What is your new phone? I have the Nexus S which has no LED. I use BLN to light up the 4 buttons at the bottom when I have a notification, and it uses very little battery. To use it you do have to root and use a kernel that supports BLN though.

I'm getting the AT&T Galaxy S 2..whatever it will be named. NoLed is the one I was trying to remember so I'll probably give it a shot.

You should root and use BLN, it was designed just because of the Samsung Galaxy S phones not having an LED. I just had problems with noLED and the way it interacted with WidgetLocker

Have you tried NoLed? When your phone is asleep, it wakes up and leave a little icon, turning on a few pixels on the AMOLED screen, to alert you of a text/email or missed call.

This looks really cool I might get this just to get it

Forddna,

Take a look at Light Flow Lite. It does a lot more than the market description says. You can set specific ringtones/notifications, vibration patterns, LED patterns, and repeat parameters for all of these. You can set these for phone, SMS, email, missed calls, etc., etc.

It just works. Really well.

My Tracks. Great for when I'm riding trails and want to know where I've been.

Dolphin HD, although I don't know if a browser counts as an app.

Astro for quick access to anything on my phone

Bitdefender for protection (although it doesn't work with Dolphin)

Where's My Droid, Which will send you a map to find your phone

QuickPic, which is just nice and easy

Music Junk (which isn't in the app market)

SoundHound, this one really feels like the future.Hum a few bars or hold it up to the radio and it will identify the song.

Evernote, Goes without saying.

Green Power - connection manager for battery savings
GrooveIP - for free WiFi Calling Domestic & International
Rainy Days - Weather Radar good for seeing what is over the horizon
Folder Organizer - Organizing Apps & changing icons
Google Voice -2 different phone & messaging system on one phone!
SwiftKeyX - Makes typing more accurate & easier & this $5 app was free via Amazon.
If I had known how effective it was, I would have paid.

My turn lol.

Dolphin HD-Best Browser out there I believe.

WarDrive-Its both practical for mapping wi-fi and feeds my need to consume potentially useless but unendingly interesting tracts of data.

HandCent-Hands down the best messaging app on the market. Ability to customize every single aspect of every contact and every part of the UI as well.

Snes9x EX- Snes emulator. Allows for multiple save/load states, links with bluetooth or Wii controller. Port to Tv and Walah!, childhood in HD.

Android System Info-Just like knowing everything going on with my phone.

Those are just a few.

I said the same thing for a LONG time. I tried others and kept going back to handcent (I even paid for some). Then I tried GoSMS pro a couple months ago (it is free), it is actually better than handcent and more features. Give it a shot.

I downloaded DiskUsage today to find out what was using up all my SD card space. Very handy for a clean up.

It gives you a nice graphical layout of memory usage by branching subfolders and files according to how much space they take up.

Not my "favorite", but a new one I just added I like:
Gemini App Manager - Android app on AppBrain

Great for seeing what each app's permissions are and easy to stop apps from starting up if you're rooted (I don't really know what I'm doing, so I've only stopped 3 or 4 user apps, and works well).

Do you know how the app Autorun Control(ROOT) works? It seems like a pretty nice consolidated app.

Do you find that the app is a battery hog?

Only had it installed for a day, so not sure about battery, but so far no additional loss noticed.

I assume autorun modifies some code? I'm no expert. It gives you all the reasons the app will autorun, and lets you turn off any reason you don't like. I haven't turned much off yet... would be nice to see a list of stuff that's safe to shutdown.

I just got seal from Amazon it locks any app you want with a password or unlock pattern

I got it from the market way before the app store existed. If you want to lock apps, it is the best! I highly recommend getting from the market instead of Amazon though, once I learned how amazon screws developers, I refuse to get anything from them and have deleted the amazon app store from my phone.

Can one of you link it to the Android Market. Searching for 'Steal' proves to be fruitless.

Downloaded this app. I was able to filter on apps with auto on permission but I can't seem to find the option to turn the auto permission off. How did you turned some of the permissions off? Right now, it's just a glorified task killer.

Here is the link for the Lite Version. And this is the paid version.

As for the other program - you have to make a donation to be able to turn off more than 2 intents. It's in the advanced tab. (At least I think that's what you're talking about)

How does Amazon screw devs?

How does Amazon screw devs?

This: Developer ShiftyJelly: Amazon Appstore "Rotten To The Core"

* Lengthy review times of anywhere up to 2 weeks (I’ve lost count of the amount of emails from people asking why our Google Market app is newer)
* Amazon gets to set the price of your app to whatever they want, without any input from you, or even the chance to reject their price
* Amazon re-writes your description, and in ours they even made up things like ‘add up to 100 podcasts’. No idea where on earth they got that number from
* Amazon don’t provide error reports like Google do making it hard to fix errors [sic]
* They don’t yet support Google’s new multiple APK initiative
* Amazon pays far later than Google does, and to date we haven’t received any cheques from them, even though we are listed as being ‘payed’
* US Only
* Much less real-time sales information than Google
* Update: (and this one surprised us) you can’t remove apps from their store! You have to ask them for permission via an email. Every other store lets you remove apps from sale.

Ewww. I wasn't aware of this. That's crappy of them. Well, I guess now I'll use the app store as a tester if there is no free trial and then I'll buy from the market. Thanks for the info. I know the devs work hard on their stuff and if I enjoy the product I have no problem supporting them.
