Eris discontinued?

I just got the eris and I find it doubtful it will be discontinued considering its a very affordable smartphone, plus majority do not need the extra cpu power.

Well then, we need to call them right away and tell them to back off from their nefarious scheme.
 
This is another reason why there will be NO 2.1. No to mention the Eris is a weak platform and they are moving away from it.

Why do insist on saying this over and over when you don't have any evidence of it? Just let it go. There is a reasonable amount of evidence that points to the Eris receiving it. If it gets released, it gets released, if it doesn't, it doesn't. I for one think that it is coming but I am not gonna lose much sleep over it either way.

agreed. im on the leak right now so it doesnt matter a whole lot either way to me. only reason im hoping to get it is because im hoping with the ACTUAL 2.1 they will be able to root it. custom ROMS ftw!

i think if its coming though then its coming soon. DROID just got the update recently right? my thinking is that after they all get pushed out then we are next. just speculation.

either way there is really no reason to have a three or four page thread about it. truth is....nobody knows whats going to happen
 
I just need astrid to sync again! although custom roms are fun. I deleted a few apps that just waste space. like twitter etc...
 
Seriously I just read that post about the eris not getting 2.1. Logic proves u wrong.

The htc hero will be getting the update next week and htc has made it there goal to get all there smartphones out with 2.1 or update to 2.1.

Also as someone else has mentioned theres evidence which really points that htc has worked on 2.1. They are probably just working out the kinks or something of that sort. Worse case scenario is we all use the leaked 2.1. Considering there is a leaked 2.1 leads to the fact that they are legitimately working on it. Also verizon would be stupid to drop this phone of their line up considering its a well equipped phone with wifi, bluetooth, gps, and the android platform.

I rest my case
 
The Eris is getting 2.1. Don't let some schmuck in a tinfoil hat tell you otherwise.

People keep mentioning the Droid and comparing the Eris to that for a release date. I'm assuming you want the crippling of your graphics processing as well, right? Like the Droid?
 
I have a Droid that is currently my active phone, playing with the Eris as we speak though, and let me tell you, I cannot use any emulators at all without lag now that I have 2.1. It is really frustrating that the lag overall has increased as well. Let the bugs be worked out and then bring on the update!

P.S. - Starting to really like the Eris by the way.
 
Sure wish the Eris wasn't getting discontinued...perfect size, features, no scratches..buuut I do have a "dead spot", on my screen...bottom right corner my the home button...aka play button, m button, . button.. I now have to replace it...sure am going to miss it...bye Eris :(

Its been discontinued for like 6 months now though. This is a pretty old thread. They only have refurbs now.
