Certainly. I think you will find that the majority of vurrent EVO users probably could care less either way in regards to its successor being kickstand-free. I think the people that frequent forums like this enjoy using their phones every potential and therefor are almost hurt when something is taken away. Sadly, we are not the majority userbase. Just think of how many EVOs have been sold compared to the number of people that care enough to come here and talk about it.

A hair thicker from the back, but you're not taking into consideration the sides also. I've tried every single case imaginable for the EVO and ALL of them were too thick.

We can agree to disagree. I'm purely looking at it from a business perspective. HTC could've figured out a way to work, if they felt it was worth the money and time to do so...they didn't, which tells me that it wasn't worth it. I do agree that they wanted to appeal to the masses...Only question there is if the masses really were "demanding" 3D or if they were going along with "hype" and "marketability." I say it's the later, rather than the general public actually "demanding" a 3D phone.

Ask yourself this, how many people in the general consumer fan base actually have a 3D TV?...My guess is still not very many because despite it being "popular" in the theaters, in this current economy, people are going for better deals on great LED TV's that are non-3D over the expensive, barely released, 3D LED TV's.

I do not own a 3D TV and well said ole bean.

Truth. Some people think that every Android user comes to the interwebs to discuss it. Our small dedicated group doesn't take preference over the majority of people running stock.

As long as this phone can email, text and not drop calls, I will be extremely happy. Oh wait, forgot I need at least 20mbps LTE download speeds.

The kickstand made the EVO different. Will never forget when I first used the kickstand in front of my buddy and his iPhone 4. So much hate. And Since the speaker of the EVO is in the back of the phone, playing music with the phone on the kickstand doesn't cover up the speaker. And you when put your EVO in alarm clock mode, the kickstand allows the phone to sit upon your nightstand like an alarm clock.

So I had an interesting discussion in another thread. Apparently it is entirely possible that the EVO 3D's battery may actually physically be bigger than the original EVOs. Obviously this isn't confirmed, but it is worth mentioning. If this is the case I can certainly see the difficulty in getting a physically bigger batter into a smaller package. I wish we could see a side by side comparison of batteries now.

Let me see if I can't get it to embed...

Is there anythought that this would replace the "OEM standard" plate or would this fit over it? I'm interested to see if TRIDENT will make a Kraken case for this one. I know some people don't like bulky but I tend to be a little rougher on my phone. The Otterbox on my hero has done a good job but I like the looks of the Trident Kraken and wonder how this may work with it.

I like the kickstand for both of these reasons. I have to use my old Instinct case to kick my Hero up so I can hear the alarm well enough or hold it up to hear music. The kickstand looks a little more sturdy due to width. However I did not see any complaints of the OG Evo falling over. :)

It ain't a party if I don't get those speeds. Forget Sprint's WiMax lol.

That's what I am saying. My phone takes a beating. Been through way too much for me to risk not putting that thing in something related to tank material.

I don't use the kickstand all that much to say I would miss it. Would be nice but it's not an issue.

HTC EVO 3D Accessories - First look at what's coming

Hey look: the orientation of the kickstand allows for simultaneously charging:

evo-3d-kickstand-case.png

Contrast that to the one we saw at CTIA:

Either the new case is different (to correct the boneheaded mistake), or the kickstand metal piece is interchangeable in orientation. Now I wonder if it can stand the phone up in portrait orientation...

I missed that. Nice catch! I might be interested in that for the desk/nightstand, although the monitor/lamp works as it is.

Oh snap, I didn't even think to look closely enough to notice that. Good catch. Also, that'd be great if the metal piece was interchangeable, but if it's not, I'd prefer it to allow charging while standing.

I think you're right on both points. It is new and looks like it is interchangeable. If you look closely at the first (newer version) pic, you see some tabs protruding from the kickstand. Look at the second (older version) and it doesn't have it. The new version is also noticeably thicker. I'm going to guess that the kickstand is interchangeable for either side by pulling on these tabs and flipping it. Also, the TBolt can stand up in portrait and this kickstand looks similar to the TBolt's kickstand.

Well, that confirms it's a case, not a replacement cover. And it looks really bulky, but I know some don't mind. Oh well, I'm waiting anyway.

Maybe they do read the forums...I posted the comment below in the "Why No Kickstand" thread in March.

-------------------------
"If they're going to sell a case with a kickstand, they should design it so that the kickstand can be removed and switched to the opposite direction to accommodate charging while viewing video. I believe Gingerbread will allow for viewing from any orientation, correct?"

I can watch video in any orientation in GB. Game orientation depends on the game, it seems. But that is a smaller issue because most would be touching the screen. But some devices do allow BT keyboard/mouse combos, which that may be relevant to.

Yeah, I'll take a look at it when it comes out, but it seems to add a lot of bulk, unless the cameras don't really protrude as far as I have envisioned in my head. I'd like to minimize bulk as much as possible.

been looking all over for a kickstand case for the evo 3d. anyone know if they are out yet? i should be picking up the phone this weekend and want that case to go with it. Thanks

I was thinking about ordering a Spiderpodium Breffo USA - BUY. Anyone here try one? Looks like it would work perfectly as a substitute for the kickstand and make it even more versatile. Posted about this in the cases thread but perhaps this is a more appropriate place. Thanks in advance for any feedback! :)
