Root Exploit

Usually takes at least a month or two. I'm concerned that, with all the new devices on the market, that there are fewer devs working on the EVO. I need to take my phone into the store to prove there's nothing wrong with it (trying to get reimbursed for poor service at my house) and I need to do the OTA because I'm sure they'll say that will fix it (it won't).

i would not worry about dev support for th evo. even though the 3d is out we are still getting amazing roms out for our beloved evo. support will not die out. i mean the hero is still being developed.

but guys come on give the devs sometime. it is not like this is easy or something. and that finding exploits are their number one job. most of these guys have other jobs or going to school. so be patient and give the devs some credit.

weren't you already rooted? what happened?

when we got the update to 2.02 hboot it took a month or 2 for them to find an exploit.

I'm sure someone is working on it. and dev support wont be dropped. but it may take longer this time as there are other phones for the devs to find exploits for.

I am not a frequent poster, but have been on here for a while. I am extremely thankful for the hard work by the dev's and the help recieved from all of the forum regulars.

Unlike some other users I have seen around, I will not ask when the exploit will be discovered. It should be apparent that each time a new update is rolled out, it will become harder and harder to find the exploit.

I am like a few others in that I need to obtain a new phone to replace the one I currently have with a charging port issue. I am currently holding off swapping them out as I really like the my rooted phone, but I also have to turn it in before the charging port completely fails or I will have to pay the $100. Right now Sprint has stated they will swap it free of charge.

But is it possible to get a status report of how things are going with the exploit effort? If some of the devs report that they are having a b***h of a time (which I'm sure they are) we could at least provide some encouragement and/or moral support!

Either way, Keep Up The Great Work, Dev's!

well a status update would be great but lets be honest the people working on the exploit have little in the way of people skills lol. Long story short people requesting updates annoys them to death. They specifically say in places like irc not to ask about an eta...so status update seems unlikely. When it happens it happens....

i recently went to the evo 3d and it seems after a year with the evo and now the 3d the exploit gets harder and harder to find. since we have to deal with htc and spring unlike the nexus which is fully open source it takes a little while. patience will pan out and if it doesnt by the 24 of july i will say good bye to my 3d

lol... That absolutely killed me! After I read that, I decided my work day was done.

If nothing comes of this, I can relish in the fact that I had a rooted phone and, during tht ttime, life was good.

Glad I could help you find a reason to be unproductive. :)

There will be rooted phones In the future :) I have my doubts whether the 3d will be one of them. Also have my doubts about htc gingerbread....but that's me.

hey, you just keep your doubts to yourself:mad:.i'm more optimistic:D

My pint glass is always empty........because I'm a lush.... and a pessimist...... they'll find root, only a matter of time. :)

the right people have to be looking, for it to be found...just saying...

Why the hell do you care ocean lol you are rooted and running gb...? :)

3d came WAY too locked, I don't trust htc to unlock it with an ota..

Nice illustration though, I suppose if I sealed the top and pulled a vacuum it would be empty... ;)

Thought I'd chime in here:

Evo 3D root exploit might be close. Given that both E3D and E4G Roms are GB Sense 3, the hole might be applied to both phones. And as I also confirmed today, any phone with a leaked ENG bootloader can be fully rooted, regardless of how secure the existing bootloader is. All you need is that exploit to get temp root access. From there, you simply flash the ENG bootloader over the original one. Full root.

So... it's looking pretty good that E3D will be fully rooted. HTC's bootloader-unlock OTA is looking less relevant. And any positive development for E3D will be good news for people with stock E4G with GB waiting for root.

UPDATE: Maybe not. Developer that found the exploit for Evo 3D just got off an IRC session where he explained that the exploit may not apply to Evo 4G. See the transcript of the chat here:

Good deal! I might just research the 3vo then. I was thinking of giving the EVO to the wife and using her upgrade for the 3vo. I'll wait a while and see where this goes.....

Might underlined lol. They still looking into adobe for the exploit? We do have the eng for it so that is good. Hope they find an exploit so its relevant.

Do you know what's up with the smart card?

That's my plan also rocky lol. I think in getting a transformer today though!

so looks like root is very close for the evo 3d. hopefully that means the evo is close behind.
Team Win Finds Exploit for EVO 3D, Should Be Bringing Root Any Day Now

Hmmmm, this gets better looking every day. I may have to unroot the Hero so the wife hates her phone and will do anything to get her hands on mine. :D
