Root Evo 4G to Boost Mobile Guide/Evo 3D

ok so i'm back at it. but this time I have one for all of you .....i have 2 Samsung Galaxy Prevail with the usb port not working. is there a way to get the stl5 file off the Samsung with out root. dont care if the Samsung gets bricked. just need the file ?

Do you already have a recovery on the device or is it in stock condition.

The only way I know of to get the stl5 file is if you're already rooted and can pull it out with a file manager. Since you're looking at a dead usb port if you do not have a recovery on it already you might be looking at a tough situation...

If you can do adb commands through wifi then that might be something to look into... but then you're beyond my depth and someone else might be able to help you with that. Good luck.

Okay I am new to the community and You all helped me a lot in the forums time to give back. Ive done this to get my phone working on boost mobile.and every bit of info helps. i got the HTC Evo 4g on chop suey 9.2.7 kernel and mikg rom 2.59 overclocked to 1190 performance.

this is a compilation of everything you need to flash to boost mobile. reason im doing this cause when i started it was hard as hell and i didnt know jack.
plus people are charging you an arm and a leg for them to do it, and there being really stingy with the info. cause the wanna milk you for the money to do it. sharing is caring. this is why were here. to help each other. its your phone you should be able to do what you want or witch ever service you want. not be locked up in a contract. bad enough being married. ENJOY:D

also there were pics but they didnt post up and its best to get all the programs you need

ok i been working on this for the last few nights i am 8hs in to it now in and i am at the point to write the nv on the evo and when i tryed said my file".............txt*" cant be used as a nv back up files.now maybe i copyed them and saved them to a notepad has something to do with it idk seems like every step i get suck on something. and could really to some help.i am a noob to this :)
 
Gh0strider89. Use the Evo 3d method. It works on any baseband version and is much easier. Looking for the nv items and zeroing them out is a very hard process and you can brick your phone. Just follow the Evo 3d method. Google "open sesame door".

creed7727. Without the 32 bit aaa password for profile 0 you're kinda not going to be able to do this. So without being able to root the phone or getting the stl5 file off the phone you're stuck. If the phone was rooted already there was hope... but without I dont see a way. If you can figure out a way to root it without need for the usb...
 
not realyy finding anything i may need to find someone to walk threw it with me and was wondering if the rest of the set can be done on win 7

I am curious to see if this would work on a evo 3d with a AOSP rom on it? I honestly don't want to revert back to stock to put into diag mode...
 
Thank you guys so much for putting this info out there I had to use this in conjunction with two other tutorials but in the end I finally got my 3vo on metro...I applaud you :)

Did you google? Did you read the first post in this thread? The open sesame door method takes about 10 min tops and works like a charm. Once you have the profile 0 information that you need off the donor you do not need xp anymore. I've known some folks to actually use xp in virtual box to connect to the donor and get the info. If you're not using an incognito donor there is no need for xp at all. Everything can be done on 7.

I think you're getting confused. The Evo 3d method is an easy way to zero out the meid of your phone. The NV items are needed to program the phone for data. If you do not get those files you may be able to program the phone for voice and text but data is going to become a problem without the NV items.

I use linux. My xp is a throw away OS that I use just for flashing. You can scan all you want but if you want to use the cracked software then you have to choice but to let your computer be exposed to the viruses/trojans. Only way to do this without need for the cracked software is to get a legit copy of cdma ws. It is worth it but not everyone is willing to spend that much for software that they are going to use a few times... Hell MS is having a hard time convincing folks to pay for Win7 and MS Office and most people use that everyday! lol I by the way have a legit cdma ws... but I still use the cracked ones for most of what I do... I dont have access to the net all the time and the legit copy checks with the mother ship every time you start it up. I've flashed a few phones in the parking lot of gas stations and getting net access in those places is sometimes a challenge.

The one thing that the latest cdma ws does spectacularly is change the meid of HTC devices without having to jump hoops.
 
I have found a easier way to flash the evo , lte , shift, 3d ... and only one program you need a paid version of *cdma workshop* ... takes less than 30 minutes to everything working with 3g and mms working ... doesn't matter what version the htc is on ... no root required ...
 
need to see if anyone is on that can im me i am about done i hope:).i am at the point of 0 my mied and esn out just got done and i rebooted the phone and the meid(hex) has ''a1000000000000'' that i wasnt sure if i needed to 0 out the a1?
2nd thing is my esn # DIDNT 0 out but there a few that i seen that had the first 7 # right but the last one was a A and not


still dont have it plzs help :( will be up for about 2 more hours
 
Has anybody heard of using a Sanyo Taho e4100 as a donor for flashing to boost....had somebody flash a phone for me off ebay and they used it as a donor, seems to work great! So I just purchased a couple used Taho's off ebay to experiment flashing for myself....I used ting to get the 6 digit SPC/MSL but am wondering if I should just follow the steps in other guides for the rest flashing it? I've read a dozen tutorials and am close to diving in the deep in. would appricate any help offered! Thanks!
