Root fastboot when put in battery power button broken

I'm have Mikg2.56
I think my power button is broken. I have a warranty so that's okay but when I take the battery out and put it back in the phone boots up. It is acting like it is fastbooting but in settings, fastboot is turned off. I've taken the battery in and out multiple times and it always turns on. I can get to recovery thru the quick settings but cannot wipe cache and dalvik cache because the power button does not do anything.
I think I want to stop the phone from fast booting so when I take the phone in for warranty, sprint does not see that it is rooted? Although I am also wondering if this could be a Mikg problem because of the restarting after battery pull. Not sure how to proceed.

So volume down doesnt work when trying to get to bootloader but power does, and power doesnt work in recovery but the volume buttons do?

I would go ahead and unroot using the pcimg method. Hopefully if your in bootloader your power button will work and at least one of the volume buttons.

What is your H-Boot?

ok well i would unroot your phone. here is how you can do it from your computer:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/371191-get-unrooted-warranty-service.html. this will use adb to push and flash the s-on tool and run the ruu to get you unrooted without using your phone.

depending on what your hboot is will determine what files you push onto your phone.

if you have hboot 2.10 or less then use the files that are in the op. if you have hboot 6.16 then use the files that are in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. go to the unrooting sections to get them.

I guess I am rattled. I said volume button but I meant power button. My power button is not working. I think I am hboot 2.16 cant remember how to check.
can't do anything in recovery without the power button.

Thanks for your replies. Will do the push from my computer when i get home. Maybe I can get the white evo I have always wanted now.

either way the above method should work.

and your hboot should have changed when you rooted. it should be 6.16

My recovery is a month old and says RA-supersonic-v2.3. Is there a capacitive key work around for that?

I just did the update, but can't remember if i ever needed power button or not.

Its just volume up/down to update in bootloader isnt it?

This shiould fix his problem. However, I'd still suggest unrooting and taking it in for warranty service if its covered or if you have insurance

Do I use RUU FOR Hboot 2.10 that is provided in the xtremedays guide. Just from reading the instructions I don't see where to use the PC36img6.16.zip file.

Quoting ocn's post above:

You need to know your hboot to know the correct RUU.

maybe I see what to do.
- Use RUU for Hboot 2.10
- get the PC36IMG6.17.zip files from Ocn guide for dummies.
- in extreme comands in step 7 replace "unrevoked-forever-son.zip" with "PC36IMG6.17.zip".
- run thru the comands in step 7 twice - once to get s-on and the second time to get a stock rom and stock recovery.

Andy, Can I change to this recovery without my power button or were you providing the link for others to download?
