I think videos are lame. I do not look at them. Waste of time sitting there watching someone do it. I want instructions.

Ok. Here is what you need to do. First clone the meid of the donor (TU) to the target phone (Shift). How will you know you cloned it? The Shift will have the same number under Settings> About Phone and the TU will have under the battery. Once they match you cannot have both devices on at the same time EVER!

To do the MEID matching you can use "open sesame door". It says it is for the Evo 3d but it will work on the shift.

Do they match? If not do not proceed further.

Get the ha and aaa keys from the donor. The ha will be a string of 12 characters. The aaa will be a string of 32 characters. I do not know of any way to get those off the phone itself. You probably do not have the right one.

Got the ha and the aaa keys? If not do not proceed further.

Turn off the TU and turn on the Shift. Reset the Shift by doing a ##786# reset. When the phone does a successful reboot the phone is going to try and do OTA activation. Cancel it.

Use QPST Service Programming to program the Shift's profile 0 according to what you got off the TU. After you have done that you'll write it to the phone and the phone will reboot. Once rebooted the phone will again go into OTA programming. Let it complete this time.

OTA consists of 3 steps. First is activation. This usually takes 3-5 min. Second is PRL programming. This usually takes a bit longer, like 5-8 min. Third is firmware update. You can cancel that step. Sometimes the phone reboots between the 3 steps. Let it. Sometimes it doesn't. Dont force it. If at the end of 10 minutes you still cannot get through the first step of activation then you need to cancel it. Start back at the ##786# reset step and try again.

If you come through the 3 steps of activation successfully then you need to let the phone sit for 5 min and then reboot the phone manually. Once it comes back up make some test calls and text back and forth. Test out the internet. Good? Ok. Done.

As for the instructions being a bit muddled... I dont know about others but to me it is muddled for a purpose.

You see there are two kinds of people who are trying to do this. One, the folks who can find the necessary programs by themselves and know a bit about what they're trying to accomplish. Two, everyone else. The second is a broad group. People who cannot follow instructions, who have no clue what the programs are for, who think this is like flashing a new rom, and so on.

This thread is for the first group of people. The tinkerers and the hobbiers. The second group are the people who buy the guides off ebay, who pay people to do this for them, who do not understand why both phones cannot be on at the same time and so on.

I mean no offense to you. What I mean is know your limits and know what you want to accomplish. I've met both the kinds of people. The ones who need a bit more guidance and the ones who call me up on a regular basis and have me reflash their phone.

Good luck.

kolosus,i appreciate your input,no offense taken.
i didnt mean to seem like a typical plead my case of " i dont know what to do".ive just invested some money into doing this and i want it to work.
ive gotten the AAA keys backed up properly,i have all 4-the 2 HA shared keys from which i understand remain the same.
and the two AAA secrets.
one was 6 Characters ive converted to hex.
the other was in hex already, that was 32 characters.

if anyone or you possibly are willing to teamviewer me or something, thatd be awesome.
id also like to put out there im not your average user,im very advanced when it comes to this stuff, and i know the software pretty well.
i think i might be writing the keys wrong or something.

So i have been following this thread for a while...I have a prevail and was planning on the transfer to the evo. Now I have the evo 4g and am in the planning stages to do it.

I have acouple questions, though...
First, how much of the original guide do i follow and what are the differences.

I went to start today and realized that idk how to get the stl5 file to the pc. :-(
My copy of cdma ws was a trial and it ran out i guess.

Any help to get started would be greatly appreciated.

I really suggest giving this a shot before you pay for the service. Some guy at the local swap meet wanted to charge me 150 dollars to do it. He said its expensive because of the software that has to be used.. I was like wtf theirs no software to buy just the Donner phone. I can do it myself but I'm to lazy. Guy looks at me with this ridiculous face... their scammers

Actually just legally buy this software is expensive CDMA workshop is $100 alone
But if you flash many phones 150 is nuts

But all you need is cdma workshop yet theirs people charging ******ed prices. By the way cdma workshop isn't even half of what's needed to flash right?

With some donor phones CDMA WS is all you need, but with most you also would want QPST, QXDM, and LGNPST would be helpful for the LG Phones.
At this time the cracked versions are what people are using, but in the case of cdma ws the cracked version can not do nearly as much there for you have to have all the others as well.

By the way for the person wanting to use the prevail, you dont need to get the stl5 off the phone and read it with isomagic.

That is not needed any longer you can use QPST, efs file explorer to make changes in the nv partition.
You do need to use cdma ws to send the default samsung pass code though.
any version of cdma ws works I believe.

OK last thing. I've been told that once the flash is complete you can't use or even turn on the phone you were using previously. Is this true? N are their any videos made for this? I'm not very good with written instructions.

As long as the donor phone has the same ESN number as it's original then no you cannot turn them both on the system will see two phone and it will cut them both off

Possible, check the first or second post in this thread, the video would be for the evo 3d but the steps are the same basically.

Hey guys. I just wanted to check on something and maybe get a little reassurance. I currently own a rooted boost HTC evo design. A guy on Craig's locally has a evo 3d for sprint for 80 bucks. I have messed around with rooting and cwm. So not complete noob. But Iwant to buy his phone and flash it to my boost account. The thing is reading these instructions. Seems like its kinda complicated. so I'll be honest... I'm a little anxious about this. So sorry to be long winded. But questions are. 1. Do you think my local boost store might let me port from the sprint 3d? If not, anyone who has used a design as a donor? If so was it intense? Or did it go OK..? Thanks for your help!

I have a Sprint Design that I've used as the target phone... a different phone was the donor. Haven't used the Boost Design as the donor. But I'm pretty sure the process is the same... Get the 3d program it with the Design's keys and use the 3d. Simple as that. Now if you want to get 4g service from the 3d too then you're talking about stuff that's outside the scope of my knowledge. Keep us posted and if you run into a snag let us know. We can work you through this... Except the 4g part. Good luck.

There is a guy on xda that used the design for a donor, 4g and all.
Dont know what he did as no one was interested in dropping close to $300 for a donor but it was the guy that posted a similar guide up on xda so I believe him when he says its doable.

Go figure...
So I took my EVO to a friend that does flashes. Theirs a company called prepayedwirless.com this company takes cdma phones from a few different carriers and will activate them with no haking involved. They have a 50$ unlimited 3g plan and a 60$ unlimited 4g plan and they run on the Sprint network. They allow you to port your number over and theirs no activation fee. I'm not promoting them or any thing of that sort, I just thought some people would like to use their EVO without the hastle of flashing. It's what I'm currently using on my og EVO and so far so good :)

Yes I did check them. The thing is I'm at 40.00 a month with Boost and that's for 4g. Which I get where I live. so It Was A no go for me. But for others its not a bad option. Thank you for making people aware. I missed that.

For it to be that cheap you must be a boost customer for atleast 3 years.. or did you have an older phone with that plan? Either way better to know huh :)

The attitude in some peoples replies . For instance. Why would you say in a smirking tone. You must have been a boost customer for 3 years. ? Huh ?If your not feeling well about what you pay. Jeez. Just say so. Now having cleared the air. Yea actually I've been with them for five years. First two were non android. The old walked talkyy IDEN .lol you see i don't like to be a indirect type bh . If im gone question someone's integrity. I do it directly and to the point. its kinda manly . You should try it. Lol. Btw. Love boost...anyway time to root this s2. For those of you common folk.. Like me. Thanks for your help and i hope you understand..

well i have not flashed a phone to any carrier before so i can't help you too much. but the whole idea is to switch esn's and radios over to boost.

from what i understand you will need to get cdma workshop, the hardest part is to find one that is cracked but free of viruses. or you can pay for it, but it is not free and is quite expensive.

this guide here is pretty thorough, but read, read, and read. and be very careful as you are messing with radios and you could easily brick the phone if you mess up.......not trying to scare you though, just be careful and you should be ok.

i would really read this entire thread if you have the time. there is a lot of trouble shooting going in this thread that might help you.

I was under the impression that the cdma trial version was sufficient. That aside, yeah, its a headache lol. New phone, new method, ALOT of reading for sure. I thank all that have tricked out these phones and found all them dandy tricks, as well as the patience to help a noob when he/she is in need!

Thanks

Dj

You can go to WWW.flashtotalk.com I'm not to sure they can do boost flash. It's not free but its way cheaper than having a tech do it for you. Techs charge well over 100$ creating an account with flashtotalk is like 50$ plus they have support services to guide you through the proce. Not promoting them, just found their website and thought it be helpful

If you dont have the new Paid for version of cdma ws then you also need qpst and qxdm there are versions of those out, build 366 of qpst that you will also need.

Flashing to boost is simple because many have done it with multiple phones so the info to pull off the donor is well documented.
Flashing to other carrier you will need to find out to get the info from the donor.
That is the hard part.
