Root Exploit

A transformer?

Yes optimus prime, found him on craigslist with an all spark for 50 bucks...the asus tablet that can dock with a keyboard. Best tab out in my opinion. $399, dual core tegra 2, 10 inch, android 3.1, rooted, quality display and build. Took two days to convince the gf to let me buy it. I bribed her with a new 150 dollar webcam lol she folded

hey, you just keep your doubts to yourself:mad:.i'm more optimistic:D

Looks like the engineer designed the glass twice as big as it needed to be, figures.

Thought I'd chime in here:

Evo 3D root exploit might be close. Given that both E3D and E4G Roms are GB Sense 3, the hole might be applied to both phones. And as I also confirmed today, any phone with a leaked ENG bootloader can be fully rooted, regardless of how secure the existing bootloader is. All you need is that exploit to get temp root access. From there, you simply flash the ENG bootloader over the original one. Full root.

So... it's looking pretty good that E3D will be fully rooted. HTC's bootloader-unlock OTA is looking less relevant. And any positive development for E3D will be good news for people with stock E4G with GB waiting for root.

UPDATE: Maybe not. Developer that found the exploit for Evo 3D just got off an IRC session where he explained that the exploit may not apply to Evo 4G. See the transcript of the chat here:

That is an awesome update. Thanks for the post. Now whether or not we get a root for the E4G off of this is still to be determined, but it is great to know that they are trying.

Today I will be turning in my rooted 4G for a replacement (charging port issues). I can't wait any longer. Maybe I can talk them into an early 3vo upgrade... Lord knows that Sprint gets over $200 a month from me. That should be worth a platinum status!

I'll have no picking on engineers in the android forum, if we made it twice as big its because some non engineer business type told me I had to have a factor of safety of 15 to cover their ass.

be happy you can fill the glass with twice the shit you need, you know even if your wife didn't order her own she'll drink half of yours...

The 3d is temp rooted but getting s off has not happened yet. They have the eng but its apparently not as simple as just flashing it...they are still working...

You can at least run root apps on it now and remove bloat

I deal with engineers on a regular basis. Civil engineers that is. Bridges have a 1.5 safety factor if my memory is correct, I cant remember. I just build em, don't design em. :D

I think that its correct also, odd considering the custom machines I design to build/inspect nuclear reactors and aircraft engines has to have a factor of safety of at least 3, ten on weld and 10 on lifting equipment. The tools building these items are stronger than the items themselves. If something breaks during assembly it better be the engine or reactor I can't have a miss on a tool :-) . The tool is only s75000 the engine is millions, go figure, politics.

Also go ahead and pick on civils. People pick on engineers, if engineers pick on people its the civils we make fun of lol.

ok so i'm not an engineer of any sort. so....are you saying that the bridge represent the current hboot(2.16) and that if we hit the bridge with the right frequency, we can find the exploit and gain root?:D

I'll loop back to my idea of the 1/64" drill bit. Still think that one will work! :D
