I'd try it again and try the reboot instead of saying no....I'm thinking rebooting might complete the installation in this case.....just a thought
Already tried that too. Then I just get the normal bootloop with HTC logo.

Well, unless someone else comes up with a better idea, my last suggestion would be to run an ruu. Which will unroot you and put you back onto a stock rom. (the ruu will be run with a PC36IMG, just like the recovery install method)...Already tried that too. Then I just get the normal bootloop with HTC logo.

Ok. Installing through bootloader is definitely not working. I tried several different recoveries from different sources and it looks like they want to start but don't.
Mikestony, You mentioned installing using a fastboot method. I researched a little on that and looks like I need a terminal emulator on my PC. Is that right? It would have the drivers needed to connect through USB as well unless I was reading the wiki wrong.
Any recommendations on fastboot?
I think I will need a little guidance to install the RUU. I'm not opposed to this at all but would like to try different ways wile my phone is out of commission. Ill use that as a last resort. Don't know how to RUU since I can't boot into recovery, only the bootloader. Otherwise I'd just try another ROM.
Sorry if this is non-sensical. I got about 4 hours sllep, up all night researching. :/
CorrectYou said your computer will not recognize your phone when plugged in correct?
Haven't tried yet. I guess I'll go ahead with this. I really need a phone!what does it say in the bootlaoder when you try the PC36IMG ruu?

oo, dont try anything from there...that is not your phoneIt listed 1 - 8 Radio, Wimax, System, etc. I told it to update. It went through and updated everything except Hboot. It said it could not roll it back. Phone still doing same thing.
I found this on installing RUU. Looks like this is next to try.

What does your bootloader say now?Now I can select fastboot and plug it into USB on computer and is recognized in Printers and Devices. Doesn't show up in Windows Explorer Though.
Do you have the drivers for the phone installed on computer? Also shows up as 5880 (card reader but says it doesn't have a driver.
Ugh.

When your doing something like this, pay close close attention what your doing. Your trying to flash an ruu for the Evo v 4g (not Evo 4g) confusing since the v 4g came into play. Double and triple check what you flash is for the og 4g![]()

You have to make sure the file is named correctly, if you add a .zip to the end of it in windows, you end up with PC36IMG.zip.zip....then it won' work. No extra .zip. Also, make sure the file is not in a folder on your sd card. What size sd card did you use? A 2GB card will give you issues....An 8 gb card is good.
I'm sure filename is PC36IMG.zip not PC36IMG.zip.zip
My file is not in a folder. I'm sure this one. Because before I'm copy this file, I'm always formating this SD Card.
My sd card size is 1GB and I format it with FAT. (I think this sd card just for repairing, so size is not important. It's true Sir? CMIIW)

-Take the battery out and back in. Then boot into bootloader by holding down Volume Down and Power button together

Try to install a recovery with this method:
this will depend on what software version you are on.
if you have software version 4.67.651.1 download this file:PC36IMG.zip
if you have software version 5.07.651.1 download this file:
PC36IMG_AmonRA-v2.3-hausmod_revA.zip
1.download the PC36IMG for your software version above.
2.rename the file so that it is only PC36IMG. make sure that you do not add any extra .zip's to the name as windows hides extensions by default.
3.transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card.
4.power off (you most likely need to uncheck fastboot. settings/apps/uncheck fastboot.) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should see the file and select yes to update.
6.select no to reboot because we want to go into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
7.select recovery.
8.select backup and restore and select backup
9. select the first three and wimax. the other partitions do not need to be backed up. always keep one nandroid backup with wimax keys backed up on your computer.
10.now you can reboot.
11.using a file manager of some sort or even through your computer via usb, you should rename or delete the PC36IMG file on your card. otherwise you will be asked to update every time you go to the hboot screen. you do not need that file any more.
I don't think you will be able to see your sd card when only in bootloader.Ok, I downloaded the HTC, then uninstalled it, but left the drivers. Still can't see the SD card as a drive in Windows Explorer though. It shows up in Devices and Printers as Android 1.0 Device status working properly. Now do I need to install the android SDK? I'm confused what to do next.
fastboot devices
