Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

This worked PERFECTLY! I now can sync all my contacts with facebook.

One last issue with 2.1! I cannot edit my contact card!!!! It honestly wouldn't even be that big a deal, but I'm a big txter and until I can at least upload a photo into my contact card I have to look at that damned silhouette far too often!

Has anybody else had this issue or know of a fix?!

Mie synced with facebook and has my facebook pic there. As for editing the contact card, I go to my contact card, open it, then hit menu and in the lower left it says edit. That works just fine for me! Clicking on the photo in that gives me an option to put a photo in.:)

Annoying. When you sync contacts with Facebook, it downloads the contact info on their page and sets those as the primary, when I want the stuff I entered to be the primary.

#8899 solved the network issue. Text and calls working again. Today will be first full day of testing, but looking good so far. Only the login issue so far.

Yea, but that's just the thing. When I click to open my contact card it just says "loading" forever and nothing happens! So I can't see any information, including an option to edit the info there...

Has anyone else had a similar issue!?

Something else I noticed - the back function works differently now. For example, in the 1.5 ROM, if I was in Peep or Facebook, clicked a link, then clicked back, it would take me back to the calling application. Now, it just navigates to the last webpage loaded, like a browser back button. Not sure if you can control this, but it did not do this in 1.5

Not sure if anyone has asked this already, but is anyone having issues with the app "BUMP"? Keeps saying I'm the only one "Bumping" when bumping with my co-worker.

Just noticed this...maybe it's just me, but if you turned off haptic feedback, when pressing home, menu, back and search it doesn't vibrate anymore...it used to vibrate those even with haptic feedback, and just turn it off when typing.

I don't like that.

Anyone notice after a reboot your ringtone goes back to default

I posted a reply to this that my custom ringtone is working fine in 2.1. BUT, custom ringtones assigned to different contacts is not working. The ringtone I've chosen as my default is what rings for everyone, whether I've picked a new one or not.

BTW--still no answer on whether apps loaded from SD backup are recognized by Market for updates. It's prob. best to re-download all your apps from the Market after upgrade and keep the backups for just that--backup.

No other major bugs right now--really liking 2.1. For those complaining about lag, turn off all Animation in setting under Sound and Displays and see if that picks things up for you.

I'm not fan of the haptic feedback on those buttons either. Glad they gave the option to turn it off. Someone else posted that they thought the vibration seemed different in 2.1. Now that's splitting hairs!

Edit update: After re-reading your post, I wasn't sure whether you liked or disliked the haptic feedback on the main buttons.

Turn the haptic feedback back on. Then go into settings > language & keyboard > touch input > text input and turn off 'vibrate when typing'. I expect that will give you the results you were trying for.

Edit: either Boulder or I misread what you wrote. If you like the way the phone feels now, don't do what I said. :)

Also, I rebooted recently and didn't need to re-enter Google PW. That makes it about 3 reboots in a row where it wasn't needed. It seems random. I also have GV.

quick question about the actual leaked file

after i downloaded it when I try and open the zip on my computer it says it is corrupted and i've tried downloading from multiple sources....however is that only cuz im tryin to open it on my computer and it can only be run through the phone? or should i be able to open the PB00IMG.zip on my computer and see the contents inside?

You'll want to follow the step by step instructions posted in various places in the 'when' thread, and I believe in this one also. None of the steps includes unzipping the file. :)
I believe once you've tried to unzip it you've actually 'broken' the file, you'll need to download it again at this point.

Yeah I noticed that too... it feels.. softer? I dunno, I think I liked the way it felt before... it was seemed more responsive.

lol i see, so its not ment to be tested via the computer becuz it gives that corrupted error msg, which in turn actually ends up corrupting it lol, yea i didnt notice anything about unzipping it in the directions, but i also didnt notice it saying that if you tried it would actually end up corrupting the file by trying to open it on a computer

Guys, really bad bugs. No internet via WiFi or 3G and I fail to program *228 every time I call even with *22899!

Just repeating what I've read elsewhere here (making sure those rumors keep going). Since I didn't try to unzip the file I have no firsthand knowledge. That's why I said "I believe", it leaves wiggle room. :)

Did you try to unzip it before using the file to upgrade?

Go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery Use
That should tell you what's using your battery, if you phone is NOT charging. If it's charging, it won't show anything, and if you recently unplugged it from the charger it won't show much. Perhaps checking the battery use will help you figure out the culprit. :)

Heyy thanks for your reply :-) Very much appreciated... Thats actually exactly where I had initially found all the info... I had restarted my phone earlier today just for the hell of it lol, and now the awake time seems to make a little more sense... It now says Up Time 6 hours and Awake Time 2.5 hours. Under Battery Use it says Cell Standby 34% which is way less than what it said before... So maybe a soft reset did the job. I'll have to wait and see.

But when you try and open the zip on a computer it SHOULD say corrupted right? Cuz i get an error that says "THE COMPRESSED (zipped) FOLDER IS INVALID OR CORRUPTED"....is this suppose to happen when trying to open on a computer, but it will work on the phone?

Random question... I've been following this thread through all the bajillion emails I'm getting every time someone posts, but I might have missed a reply lol..

So my phone seems to be working okay after installing 2.1... My issues with the HTC People Widget has resolved itself after restarting the phone a few times... The sign-in issue with Google/Gmail seems to only happen every once in a while after restarting phone...
But has anyone else had the issue with the phone not sleeping?? Mine said Up Time 14 hours, and Awake time 14 hours.. And then under battery use, it said Cell Standby at 70%.. I hadn't been using the phone (I was sleeping for about 7 out of those 14 hours lol). I'm not sure how to check which app might be causing my phone not to sleep... But I'm using the SAME apps I used to be using on 1.5 and my phone was always at like 10% awake time. Only different app is Chomp SMS instead of Handcent.

It must be an app. I too am using chomp instead of handcent. If you want to send me a list of apps we can compare because mine does not have the awake time problem. You can use the app Listables (its free and pretty useful) and it can directly email me the list of apps. My email is my username @gmail.com.

I gotta say, Chomp is a lot better than handcent. And this is from someone who had been using the stock app since November after trying the aforementioned for a bit and not liking them. They updates since then have really improved Chomp.
