Root Evo 4G to Boost Mobile Guide/Evo 3D

I appreciate that :) What all is in that package? Am I able to just root and install the 2.15.00.11.19 radio myself on another rom possibly? Would that work?
 
Okay, just so I have this right, I root and install CWM, than install the rom, put PC36IMG in the root directory of my sdcard (holding volume down while booting) and that's it? Would it be safe to go directly to 2.15.00.09.01? Or should I do it with the 2.15.00.11.19 radio and than do what the guide says for downgrading?

Well, I'm about to get an evo, I'm trying to make sure I'm fully prepared to do this and make sure I understand everything, I would guess that the Evo would have a newer radio, possible it doesn't but I'd still like to be prepared for such. Either way, can't really follow to instructions word for word if there is no place to download (every) necessary file. Hm... Just asking for alternatives since there doesn't seem to be a download available for it.
 
When you are in EFS explorer you just drag the files you need to your computer. Then right click the files in efs explorer and select delete. When you are done editing, you go back to efs explorer right click and select copy file from pc. Select your file and click ok.
 
can some one help me with this info i have team viewer and Skype much appreciated if any one could thanx in advance

What version of EFS explorer do you have? I am not able to click and drag onto my computer. I can delete though

ok I unlocked the folders using the method in the guide but the guide then asks to put the files onto the desktop but the two files will not transfer. What am i doing wrong here???

More than likely it is because of S-On.
 
So I spent a couple of days thinking I was doing something wrong as my Evo 4G had problems randomly rebooting anytime I set it up, well turned out it was defective and I got a refund however I managed to flash a spare one my friend had and bought it from him in about 30 minutes :) a big portion of this guide isn't even necessary lol essentially what I did-
(didn't root or anything until after flashing everything and works with any radio)

1. Get the HA shared passwords etc such as in the guide and get my Evo 4G spc (did not flash nam files or anything) and did get all the same info the guide said to
2. ##786# reset the phone (to make sure NV items were appropriate sprint default)
3. Used the Evo 3D method of removing the MEID and changing it (it does work on the 4G)
4. Setup profile 0 (not profile 1 and left the set profile to default)
5. Setup PPP
6. Restarted and the phone activated successfuly to boost via hands free activation :)
7. Did have a problem making calls and texts etc but I just changed to a temporary MEID I found at howardforums in my boost mobile account and changed it back a few minutes later to the correct one and it works perfectly
8. Customized and rooted etc after the phone was flashed :) good idea to flash a rom in my opinion just because I wouldn't wanna accidently do an upadte or anything

I've been using the phone for about a week now and there has been no issue, flashing roms etc has no effect on the flash either. Btw I had gotten help from howardforums :) that forum is great.
 
I bought a doner incognito and an evo 3d rooted, and already flashed for boost on ebay. The seller told me to transfer the incognito to my account, and after activation power it off, pull battery, put it away, and use the already pre-programmed evo 3d. It was not this simple as I feared. After trying to place a call with the evo 3d I get a pre-recorded message saying "Your account could not be validated, please call customer support.". I have to use the doner as a primary phone until I can resolve the evo issue. My ebay seller is very slow to get back to me, so thats why i am exploring this myself.
 
Well that's not the exact error message I had received but anytime I turn on my incognito and than my evo again it says "Error number 16 switch 222" it seems accessing it from a different PRL right after another *seems* to cause this problem but idk. My solution was to shut off the incognitom change the meid on the account to a temporary meid and than change it back after a few minutes and it worked on my evo. I've heard that if you stay on the line someone will come on and just tell them you're having a problem making calls (give the info for your donor phone) and they'll call you on another line and ask you to make a test call. It was a pain finding a temporary meid so if you need one pm me and I can send you the one I used. There is a thread on howardforums with meids that you can borrow but like 99% of them are in use.

[edit] Scratch that the MEID I used for a temporary MEID is now in use :/ laaaame but here is a thread full of MEIDs you can try...

im kinda lost here, i do know that in the evo 3d phone info menu the userid and the meid are neither set to correspond to my incognito. i didn't do any of this work myself, i was under the impression by the person i bought if from that it ready to go. I did however know that this is the best place to go, short of having to pay someone else to do what i though may have, (and could very well be) already done.
 
Oh wow, so you bought a flashed phone that wasn't flashed huh? Yeah I'd be pissed. If it makes ya feel any better it could be a good learning opportunity :) If the phone was flashed the MEID on the Evo 3D should be the same as the Incognito.
 
yeah it sucks. It may have been flashed before as the evo 3d says boost on the carrier info line. But when i added the doner phone to my account it switched this info up and now the evo doesn't match the doner. I just need to know how to make them match. the root and flash is crippled, and i don't know where to start cause I haven't prepared for this.
 
Is there a step-by-step out there on how to use the Samsung Galaxy Prevail as the donor phone? I've seen some success in this thread with the Prevail as the donor phone, I just don't know how to dig all of the info out of it that I'd need for the Evo.

Well the main portion of the guide you need than is this (keep in mind you'll still have to go through part of the guide because you need to get the SPC of your evo via CDMA workshop)


Round 6:
Follow these steps in exact order.
1. Download and install the QPST Build 366 of version 2.7 and the HxD, and the latest Android SDK from the following link: Android SDK | Android Developers
2. Put the phone in USB debugging mode by going to settings/ applications/ development and check in where it says USB debugging, also it is helpful to check stay awake so you can see the phone processes while working.
3. Go to phone and dial ##3424# to access Diagnostics mode the computer will need the appropriate drivers to continue, once installed move on to the next step.
5. Open your device manager from the control panel, and locate your com ports, expand the com port section and you will see the port for HTC DIAGNOSTICS.
6. Open QPST Configuration and add the new port for the HTC, then close configuration.
7. Open EFS Explorer from the start menu under QPST and make sure the phone is showing up then, Enter the SPC code and press OK.
8. Once the phone reads completely make a new directory named (open sesame door) without the parentheses and all lower case
9. After making the new folder locate abd.exe from the android sdk install folder and press: start, run and type cmd then press enter you will get a command prompt window that opens up navigate to the android sdk directory and type; adb reboot, the phone should then reboot if you

i saw reference and a video pertaining to switching the epic 4g to boost, im wondering if the method is still working for the epic. if im in the wrong forum could someone please direct to the right area. does anyone know if you can use the motorola theory instead of the incognito in this method. i read its best to use the icognito but i cant find mine and have the theory available

well if i may ask one additional question., I followed along very closely, and I have working 3g data, but all outbound voice calls lead me to an automated message saying "Error number 16... a spanish translation, then switch 264" All incoming calls are going straight to voice-mail and the phone never rings.. I must be close if the data is working but what else is wrong? thanks so much for the advice..
 
I've swapped the esn from shift with the incognito already. Using QXDM and esn locations already found in a text file. I plan on doing the evo 3d , but I am confused on how you zero out the esns on there. I would like to completely understand the process before buying one.
You say drag the file and change the esn and another file for the meid....then talk about zeroing multiple esn and meid locations. Does this file write multiple locations ? Or are there multiple files that i need to write?
I guess I am confused because you write that we drag on file for esn and one file for meid, but then talk about zeroing multiple locations.

I have done this with prevail it will work!

I used another guide on XDA to start off for Epic4g. I then used the guide as you pointed out on XDA to get the Ha, and AAA password, then I read, and wrote NV items. That left me with no baseband version, or hardware version. I thought I was screwed! I read that I was officially bricked. I do not know if that helped to get it working, so do at your own risk. To fix the unknown baseband, and hardware version I finally found where one had same problem, and used odin to restore phone with Phone EFS Clear checked, and it fixed the problem of the NV file write. After that I used QXDM did all the steps, and it worked! Thanks to who helped give us this information.
 
Should I have roaming....

I was at a place that I frequent and didn't have hardly any voice and no data.

Before my phone was converted to Boost Mobile, and I had my Sprint plan, I always had a little bit of service and data there.
