Root Evo Port Test ROMs | Droid Incredible

I was working from here, but yeah, that might be the database as well.

Either way the database is propagated from a package. I think its TelephonyProvider.apk, which is what the proposed fix updates.

Test 1:
proposed_mms_fix_1.zip

This fix may also require you to delete
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
and reboot before it works.

If it works.

I may have did this incorrect but I went into recovery, install zip from SD card, choose zip from SD card, let it do it's thing and it went through, but still no change after rebooting phone. Also I went into the data/data directory you suggested, manually deleted the telephony database and rebooted the phone. Went back into the directory to see that it re-populated itself and tested but no luck.

I did however edit the APN after using c0dej0ckey's suggestion and that did the trick.

is there any other steps I need to do to test this? did I miss something?

also for grins I tried to run the APK for some odd reason as a last resort from system/app hoping for a shiny light at the end of the tunnel but to no avail

If someone could wipe after this fix to test, that would be great. That would tell me if I am completely off base.

Make a nandroid first of course. Luckily, thanks to codejockey, we have a workaround in the meantime.

wipe the cache partition in clockwork recovery?

this is what I have tried, after nand of course:

1. edited the APN file to null/change from fix, the mms proc - mmsc=""
2. went into recovery and installed zip from sd card
3. installed the zip for the fix
4. wiped cache partition
5. rebooted phone
6. test with no luck, stuck in sending message, both on handcent as well as messaging

willing to help test but as we all do, i have a busy schedule as well so sorry if i cant get to this right away. i could not recall the proc from the original apn in the mmsc section but i thought it would have re-populated itself.

No rush at all folks. We have a workaround thats perfectly viable for now.

That said, I meant a data wipe, hence the backup first. Nobody should feel pressured or rushed though. I will be out for most of tomorrow anyway.

Hmm so I did my nandroid, booted into recovery, wiped data and cache, then installed this from the SD Card, and now the phone just keeps flashing the HTC bootup screen.

edit: I had been running the leaked 2.2 rom, NOT the 8/1. I had the 2.0 radio and everything. restoring nandroid now. Also i should mention that along with this ROM, I went ahead and loaded YoJoe600's smooth evo battery icon as well while in recovery. Maybe i'll try just the ROM this time.

edit2: Just installing the ROM then rebooting worked. Now am I ballsy enough to try the smooth battery icon again....

edit3: yes i am. it worked this time. So the only thing I can figure out was different is that I tried to install them at the same time before the first boot up.

Final question: Can i do the stock lockscreen patch on this ROM?

One extremely minor bug that I noticed was... When debugging turned on and I plug into my cigarette lighter in the car, I get the debugging indicator triangle. This is just an annoyance and minor but I thought you might like to know in case it affects other things.

wouldn't changing the APN to verizon's server fix it?

i just tried this and it worked. i changed the APN to use mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms" and it worked.

Did this but I had to "Clear Data" under Managed Apps for Messaging for it to work.

Thanks!

Confirmed. I've noticed that it occasionally hangs with debugging on every Froyo release I have seen so far for the Dinc. Probably to be resolved on final release.

htc_ime_dinc.zip

Let me know if you have any troubles, and thank you for your support.

Perfect!!!!! Absolutely perfect!!!! Thank you. Those four arrows were taking up a lot of real estate. This ROM has been running fantastic for me! I haven't had a single bug yet.

i changed the APN to use mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms" and it worked.

Is it strange that mine was already set to this? Perhaps Titanium Backup changed it back for me.

Which of the smooth battery icons work with this build? I tried the last one he posted (with the transparent bar), and it hung at the droid eye, never to return, lol.

It'd be nice if someone who's running it would link to the specific ones that work, as there are quite a few on the other thread here.

One bug i noticed is MMS Slides don't show in the stock android app, nor do they show in slide mode in Handcent, but will show in flat mode. The slide mode just shows a black screen for the duration of the play. I can still save the images and look at them that way, so its not a huge issue, but something i thought i would let you know about.

Otherwise I like this rom the best so far. its speedy, mostly bug free, and Especially liking the 6 signal bars that looks like I have alot more signal strength than I had before.

I too have been having the apps not installing on first try sometimes in the marketplace. it seems completely random, and sometimes takes upto 3 or 4 tries to work finally, while other times installs first shot. Odd.
