Some weapons may have special rules like the rocket launcher will require both a certain amount of strength and agility to use. Being able to fire it is agility based so when attacking you will add your agility to your attack roll. It could also have a requirement that you have had training to use it without risking being knocked down from the recoil.

We need to come up with classes of ranged weapons that you can be trained in...

Lol RPG stats are very generic. I actually took most of them from shadowrun the pen and paper version. The idea is keep this as simple as possible so I'm mixing elements from the 2 pen and paper games I know best and trying to dumb it down so people can feel comfortable if they have not played a RPG before

Edit: and I posted before you :p

too late I patten it because I might have thought of it years ago even though I didn't I will claim I did and still sue you bwhaha :p

Weapons ?

Okay now what about classes for weapons.

Melee:
Armed: clubs, whips, staffs, edged
Unarmed: brawling, boxing, wrestling, judo, karate

Ranged:
Bows, Throwing, Projectiles
Firearms: Pistols, rifles, semi auto, full auto

Misc/other:
Demolitions

These can be taken as skills. there will need to be some sort of way to determine how many skills you get and how much I am thinking base it off intelligence. I think that the rocket launcher may fit into the projectile catagory ;)

How about some shotguns too? Single barreled, shot once then needs to be reloaded Double barreled shoots twice before reloading Pump action, shoots 4 times before reloading, semi-auto, shoots 5 times before reloading, and fully auto, shoots 8 or 10 times before reloading what do you think?

I would think shotguns would be under rifle, semi auto, or full auto. The reason I wanted to wait on the weapons was to figure out the basic rules first then figure out what weapons the players wanted for their character (and if they can obtain them ;)) I figure we can incorporate almost all weapons but no need to figure out the stats until someone wants to look into getting one.

Some of the basic weapons we will need to figure out first perhaps a single or double barreled shotgun, pistols, knives, maybe a katana...but other weapons that aren't obtainable yet like a light saber, laser pistol and unique weapons like the sonic screwdriver don't have to be defined to start the game.

I am working on a google doc with the rules we have determined so far. What do you think about the clarification to AC and damage?

How about we incorporate a high level only weapon called the Gatling laser just like a mini gun (more about fallout ;) ) except it shoots lasers out super quick and is more deadly

I am not a fan of running games that start out out of balance. If you give the players super powerful weapons to begin with they will grow bored of the game quickly as there is nothing to strive for or they will be pawning everything you throw at them. It is better to make the players work for their rewards so when to do get a super powerful weapon or item they feel a sense of accomplishment

Okay then Frisco has the gatling laser...good luck getting it from him to find out what it can do ;)

Alright some rules on how to play by post...

Note on forum based play
This game will be slow moving it is the nature of the beast. After the GM posts the scenario the players have up to 12 hours to declare their actions, maybe more. If a player fails to post within a 12 hour period they will go into a state of limbo. If a battle is going on and an enemy is focused on the missing character the character will remain in the game but make no action. If there is no battle or no enemy is focused on the missing character the character will “log off” regardless of the outcome the player will gain no benefit from being absent.

If a player knows they will be absent please contact the GM to make them aware so they can remove your character from the game ASAP until your return or look out for your character so nothing bad happens. If you notify the GM of your absence beforehand your character will fare better than if you just disappear.

Also when posting please stay in character, if you need to tell the GM something or discuss with another player out of character please use hide tags. Posts should not be edited after they are submitted except under special circumstances that must be reviewed by the GM.

If an action is unclear by a character the GM will either post @the player’s username followed by hide tags and PM the player a link to the post. The player is then expected to respond to clarify or the unclear action will be completed under the GM’s discression.

If a new player wants to join the game in progress please make a character and post the character in hide tags within the game.

You guys realize this is the most complex forum game on AF right?:D

I am also gonna add that all off topic posts will be reported and requested to be deleted.
