Fatality: 2019

Is it wrong to say I am sadder that this lady died then my own mom:thinking: what's worst I didn't know this lady existed:oops: any how rest in peace Jessica
There's no right or wrong way to deal with death. We all do it differently.

When my childhood idol, John Lennon, was murdered, I was inconsolable...I mean for weeks. (And he died on my birthday.) A few years later, when my grandmother died, I didn't shed a tear. I had been estranged from her since leaving home at 16--because of her. We were on speaking terms (infrequent and awkward) by the time she died, but I really felt no sadness at losing her.

You're feeling what you're feeling. It's neither right nor wrong. It just is.

Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter has died. He was 78.

Although he never performed on-stage with the group, he and Jerry Garcia were responsible for most of the band's songs. He was a poet, and a talented one at that.

Hunter penned the famous line, "what a long, strange trip it's been."

RIP, Robert, and thanks for so many wonderful songs. Say hi to Jerry for me, would you?

Back in 1993 I was working for a private security company, on Friday night the grateful dead were playing and the next night Garth Brooks was playing near by
I got assigned to work the hotel were the deadheads were staying. From the way people describe them you thought there was going to be a full on riot, and they would burn the hotel down.
To be honest about an hour after my shift started I was trying to figure out who these people were and were the actual deadheads where? Those people function as military unit
They had assembly, roll call, people were assigned jobs, and when they left you never knew they were there.
Extremely nice people

Character actress Linda Porter has died at 86. She has a long resume of both film and TV work, most recently in the show “Superstore” (which I’ve never seen).

RIP, Linda, and thanks for giving life to so very many characters over the years.
This is sad news.

I've watched Superstore from its debut, and absolutely LOVE her as Myrtle. She's been central to a number of story arcs, even being turned into a hologram customer greeter. :) I'm glad they did that, because it gives them an option to keep her character alive, although it would fit better with the show's philosophy to acknowledge and honor her death.

RIP, Ms Porter, and thank you for your long history in entertainment, and especially for Myrtle. :(

I did catch an episode of "Superstore" duration on a flight to Boston from Chicago, it was alright. Just not a fan of it.

Sid Haig definitely deserves a mention. He passed away last week. Captain Spaulding rates up there for the creepiest horror character ever. RIP

A trailblazing woman has died. Diahann Carroll, singer in the '60s, actor as the first black woman in a title role as something other than a servant on TV, in Julia, has passed away at 84.

I was watching the KTLA Morning News, as I do every day, and Mary Wilson (of the Supremes) was a guest. She's promoting a book, so it had nothing to do with Carroll's death, just a coincidence. But she and Sam Rubin talked about Carroll and acknowledged her role as a trailblazer.

Diahann Carroll died of cancer. I hope she can now rest in peace.

ETA more info.

^^^ That's a real loss. RIP Ms. Carroll.
Indeed. Although I remember watching Julia as a child, I had forgotten its truly groundbreaking premise: a professional working woman raising her child alone, after losing her husband in the Vietnam War. Consider that in that same era, even shows that were military-based, e.g., Gomer Pyle, USMC, -never- talked about Vietnam. And it was unheard of for a woman to be a professional, and single parent. So that would've been trailblazing enough, but then factor in that the family was black...
