hell out of it. lol I even feel the little "bump" vibrate. Sometimes it opens on the first time, and sometimes it takes a few times. I've used the camera a lot, so I've become acquainted with the way the button feels.

It's really frustrating when my puppy is doing something cute, and I'm trying like mad to open the camera to get a pic, and by the time it finally opens, it's too late.
 
show them that in the store then. should do the trick to get a replacement. As a temporary solution you could always put a shortcut on the home screen. Not ideal, but for now...

Nothing gets reordered. I'll keep my finger on the end button and can literally watch it jump back and fourth to the same app that it wants to close.
 
ok, I read through the forum and didn't see anyone having the same issue as me... So excuse me if I missed it somewhere along the lines. But my epic randomly "resets" it's self and dumps all the apps, other than the stock widgets, from all home screens. I'm not rooted and running the same apps that I had on my Moment. The only thing i could think of is I just transfered the backed up apps I had done with astro. Though I'm not sure how this could be a problem. All of the apps run with no problem. It just gets old having to put them back on the home screens.

I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem. I would be very concerned about that, and would call CS, or take it in to a Sprint store to have it looked at.

I'm going to give it a couple more days and see if it does it again. Hopefully it's nothing serious. I guess we'll see...
 
BB goes through its own servers so you get push mail vis BIS. No such thing with Android unless you have gmail. So you either deal with polling at specified intervals or enjoy your Curve.

Well, you can check out K9 email in the market. It might be under K-9. It does push as well as a few other things the stock email app can't. Some swear by it.
 
There's a thread on the Sprint forums about a cap on upload speeds while on 3G (150Kbs). I can upgrade next month and this is an issue for me, can anyone confirm this here?

Yes it is confirmed
There are seven confirmed issues/bugs with Sprints Device team and the 150k 3g upload speed is one of them. There is an audio sync issue with video playback on their list (I haven't even read anyone complain about that on the major forums), GPS cache bug, and others
