Eris to v2.x, when?

I hope you're joking.

Just in case you're not, don't put the file in any folder. Just dropping in into the SD card on the top most level (this is called the root level). Again, I assume you're joking.
 
So, do all of your apps reload? Read a few pages back that there may be an issue with some apps not being "registered".

I've got a few paid apps that I need so I may just wait for the OTA ... but that dangling carrot is looking better and better.
 
Has anyone confirmed that a hard reset can take you BACK to 1.5?

When the real 2.1 w/SenseUI update comes out OTA or however, I'm curious if it will be SLIGHTLY different than this leaked one, with some bug fixes and updates.

I'd like to know that I can go BACK if I go to 2.1.

I had the same issue when I updated last night. I was never able to figure out how to get my contact caller IDs to sync with their facebook pictures so I got fed up and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, everything was synced perfectly. My guess is that the phone just needs some time to update/sync everything.

FWIW, my two paid apps (ATM and BetterCut) were both available as soon as I finished updating to this version, they showed in the market as "purchased," and I was able to download them without a problem.

I haven't checked ALL of the free apps I installed, I assume they won't all be there, based on what I've heard from other people.

I would still like to know for sure that we'll be able to upgrade to the final version, or revert to 1.5, and upgrade to the final OTA... but hey, too late now I suppose :)
 
So far, I must say that I am extremely pleased with the move to 2.1.

Everything is much quicker, nicer looking, with many additional features that I am discovering the more I use it.

One thing that I noticed that I have a question about deals with my Exchange Activesync account.
It now tells me that I am required to have/enter a password to get back in once the screen locks (due to company policy, I assume).
This wasn't the case with 1.5.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this?
It's pretty annoying having to enter even a 4-digit password every time.

This is the reason I am waiting for the OTA ... 2.1 would be nice but it isnt needed right now IMO. If April comes and still no OTA, that I will consider it. I downloaded the update and will probably be tempted more than once.

Yes, I was fed up also.. AND went to sleep.. I woke up and apparently I wasn't as lucky as you :)

Any ideas??

Yeah. If you sync with Google, your contacts aren't going to be affected, obviously--they'll just re-sync. And it didn't touch the stuff on my SD card.

But... everything else will be wiped clean. Kind of fun, honestly, to go through and re-set everything as I want it (especially because now the phone gives me more options for doing so). And I'd stopped using Sense with 1.5, Home ran so much faster for me... and now I get to re-introduce myself to Sense w/2.1.

Also, if I can go on a random tangent... I CAN DISABLE THAT GODDAMNED LED NOW! :)

(I am a happy man this morning. However, this leak has been DISASTROUS for my productivity today.)

Read through all the great posts about the update and I think I'm going to do it. Too many cool apps available for only 2.0 and above to ignore and NTK (NKT?) makes it sound like we'll still be able to get OTA updates if there are differences in this release. Here's hoping for a clean and glitch-free update. Really appreciate all the Eris users on this forum!

I did not have that problem in the past, but I know it is not there in the current calendar. I can also say that the calendar app and widgets have been greatly improved. There is a new full screen agenda widget too.
 
I want to use this so badly, but I am very hesitant to go through with this, as I'm on my second Eris already; I would hate to be potentially stuck with a non-up-datable ROM. Plus, I really don't feel like screwing around and having to re-enter all of my info and downloading contacts, etc.

In other words, if you just Open Astro, and just scroll down, all of those files and folders are in the ROOT directory.

So in Windows, when you mount your SD card, just drag the file right onto the F: or G: or whatever drive it is. NOT in any specific folder.

The root directory just means the directory that holds all the other directories/folders. bascially.

Same here. I downloaded it, but feel I can wait for the official release. I don't want to deal with all these bugs if I don't have to. This is really exciting though.

Haven't verified it myself, but there is a link to a site with 1.5 and instructions on how to roll back to that.

I think I just realized something. Is there not a voice to text feature? I only see one for text to voice where it reads it out to you. I was thinking 2.1 had the former where you just spoke and it typed a text out for you.
 
Whats the process for updating this leak? Might be a dumb question but I was always doing it on my storm so I would love to know so its as simple as possible.
