Root EVO 4g Stuck in White Screen / Bootloop

o.k..cool, now I think you are trying to install a recovery correct? forgive my forgetfulness...:( it's late :)

Edit: sorry, to install a recovery via fastboot lets try this...again, I am copying/pasting the instructions origianally posted by Ocnbrze..so credit to him :)
And you can use the file posted for the recovery...it is also an excellent recovery :)

ADB command method
1.download amon ra 2.3 from here:
PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
2.extract the file and then go into and move recovery.img file into the android folder you created when unlocking your bootloader.
3.on your phone after you have unlocked your phone you should be in the bootloader menu screen, select the fastboot option
4.on your computer press and hold shift while right clicking the android folder.
5.select open command window here option (windows 7)
6.enter command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
congrats!!!!!! you have just installed amon ra 2.3
I thought it was going to work.
Command line said "writing recovery... Okay [1.544s] finished. total time: 2.663s."
But no change to phone. Clockwork mod is still there. :(
Thanks for trying.

Maybe I skipped a step. Step 3 you said "after you have unlocked your phone." How was I supposed to unlock it?

Well, that unlocked referred to the HTCdev unlock method to root.
Your hboot is version 6.16.1002 correct?
If so, you are fully rooted, so dont worry about the unlock thing.
(btw, your hboot is the same as mine)

I just don't understand what the issue is here...not being able to change your recovery??!!!

Did you attempt to run the PC36IMG ruu provided earlier by Ocnbrze?

Yes I did. It said it updated 7 out of the 8 items, everything but hboot. And yes, my hboot is 6.16.1002. Could I try to install the RUU using this fastboot method?

Yes, it will be in a .exe file tho which you can run from your computer while your phone is plugged in as your are...let me find the link.
I think at this time, that is the way to go...stand by....

Edit: download this to your computer and run it. Plug in your phone while in bootloader and follow the instructions.....
I'll be up for a little while longer to see how it goes for ya :)

Edit: oops...it would help to post the link eh?

Just for clarification, I unplug the phone from USB, run the .exe on the computer, then plug in the phone while in fastboot and follow instructions?

I believe so, as it may tell you to do so...I never had to run it so I am not 100% sure...let me see if I can get someone to verify that for ya ;)

i'm already in it. It says replace image version 4.45.651.1 with image version 4.45.651.1.
I think this is gonna do it! I have a black htc screen now and I have a green progress bar on the phone!!!

lol It finished and rebooted.....sadly, still bootlooping :( It has to be this POS clockwork mod!
Get some sleep. You've put a lot of time in on this. Thanks again for helping. I'll keep researching.

Still says the same thing!

It's 8GB freshly formatted fat32 earlier today. I did copy all of the old directories and files back on it after the format though as someone suggested earlier in the thread.

Get some sleep. Again, thanks for helping. I'll check back tomorrow.:smokingsomb:

I've jumped into the middle here so sorry if its been covered.

Last post before bed.

Have you tried booting into recovery from boot loader?

If it bootloops, try reinstalling recovery and then trying again

Try rerunning the ruu

This sounds an awful lot like boot loop of death, but that shouldn't affect your h boot

Yes, We did all of that. Tried installing new recover by copying to sd card. It recognizes it, acts like it updates, but actually does nothing.

Tried installing ruu from sd card. again same thing.

Tried installing new recovery with fast boot connected to computer via USB.

Tried installing ruu using update utility via fastboot and usb.

None of this could get rid of clockwork mod and the bootloop madness continues.

Anyone can help me to solve my phone?
Have you tried a different sd card? You mentioned before you had a 1GB card.
I would suggest an 8GB card.:)

Or you can try what I suggested above to thabluebull.
