Root [FAQ-GUIDE] ClockWorkMod Optimus Elite

Entered SU and allowed SU on terminal. I typed it exactly as per the instructions. I even used adb shell thinking I was not putting the file name correct. Negative on both platforms with same errors.

I have never been able to proceed pass Step 4.

edit: lol yes it needs to be on internal sd

I've always had it on my sdcard. Let me make the change and see if that works. I have used the correct file name also before.

Thank you for your help. You are right, I could have altered the file line but I went with putting the file on the internal memory.

Problem Solved. Now to install Harmonia. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

After installing Harmonia, don't forget to install giantpune's kernel! The two go hand in hand :)

Will do, sir!

Quick question. Backup stock rom, New Rom wipe, Harmonia, kernal = Correct?

And it doesn't matter that it will be installed on a Sprint phone despite saying it is a VM build??

alright so when i was looking at rom manager i acidentlly clicked the wrong phone model and it installed cwm. it says i have current cwm..my phone is working fine atm but im scared to power it off haha is what i did a major problem?

Could be.. If it just wrote the incorrect recovery to recovery partition it could be as simple as flashing correct recovery.

However if it wrote the incorrect recovery to the wrong partition and over wrote something important it could not be pretty when you reboot.

I would manually flash the correct recovery while phone is working then cross fingers and reboot. But to be safe I'd turn diag mode on before you do so you have a change to recover it if something does go wrong

Is there a way to tell if it wrote to the wrong partition? i Have the OE so its not on there so i gotta flash it manually with the help of the link from the first post

i acidentlly clicked the wrong phone model

I'm not buying that 'accidentally' part at all. In order to undo whatever it was the program did when you lied to it, you need to fix 2 things. Aside from writing the cwm to the correct partition, you will also need to find out which partition was overwritten and un-overwrite it. In order to do that, you may have to get somebody to pull that partition image from their phone and send it to you so you can write it back to the botched partition.

im really new to androids so i dont know much...how would i get to the partitions? with a file explorer type app? and how would i know if its wrong or right?

You'll probably want to get on google and lookup the model of phone you told that program you had. Then find out which partition is the recovery in that one. It will be something like "mmcblk0p##". Then look up the lists for the partitions of our model and see what that partitions matches up with.

Guess we need a "Do Not Use Rom Manager" warning thread over here like we do on the Optimus V. I saw so many V's screwed by rom manager because it didn't properly support it

No, you need a "don't lie to programs about which phone you have" thread, especially if it is running as root and making changes to critical parts of the device.

ah hell, let's just have a "GO AHEAD AND INSTALL IT WITH ROM MANAGER ANYWAY!!" thread.. you know their gonna do it anyway lol. "psst!! hey man..I'm in a boot loop..I told ROM manager that I had an optimus v to get clockwork mod..can ya help??" :smokingsomb:

Can someone mirror the part_13_cwm_9_22_17_32.bin file somewhere besides SendSpace?

I've been trying to grab it for a few hours now and I am constantly hitting the "service is at full capacity" message.

Thanks!
