Help Fastboot is only choice

Yes you would launch all commands from the platform-tools directory and it sounds like you're doing that. Your results are a bad sign I'm afraid. It's a semi-new, yet increasingly common phenomenon I call the Lollipop fastboot brick. Basically speaking, it means you can write fastboot commands and the phone recognizes that you did that, but it won't process them.

That is bad and it's almost certain that the tool won't work for you either while in this state. There is a way out of this but it's not fun. You're looking at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404

What you do there is short some specific capacitors on the motherboard to invoke qhsusb_bulk (9006) mode if you are lucky. Or QDLoader (9008) mode if you're not quite as lucky...though both can be fixed. 9006 can be fixed using either Linux or once again, the same tool LitrosNub posted earlier. You'll note it has a bulk mode fix option in it. If you end up in 9008 mode, you'll have to post back and I can walk you through that.

At this time, you would be well served to install the Qualcomm USB drivers to your machine. Get them here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7460142/Qcomm_Drivers.zip

Having those installed will greatly help you to determine if you end up getting 9006 bulk mode or 9008 QDloader mode. You'll eventually determine this by watching Windows Device Manager while performing the shorting of the motherboard. Those drivers allow much more specific info to show up in device manager. For reference, 9006 bulk will look like a bunch of "drives" in Windows. Those "drives" are actually the partitions and thanks to a security breech which has since been patched, you can interact with them and via superuser, you can reflash them to restore the bootstack similar to what I mentioned earlier (aboot, boot, dbi, laf, rpm, sbl1, tz) which will once again restore download mode.

Sorry man, this particular phone has become quite involved in it's brickability. The good news is, it can be fixed if you have the patience and some willingness to open up the phone and do a small amount of surgery. As you can see, you'll need a small screwdriver to access the motherboard. Many jeweler's screwdriver sets don't have a small enough phillips to do the job. If you have a set which contains a flat blade 3/64", it will work to loosen all the screws.

It's a lot to take in so read up as much as possible, then ask if questions. I've been through this several times on this phone and other LG's containing a Snapdragon so I'll assist where I can.
Wow! Dang! I'll have to think about this, and it seems to be a weekend project if I decide to go ahead. I love the phone, and it works flawlessly in every way except this. If I wasn't concerned about flashing a ROM, there would be no problem. Knowing me, I'll probably do it if I can figure out how to get the back off. Thanks for all your help. Talk to you later. :)

Damn, I'm all out of ideas, I'll hand the help over to @iowabowtech, I hope he can resolve it.

Iowa's right, I've seen this problem before on XDA - the G2 processes the commands but it doesn't do em'. You'll need to short out the motherboard or else your looking at a non-recoverable device. Even with that the risks could still be high.

Trust me, I've seen this before and people like you, they say they can't do it and they get their device out of the gutter, just follow Iowa and your G2 will see the light of day...

//sappy inspirational thingy end

Also hope your get 9006 mode, 9008 mode is a real pain in the ass to get out of.

EDIT: Also hey @iowabowtech if ya read this, hope you well :)
Thanks! I like your sappy inspirational thingy end. :-D

They're the best you'll find online for an LG mate. Youre lucky to have them onboard.
They'll get you sorted eventually. If they're anything like me, they hate to give up on a problem and enjoy solving them :thumbsupdroid:

There was a time when I would happily tried this....grabbed some tiny screwdrivers and jumped right in. This is not that time. So, (and maybe this is against the rules)

There was a time when I would have happily tried this....grabbed some tiny screwdrivers and jumped right in. This is not that time. So, (and maybe this is against the rules) if someone would like to buy an AT&T LG G2 D800 in mint condition, I'll sell it for $100 plus $5 for shipping. I can't restore it to factory for obvious reasons, but I can delete my apps and unlink my Google account.
My sincerest thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to answer my question. You guys all rock!!!

Put it up on Ebay, Swappa, or even here in the 'Classifieds' section.

Know how you feel man. I used to love taking stuff apart but now I just cba.
Actually I opened up my TV remote which had become a bit flakey lastnight, cleaned the button contacts on the board with alcohol (well, aftershave lol) and now the thing is next to useless. I've lost my touch and need to buy one of these universal things now :(

Yup, as LitrosNub said, stick it in the classifieds on here explaining it's issues and you might get lucky.
Good luck :thumbsupdroid:

You'll struggle to get much since it's viewed as a parts phone in the open market. If you want, pm me and I'll fix it for you for free. All I ask for is a return shipping label when you send it. No guarantees I can get it but it'd be a first if not and it certainly won't be in any worse shape than it is now. ;)

I would be happy to bro but I'm not a ZTE guy I'm afraid. LG I can do, depending on the model and situation. As it is, the necessary files have been procured for this particular model to fix virtually any brick state save a straight up hardware failure.
Wanna try to fix why my phone always overheats and always stays above 30C when idle and 40-50-60C when regular usage?

nah, just jokin dude (but if you really want to...)

I'll assume ur rooted and even if not, I'll continue to assume you've run a logcat. Either hardware issue (sorry) or major rouge app or system process running out of control. Most likely candidates imo are a wifi, bluetooth, radio, etc switching issue. High temp drains of that caliber seem to almost always be related to network state in my experience especially if battery drain accompanies it. But its an admitted guess.

nope, I get perfectly fine screen on temps (6-7 SOT) and I have full Wifi and Mobile data signal, flashed tons of ROMs and one day i flashed a new rom and only used netflix and youtube and it still overheats, i feel like it might be radio though... the first rom i've ever flashed i got the wrong modem and messed something up. that's when the overheating started... since then I've restored KDZ about twice and I still get these issues...

I feel like that time I flashed the wrong modem I fried something....

If it does it following kdz flash with no custom rom/kernel installed, its a bad sign. Assume if you're using the xda kdz flash tool, that you're using the 'cse' flash option to retain zero data in lieu of the 'normal' option which does retain data. If you're using an older or different tool, disregard.

It's cool bro I lost her in a house move anyway and she was my 1st Android, could probably unbrick her easy now that I understand more :thumbsupdroid:

Fs I make it a rule to not panic until my phone hits 55°c (overclocked, charging and tethering), does it not have some kind of thermal cut out?

I had to install a custom kernel and do the throttling my self, anything over 56c gets throttled. I hit that limit to much...

That's a very, very kind offer, Iowa, but I already put it on Swappa and it sold. Who knew you were someone so unselfish! (Got $105 for it) :-/

Hey guys, if I buy an unlocked LG G2 on Swappa, how can I keep this from happening again? I really liked that little phone.

I successfully rooted my LG G2 D800 using One Click Root http://webtrickz.com/how-to-root-lg-...ne-click-root/ and I want to install Cyanogenmod 12. Trouble is, I can't get into recovery mode, only fastboot. No matter what method I use: Power/Vol, I get fastboot. Quick Boot or TWRP; fastboot. This is not my first time flashing, but I'm stumped this time.
Software: Android 5.0.2
Kernel Version: 3.4.0
Build number: LRX22G
Software Version: D80030f

The black screen shows
(1040) Fastboot mode started

When the phone is plugged into USB:
(1040) Fastboot mode started
(52440) -reset-
(52450) -portcharge- (or maybe portchange, the letters are tiny)
(52560) fastboot processing command

Nothing happens after that. I can restart my phone, no problem, and have gone past fastboot to "Factory data reset" and "Erase all user data and store default setting?", clicked yes, but wind up back on the black screen and fastboot..
No doubt, it's something really simple that I missed. I'd really appreciate some help.

I would not buy a used D802 without seeing a snapshot of the internals with the rear cover removed. That will tell you within a 90% chance what model the hardware is by looking at the markings on the bottom of the device and also the ribbon cables that go up either side. The only way to be 100% is to remove the motherboard and look on the underside of it as they are stamped with the true model number. But yeah, that isn't happening from a seller. You'd be lucky to get anyone who's willing to remove the rear cover for the picture since the average user thinks removing the cover on this device brings about warranty issues which it does not. But at the same time, it wasn't designed to be easily removed by the end user either. Hopefully if you're working with a motivated seller, they could be persuaded to provide the photo evidence.

One other thought @M Golden if you are ok with a 16 GB D802, the odds are extremely high that it'd be legit in all cases. The reason is that the D800 (ATT), D801 (TMO) and D802 (International) all use the same partition table. This is why we always see D800/D801 mobo's in these frankenphone D802's...identical GPT.

And since all US variants are 32GB, so are all the phony D802's 32 GB...which doesn't come as a shock to anyone (even feeling like a bonus) since there's a legit 32 GB D802 version as well. It's just that you may not be getting one of those. ;)
