Root finally havr s-off

So I need to get twrp, goomanager is having problems downloading it, of well I can do it later I guess. Just need a Rom recommendation. Something barebones, but good options and mods and tweaks. Like cm, I see its very unstable though.

Viper Rom and MeanRom are the 2 go to super stable Roms for most people here. If those two I prefer Mean. It gets updated constantly and I like that much support and improvement. I'm personally a giant fan of CM10. It's very stable, I've been using it as my daily driver for about two weeks now with no issues at all. I hear there are bugs, but I haven't seen any

Good job on that S off, it is the way to go, no doubt! :)

Mik has a rom out, based upon the previous ota. It is advertised as just a 'base' but it has all the common tweaks that improve the phone's usability, as far as i am concerned.

Gets rid of the 3 dots, replaces right button with menu, fixes that linkify thing and some other tweaks under the hood that I can't remember.

Point is, it is highly under rated but very stable.

I read where he is out of the country for a while and won't have time to mess with the latest ota till he returns.

I also like the Fresh rom, it was my daily driver when I first rooted. His first was a good rom to be on when trying to get S off with too, apparently, because I used windows and it breezed right through on it. He also has a version based on the first ota out, as well.

Another rom I like is the Tranquil one or Tranquility, not sure of the name, it has the bases above covered, as well, pre ota I believe, but works fine and is lightly themed really nicely.

I ran the Mean roms a lot till the Mik rom came out. I still flash the various Mean updates and try them out but I really don't care to over clock and there have started to be little complications I don't feel like trying to keep up with, so I'll stick with Mik.

I am looking forward to seeing what he will do with the latest ota before I flash the firmware. I had read somewhere that there would be difficulty with running the older roms that were not based upon it, so given my preferences of roms, that held me back. I almost flashed the new firmware, thinking I could just reflash the older to be able to use the roms I like but we see here that folk have bricked their phones going back to the older firmware, so thankfully, I avoided that. Put it out here so maybe others will avoid it too.

happy flashing! :p

Thanks guys I decided to go with CM10 after what you said. Couldn't be happier. Increased WiFi range and speed, boot time rocks, lte is actually there and most of all I have all my rooting fun. Only complaint I have is the keypress vibration, haptic feedback I think. Can't find the setting for it to shut it off.

Don't use GPS. Apparently I don't have sound though, YouTube spotify and my movies are all silent. Do I need a kernel? Or bad root?

Install twrp via the bootloader. you have s-off, so use it :p

Not really a fan of using goomanager myself
Cm isn't "unstable". It's been my daily for 3 weeks now. Sure it's got some quirks but it's stable

I have twrp but its not running sound. I booted up recovery then wiped, wiped dalvik, cache , wiped again, installed cm, gapps, boot up. No sound. Am I missing files?

So I know the hardware is working stock rom has sound.but cm10 isn't working. Guess I flash something else.

Am I missing a file or is there an app to restore sound or fix it. Maybe a flashable file

So cm doesn't have sound working. Guess I need a new ROM. Mik or viper? Anyway to peer to peer for a speed DL?

Cm has sound working. It's just not working on your device (and apparently a few others)

Viper between the two of those, miks is just a base

I'm having a lot of trouble using the direct DL. Is there a peer to peer I can use that's safe? Or an app to use multi channel DL?

There are apps that download via both wifi and your phones Internet, and but from the sounds of things you don't have wifi
