I still have the Real HDMI app. I actually received an update for it the other day. How can we share apps on here? Via .apk? If you help me share I'll be more than happy to give it to you.

What exactly is Terminal Emulator used for? It came with ApeX but I'm not sure what it is or what it's used for. Shine some light?

...But yes if you have such a list that would be incredibly helpful.

Ok not sure if you still need this or not, but here's the list of stuff I froze...

1. Amazon MP3
2. Android Live Wallpapers
3. Blockbuster
4. Bluetooth Share
5. BluetoothDun (I NEVER use bluetooth)
6. City ID
7. DNLA (I would be using this, but as of now I have nothing that's compatible with it)
8. Home screen tips (useless after first run IMO)
9. Kindle (like I'll ever use that anyway)
10. Music (the stock music player caused me much grief)
11. SIM Toolkit (my phone has no SIM card)
12. Skype mobile
13. Social Messaging
14. Social Messaging Service
15. Social Networking
16. Social Sharing
17. Social Status (it's not that I don't Facebook on my phone, I just have the real Facebook bookmarked and have the bookmark on my home screen... I prefer the actual site over the widget)
18. TTS Service
19. VZ Navigator

Lol, it had just dawned on me on my way home that this was the very thread that I listed this stuff (top of page 2) in. So anyway, if you need any of those things I would be glad to send it to you.... er, if you know how to do that sort of thing. I don't.

Wow that would be SUPER cool of you!!! Now all we have to figure out, is how we do that?

Anyone?

I will hopefully help this topic by saying that if I share this app you will need to donate to birdman, since he is the creator and is still offering updates.

Could you send me it as well, antnyh? I've wanted to have it and donate regardless of the fact that it has the potential to cause the phone to freeze up. I can live if having to reboot the phone after using the HDMI >_<

I would be more than happy to double the original donation amount. Also, I read that one of the reasons he took it down was because he was getting bogged down with 300 emails per day about bugs and what not and could barely keep up with all of those let alone take on more. So I swear I will not bother him no matter what this program does to my phone. I go into this knowing full well that there are bugs in the program that he can not help. So if I incur problems, I will not bother him about them.

Thanks.

GasserBGB1,

The Android Terminal Emulator (also free in the Market--not sure if this is the same terminal emulator you referring to or not, but it should be similar in function) is a window that allows you to interact with the Linux shell. I.e., it would let you issue shell commands on your phone instead of needing a PC to do an "adb shell".

Don't know how much you know about Unix/Linux, etc., but the shell is akin to the Windows Command Prompt (i.e., the old DOS window).

Hope that helps.

What am I missing here? Automatic Task Killer is ATK. Was that a typo?

I was under the impression that ATK was the ADVANCED Task Killer, which is apparently popular with all the HTC users and everyone else android.

Automatic is the lesser known version, as far as I know.

Actually I have all of those still, the only things I appear to be missing are corporate directory and that Need for Speed bloatware that came with froyo. But if you are able to find out how to send files and can send those my way I would be most grateful. :)

Hmmm... says it only works for HTC and Samsung devices on the Sprint network. Which means it's not much use for us here.

:(

I just wanted to add a shout-out to Theft Aware.

It's a security app that can control your phone remotely (Lock, unlock, siren on/off, forward calls, forward texts, send continuous GPS location updates and even have the phone surreptitiously call another phone to "spy"). I think you can even make custom commands, although I haven't messed with that.

The best part though, is how integrated it is when installed as a system file with root access. It's pretty much invisible. It doesn't show up in the app drawer or app manager, it hides the GPS icon from the status bar when it turns GPS on, it erases the incoming command texts and doesn't show any notifications for them. The app is accessed by calling a PIN on your dialer- Theft Aware then cancels the call before it goes out and erases the PIN from the call log. Very slick. It will also survive a factory reset.

It's the most expensive app I've purchased, but so far I'm very impressed with it.
